Bill O"Reilly Issues Statement on Fox News Departure, Remains Defiant

Bill O’Reilly may be gone from Fox News.

But the controversial host isn’t leaving quietly.

On Wednesday afternoon, 21st Century Fox announced that it had parted ways with O’Reilly in the wake of allegations that he sexually harassed at least five women who either worked for the network or appeared on The O’Reilly Factor over the years.

These women were paid a total of $ 13 million in hush money, while a sixth women spoke to the media last week about the inappropriate ways in which O’Reilly had treated her.

Following The New York Times report that exposed these incidents, O’Reilly pleaded innocent via a statement on his website, while ignoring the topic on air.

But over 70 companies pulled their ads from The O’Reilly factor, an impressive display of protest that basically gave Fox News no choice.

“After a thorough and careful review of the allegations, the Company and Bill O’Reilly have agreed that Bill O’Reilly will not be returning to the Fox News Channel,” read the dismissal confirmation yesterday.

“This decision follows an extensive review done in collaboration with outside counsel.

“By ratings standards, Bill O’Reilly is one of the most accomplished TV personalities in the history of cable news. In fact, his success by any measure is indisputable.

“Fox News has demonstrated again and again the strength of its talent bench. We have full confidence that the network will continue to be a powerhouse in cable news.

“Lastly, and most importantly, we want to underscore our consistent commitment to fostering a work environment built on the values of trust and respect.”

A few hours after this statement went public, O’Reilly released a parting shot of his own.

The staunch conservative, who had worked at the network since 1996, said the following in response to his firing:

“Over the past 20 years at Fox News, I have been extremely proud to launch and lead one of the most successful news programs in history, which has consistently informed and entertained millions of Americans and significantly contributed to building Fox into the dominant news network in television.

“It is tremendously disheartening that we part ways due to completely unfounded claims.

“But that is the unfortunate reality many of us in the public eye must live with today. I will always look back on my time at Fox with great pride in the unprecedented success we achieved and with my deepest gratitude to all my dedicated viewers.

“I wish only the best for Fox News Channel.”

Last summer, 21st Century Fox CEO Roger Ailes resigned in the wake of his own sexual misconduct scandal.

Such major network stars as Gretchen Carlson and Megyn Kelly accused Ailes of treating them as nothing but objects with breasts, while Kelly turned down a $ 20 million-per-year contract from Fox to move to NBC this year.

Most believe she did so largely due to the work environment fostered by Fox News executives.

Beginning on April 24, Tucker Carlson will take over the 8 p.m. time slot previously held by O’Reilly.

On Wednesday night, though, Dana Perino sat behind the desk of simply The Factor and said the following to close the program:

It is the end of an era here at the Fox News Channel. As we mentioned earlier, Bill O’Reilly is leaving this chair and this network after more than 20 years.

Bill has been the undisputed King of Cable News – and for good reason.

He is an incredibly talented broadcaster who raised the bar for interviewers everywhere. He has also held his staff to exacting standards in his quest to put the best possible program on the air, and they are great.

Perino did not mention the $ 13 million in settlements or anything about the circumstances surrounding O’Reilly losing his job.

Here is how she concluded her tribute:

You, his audience, responded in record numbers, making The Factor the No. 1 cable news show for more than 16 years. You have also been loyal, and we can’t tell you how much that means to everyone on The Factor.

By ratings standards, Bill is one of the most accomplished TV personalities in the history of cable news. In fact, his success, by any measure, is indisputable.

We wish him the very best.

Leonardo DiCaprio Pays Tribute to Darlene Cates: Read His Statement

Leonardo DiCaprio is here to say goodbye to Darlene Cates.

The veteran actor, who got his huge break on the big screen in 1993 when he played Cates’ son in What’s Eating Gilbert Grape, took to Facebook on Tuesday and paid tribute to Cates.

The long-time actress died this week at the age of 69.

“Darlene was the best acting mom I ever had the privilege of working alongside,” DiCaprio wrote, adding of the actress:

“Her endearing personality and incredible talent will live on in the memories of those who knew her, and those who loved her work.

“My thoughts and prayers are with her family during this difficult time.”

Cates died on Sunday morning in her sleep. Her sister, Sheri Cates Morgan, shared the sad news on social media.

“It is with a bitter-sweet heart that we share that our precious wife, mother, and Gaga, Darlene Guthrie Cates, was called Home, somewhat unexpectedly, peacefully in her sleep Sunday morning, March 26th,” Morgan wrote.

Best known for portraying Johnny Depp and DiCaprio‘s overweight, housebound mother in the memorable film, Cates was discovered by Gilbert Grape author and screenwriter Peter Hedges.

He saw a tape of the actress on a 1985 episode of Sally Jessy Raphael titled “Too Heavy to Leave Their House.”

On the talk show at the time, Cates opened up about her battle with obesity and the pelvic infection that caused her to gain nearly 150 pounds.

Here’s a look at her on set with two actors who would go on to become A-Listers in Hollywood:

“I can do moms real well. I don’t have to delve very deep to find Mom in there,” the Texas native told The Dallas Morning News at one point in an interview about her acting.

Only 19 at the time the movie was released, DiCaprio earned his first Oscar nomination for What’s Eating Gilbert Grape.

He later wrote Cates a note in praise of her on-screen ability.

“I’m not really the best in expressing my words in writing but you are the most special person I have ever [met],” he said back in the day, adding:

“I’ll always remember you as the best acting mamma I ever had. You triumphed in your role.”

Following many years of health struggles, Cates lost 250 pounds and tried to get back into acting awhile back.

She went on to appear in such TV shows as Picket Fences in 1994 and Touched by an Angel in 1996 and also had a small role in the 2001 film Wolf Girl.

May she rest in peace.

Teresa Giudice Makes Heartbreaking Statement on Mother Antonia Gorga"s Death

It’s been a sad weekend for the Real Housewives of New Jersey crew.

Antonia Gorga, mother of Teresa Giudice and Joe Gorga, has passed away after battling an unknown illness.

She was only 66 years old.

We still don’t know exactly what happened to Antonia, but we do know that her family is devastated by the loss, which is obviously huge.

Teresa shared the above photo on Instagram, and the caption she wrote is enough to break your heart.

“She will forever be missed and cherished in my heart!” she said. “Because of her I will find the strength to continue life’s jourtney. My mother, my confidant, my best friend, my everything.”

“Until we meet again … I love you mommy.”

She also shared a photo of Antonia, her children, and her grandchildren, writing “I miss my mommy so much.”

In another, she wrote “Always there for us & forever in our hearts.”

She even shared this collage of photos:

Along with the photo she said “Thank you for the love and support during this extremely difficult time. My mother was a very cherished part of our family and she’ll be deeply missed.”

“Each and every one of your messages of love & support are so appreciated.”

“Give her eternal rest O Lord and may your light shine on her forever,” Teresa finished.

But Teresa wasn’t the only one mourning Antonia. Her sister-in-law, Melissa Gorga, shared a photo of her own and wrote “May she Rest In Peace.”

“She was a beautiful woman who loves her children & grandchildren so immensely! I watched Joe & Teresa sit by her side for the last three months, the heart in this family is strong & she will live in our hearts forever.”

Teresa’s fellow Real Housewife Jacqueline Laurita even shared a thoughtful message on Instagram, which is notable since Teresa and Jacqueline have had their issues in the past.

“Tenderly may time heal your sorrow. Gently may friends ease your pain. Softly may peace replace heartaches. And my warmest memories remain,” her message read.

Another housewife, Amber Marchese, tweeted “A beautiful lady. This is a heart ache for all.”

Christina Grimmie: Family Thanks Fans for Support in Heartbreaking Statement

Will there ever be a time when simply hearing Christina Grimmie’s name doesn’t bring a tear to your eye and an ache to your heart.

Honestly, probably not.

Christina was just 22 years old, all set to be a huge pop star, when she was murdered after a concert in Orlando.

A man named Kevin Loibl — who, by several accounts, was very unhealthily obsessed with Christina — approached her while she was signing autographs and shot her.

Her brother Marcus was able to wrestle Loibl to the ground, but the shooter quickly turned his gun on himself.

To call it a nightmare would be a huge understatement, obviously, but the nightmare continues on to this day: the Grimmie family is in the middle of a legal battle against the entertainment company that owns the venue where Christina died.

The issue, the Grimmies believe, was that the venue didn’t have appropriate security in place to protect the performers, or anyone, really. And that’s a fair point, considering Loibl was able to waltz in with two handguns.

It must be terrible for her family to have to deal with a legal battle along with their unimaginable grief, but one thing is for sure: Christina’s fans are, to this day, a source of comfort for them.

And they said as much in a touching message shared to Christina’s Twitter account.

See, Christina won a Teen Choice Award last July — she was named Choice Web Star in the Music category.

Her fans took issue with the show at the time, since Christina’s award wasn’t announced during the broadcast of the awards show. In fact, her name wasn’t mentioned even once.

It seemed like a pretty big oversight, considering that the Teen Choice Awards aired just a month after her murder.

When you consider that they also included an entire tribute dedicated to victims of gun violence and their surviving family members, still with no mention of Christina … yeah, her fans were upset.

But it seems like after all these months, the Teen Choice Awards pulled it together long enough to get Christina’s award to her family. About time, right?

Her parents shared the picture of the award:

Along with the photo, they thanked “#TeanGrimmie” for helping them finally get the award.

“Your commitment to Christina’s legacy and making your voice heard online is a blessing to us,” they wrote. “We also acknowledge those who supported behind the scenes to make this a reality.”

“Thank you with love!”

And Christina’s fans were quick to share their ongoing support.

“She deserved this more than anyone else,” one person commented, and another said “We won’t let her be forgotten.”

Katy Perry Makes Statement with New Single at Grammys

Ready for a bit of disco magic?

Two days after releasing her brand new single, "Chained to the Rhythm," Katy Perry took to the stage at the 2017 Grammys and performed the song live for the first time. 

She also made a rather clear and important political statement.

Wearing a white suit that one has to think was an homage to Hillary Clinton proud, Perry donned an armband that read “Persist," very likely a reference to Senator Elizabeth Warren, who was recently silenced in a speech criticizing Jeff Sessions.

Perry, of course, has long been an outspoken Democrat and supporter of Liberal politicians and policies.

The artist stood against a backdrop of clouds and flowers at first, with a white picket fence soon rising up around her, far too high to climb.

However, she eventually followed the advice of her armband and found a way to break through.

Toward the end of the performance, Perry took the hand of Bob Marley’s grandson Skip, and stood in front of a graphic of the Constitution, which was displayed on the wall behind her.

"No hate," yelled the superstar after finishing the single.

Perry was not nominated for any awards on the evening, as she basically took 2016 off to campaign for Clinton.

So the single is clearly trying to channel her disappointment at the election results into new music.

Ashton Kutcher Gives Passionate Statement on Refugees at SAG Awards!

Last night, Hollywood"s biggest stars gathered together in a big, fancy room to pat each other on the back and to congratulate themselves on jobs well done.

Yes, last night, the SAG Awards happened.

And while it would have been perfectly fine if all the actors simply got dressed up and kept things light — that is a big part of their job, after all — they didn"t.

Since the awards fell on a day when thousands of people across the country were protesting Donald Trump"s latest executive order, that endlessly awful Muslim Ban, things were a little more serious.

And Ashton Kutcher set the tone for that in his opening speech.

Right at the beginning of the show, in the very first sentence, Ashton made sure that everyone knew what was up.

"Good evening fellow SAG-AFTRA members and everyone at home," he began, "and everyone in airports that belong in MY AMERICA."

His passion, as well as his anger that he even had to make a statement like that was undeniable.

All the tragic things that happened this weekend must have hit home for him — after all, his wife, the amazing Mila Kunis, came to the U.S. as a refugee from Ukraine when she was a child.

Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar Under Fire for Pro-Trump Statement!

During the unbelievably nightmarish, totally traumatic election season …

Sorry, let’s just take a quiet moment to ourselves to practice some breathing exercises and gather ourselves after remembering the election season.

… OK, are we good now? Have we healed?

Let’s move on.

During the unbelievably nightmarish, totally traumatic election season, the Duggars were mostly very quiet about which candidate they were voting for.

Derick Dillard did reveal that he was voting for Donald Trump, but other than that, the family kept their picks for president to themselves.

Normally we’d just go ahead and assume that the Duggars would be voting for the Republican candidate, given their conservative views, but things were a little different this time around.

Mostly because the Republican candidate was a gross, vulgar monster who, despite his many claims, went against everything the Duggars have always said they believed in.

But if the election taught us anything, it was that you can always count on people to surprise you. And not in a good way.

And so judging by this new Facebook post on the Duggar Family Official page, it looks like the family really was on Trump’s side all along.

As Jim Bob and Michelle wrote in the post, “Evangelicals played a huge role in Donald Trump becoming our new President this week. We all know that we need to see our country turn back to God.”

We’ll take another moment here for your head to stop spinning, and if your brain exploded, go ahead and take some time to clean that mess up.

The notion that Donald Trump could turn the U.S. back to God is just so massively wrong in so very many ways, isn’t it?

But still, the Duggars insist that “As a new president takes office, we need to take advantage of this opportunity to teach our kids about God’s grace on our nation.”

And here’s the point of all this mess …

“It’s why Mike Huckabee’s team at Learn Our History created the kids DVD, One Nation Under God, and right now they’re giving it way for free at [insert Duggar propaganda link here].”

The Duggars are pushing these DVDs because “too few children know the story of God’s role in American history,” and the DVDs are free because “every child has a right to know.”

Jim Bob and Michelle call these productions “positive, patriotic and faith-based lessons that your children or grandchildren will learn.”

And hey, “Whether you choose to place an order or not, please be sure your kids are learning about God’s role in American history.”

So there are a couple of issues with this.

One, the previously mentioned hilariously misguided thought that Trump will somehow turn the U.S. into some theocracy.

And two, the fact that this whole DVD operation seems to be a bit of a scam — it’s one of those “give your credit card information and get something for free, but figure out how to cancel our we’ll charge you forever” deals.

And people are here for none of it.

“If you are hoping Trump will bring the country to God you are going to be disappointed,” one fan wrote. “You need an actual Godly Christian witness to do that, and Trump is a blasphemy of Christ’s teaching.”

“What do you mean, ‘turn back to God"” another asked. “An administration under Trump will NOT teach children to ‘turn back to God.’ He built his campaign on racism, sexism, and violence.”

About those DVDs, one person wrote “It’s awesome. But their dvd has never been free. Wish they were and I’d get one for kids. Wish Christians especially wouldn’t spread falsities like that, cause people trust you.”

The shade of it all!

And the crushing disappointment and the all-encompassing fear. Don’t forget those.

Megyn Kelly Issues Statement on Fox News Departure: What Did She Say?

Megyn Kelly is no longer the female face of Fox News.

In a move that caught many viewers by surprise, the long-time reporter decided on Tuesday to sign a contract with NBC.

She will debut on that network later this year, anchoring her very own program Monday through Friday; hosting a Sunday evening series; and also contributing in general to NBC political coverage and any kind of breaking news.

Reports indicate that an offer of $ 20 million per year from Fox News was not enough to entice Kelly to stay.

Is this really all that shocking, considering Kelly claims former Fox News Corp. Chairman Roger Ailes sexually harassed her on numerous occasions shortly after she was hired a decade ago?

And also considering the fact that Kelly clearly has no respect for Sean Hannity?

And also considering that Kelly is not a very big fan of Donald Trump, the impending President of the United States who will have the full support of Fox News and its unfair and non-balanced reporters?

It really shouldn’t be.

In fact, this move should have been an obvious one to see coming.

But still. We understand the idea of Megyn Kelly appearing on any network other than Fox is jarring.

And Kelly clearly understands this as well.

That’s why she has issued a lengthy Facebook post in response to her decision going public.

“Over a dozen years ago I started at Fox News in a job that would change my life,” she wrote this afternoon, continung:

“Now, I have decided to end my time at FNC, incredibly enriched for the experiences I’ve had. I have agreed to join NBC News, where I will be launching a new daytime show Monday through Friday, along with a Sunday evening news magazine program.

“I will also participate in NBC’s breaking news coverage and its political and special events coverage.”

Concluded the 46-year old:

“While I will greatly miss my colleagues at Fox, I am delighted to be joining the NBC News family and taking on a new challenge.

“I remain deeply grateful to Fox News, to Rupert, Lachlan and James Murdoch, and especially to all of the FNC viewers, who have taught me so much about what really matters.

“More to come soon. … Happy New Year, and God bless.”

Megyn Kelly Throws Shade at Roger Ailes

In announcing the hiring of Kelly, Andrew Lack, chairman of NBC News, said the following:

“Megyn is an exceptional journalist and news anchor, who has had an extraordinary career. She’s demonstrated tremendous skill and poise, and we’re lucky to have her.”

And while Kelly’s contract at Fox runs through this summer, it sounds as though she’ll be let out of it early.

We still aren’t sure when she’ll first appear on NBC, but Fox News has announced she will only anchor The Kelly File through Friday, January 6.

Added Rupert Murdoch, the executive chairman of 21st Century Fox:

“We thank Megyn Kelly for her 12 years of contributions to FOX News. We hope she enjoys tremendous success in her career and wish her and her family all the best.”

Megyn Kelly Cracks Up Over Donald Trump

Kelly has hinted at not just a move away from Fox for some time, but a move away from primetime.

Hosting a daytime show will allow her to spend more time with her children – Edward, 7, Yardley, 5, and Thatcher, 3 – whom she shares with husband Douglas Brunt.

This was allegedly a major selling point for NBC.

The question now remains, though: Will Kelly have the same sort of following at NBC that she had at Fox News?

Alan Thicke: See His Widow"s Heartbreaking Statement

Oh, 2016, haven’t you done enough?!

We don’t know what this year’s problem is, but it takes and it takes and it takes, and it gives nothing back but empty hearts, broken souls, and America’s first Cheeto president.

One of this year’s most recent hits — and one of its hardest — happened last week with the loss of Alan Thicke.

The beloved Mr. Thicke was playing hockey with his 19-year-old son when he suffered a massive heart attack. He was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital, but he was declared dead soon after.

After the news broke that he had died, celebrities and fans alike shared their shock and sadness. It seems like most everyone who knew of his work or who had actually worked with him adored him.

And, needless to say, his family was heartbroken.

His youngest son, Carter — the one who was with Alan when he had his heart attack — got on Twitter that same day and wrote “Today I lost my best friend and my idol.”

“The world lost one of its finest,” Carter went on. “You are a legend and I love you Pops. Until next time.”

Alan’s older son, Robin Thicke, took to Instagram to say “My father passed away today. He was the best man I ever knew. The best friend I ever had.”

“Let’s all rejoice and celebrate the joy he brought to every room he was in. We love you, Alan Thicke. Thank you for your love. Love, your grateful son.”

And now, Alan’s widow, Tanya Thicke, has made a statement of her own. And it’s rough.

“It is with gut wrenching sadness and unbelievable grief that I thank everyone from the bottom of my heart for the outpouring of love and support during this unimaginable time,” the statement begins.

“Through tears and smiles our dearest of family and friends came together at our home to celebrate the life of my sweet and devoted husband Alan Thicke.”

“Yesterday, along with my step sons and our combined extended family, we laid my beloved husband, soul mate and the patriarch of our family to rest. We ask that you respect our privacy during this time of profound mourning.”

In the statement, Tanya is referencing Alan’s funeral, which was held on Monday at the couple’s home.

About the event, a source said that “The mood was very upbeat, it was more like a fun Vanity Fair Oscars party than a memorial.”

“All the speeches were fun and full of life. It was just the way Alan would have wanted it, more of a celebration of his life. Everyone was expressing how much they love him.”

For the funeral, Tanya asked that, instead of flowers, guests make donations to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, which was something that Alan “cared about deeply.”

Here’s hoping that some of that grief gets easier for Tanya and her family.

Camila Cabello Fires Back at Fifth Harmony: Read Her Statement

As previously reported, the professional relationship between Camila Cabello and Fifth Harmony is over.

But the tension is clearly just beginning.

On Sunday, mere hours after performing in Florida with the group, Cabello decided to walk away. This much is not up for dispute.

She is no longer a member of the popular band.

But Fifth Harmony claimed over the weekend that Cabello never actually spoke to them about her departure.

Lauren Jauregui, Ally Brooke Hernandez, Normani Kordei and Dinah Jane said that Cabello has a representative inform them of her career move, prompting a rather pointed statement in response.

It read as follows:

After 4 and a half years of being together, we have been informed via her representatives that Camila has decided to leave Fifth Harmony. We wish her well.

You Harmonizers have been there with us since the beginning, you’ve supported us, you’ve rejoiced and cried with us, you’ve grown with us, and with your love and support, we will continue on.

We are excited to announce that we will be moving forward with the four of us – Ally Brooke, Normani Kordei, Dinah Jane and Lauren Jauregui for our fans. We are four strong, committed women who will continue with Fifth Harmony, as well as our solo endeavors

We are excited for our future, and we can’t wait for what the new year brings. Harmonizers, we are in this together. We love you with all of our hearts. Love Ally, Normani, Dinah and Lauren.

Not that bad, right?

No real shots are taken against Cabello here.

But the women are clearly miffed and a bit angry over her allegedly prompt choice to leave.

Cabello, however, broke her silence on the issue a day later.

Having read the above statement, this artist fired back on Instagram, sharing a lengthy statement of her own that took issue with how her former collaborators were portraying her in the media.

“I was shocked to read the statement the Fifth Harmony account posted without my knowing,” Cabello wrote.

“The girls were aware of my feelings through the long, much needed conversations about the future that we had during tour. Saying they were just informed through my representatives that I was ‘leaving the group’ is simply not true.”

She continued:

“Just like the other girls said in their statement about their plans, I had also planned to continue with my own solo endeavors in the new year, but I did not intend to end things with Fifth Harmony this way.

“As sad as it is to see this chapter ending this way, I will continue to root them all on as individuals and as a group, I wish nothing but the best for them, all the success in the world and true happiness.”

Cabello then went on to confirm future work on a solo album in 2017 and concluded:

“As scary as it is to take the leap, I am excited and full of joy because I know that no matter what happens, I am following my heart. I hope to see you on my journey.”

In turn, Fifth Harmony then went ahead and responded to this response!

On Monday night, Jauregui, Hernandez, Jane and Kordei followed up their initial statement with another that reads:

To our Harmonizers – We know you are hurt and confused, we are too. We know you want answers. And you deserve them, as you are just as much a part of this group as the four of us are.

“The last thing we want to do is engage in a battle of we said, she said, but we’ve let our story play out in press and on social media for too long. So, to our Harmonizers, who we care so deeply about, we want you to hear everything from us, unedited, not manipulated, just us, to you.”

The remaining quartet went on to press the feud further, saying Cabello never had the sort of open conversation she impled in the message above.

Over the past several months, we have consistently made every effort to sit down and discuss the future of Fifth Harmony with Camila. After months of rejection from her and her team, these supposed lengthy conversations in fact never happened, although we pleaded.

We have tried with exhausted efforts and hearts to keep this group alive as the five of us, and we want it to be very clear that unfortunately those efforts were not mutual.

The group also wrote that they had hoped to record one final record together. But Cabello’s manager told them last month that the show in Florida on December 18 would be his client’s last as a member.

We were truly hurt. We’ve been together for almost five years, been through ups and downs…

Shailene Woodley: Mug Shot, Statement Released

As previously reported, Shailene Woodley was arrested this week.

The young actress was booked on a charge of trespassing on Monday while she was protesting the Dakota Access Pipeline in Bismarck, North Dakota.

A day after the incident went viral, authorities released the following mug shot to the public:

Unlike many celebrities, Woodley really does own this mug shot, doesn’t she?

Her braided hair is in place. She’s staring right into the camera. Her skin even looks flawless.

Along similar lines, Woodley also owned her arrest.

The Divergent star actually filmed herself at the scene, talking about her interactions with the police and how she was arrested simply because she’s famous.

“I don’t know if you guys just heard me, but I was walking back to my RV, which is right there so that we can go back to camp peacefully and they grabbed me by my jacket and said that I was not allowed to continue,” Woodley explains below.

Of the police, she adds: “They had giant guns and batons and zip ties and they’re not letting me go.”

She also said the cops admitted that Woodley was taken into custody because she was well-known.

As for the cause itself?

We’re guessing Woodley sees it as far more important than anything that happened to her.

“I am Shailene Woodley. I am a 24-year-old woman who cares about not only the generations that are alive right now but the generations to come,” the Snowden actress said as she filmed an interview.

“And we’re here to protect clean water, and we’re here to protect the land and to reconnect humanity to our roots, which is the Earth, which is recognizing that we cannot help the Earth, we cannot do anything to and for the Earth, until we realize that we are made of the Earth.

“So we have to start with ourselves.”

With a scarf around her head and neck, Woodley was on hand to protest (with over 200 people) against the 1,172-mile pipeline that would run from the oil-rich Bakken Formation southeast into South Dakota, Iowa, and Illinois.

The issue with the project is that it would stretch very close to historically significant Native American tribal lands and would harm the environment.

Woodley has since been released… and has jumped on Instagram to issue another statement.

As a caption to the following picture, she wrote on Tuesday:

“One day, baby, we’ll sing our poetry. The words dripping from our tongues wet with ripened patience.

“And the lyrics, the sweet fruits born from the seeds our aging hands are now sowing. #alwaysinallways #heartforward #uptous #NoDAPL #protectcleanwater #iamonyourside.”

The Morton County Sheriff has confirmed that Woodley was arrested, but says 26 other protesters were also arrested. She was not the only one, as initial reports claimed.

“She appreciates the outpouring of support, not only for her, but more importantly, for the continued fight against the construction of the Dakota Access Pipeline,” Shailene’s representative told E! News after the actress was released from prison.

But we have to salute the star in this case. She took a stand for something she believes in.

Jill Duggar & Derick Dillard: NOT Returning to U.S! Read Their Surprising Statement!

Last week, we reported that Jill Duggar and Derick Dillard would be returning to the US following a year of missionary work in Central America.

Early rumors indicated that the couple would be coming home to Tontitown, Arkansas in order to more fully participate in Jill & Jessa: Counting On Season 2. 

Now, however, it looks as though while the Dillards will be participating in the show’s second, they’ll continue to do so primarily from their new home in El Salvador.

For weeks now, fans have been eagerly anticipating the announcement of Jill and Derick’s homecoming.

The couple finally shared the news of their return over the weekend, but it’s not quite what fans of expected:

“We are so excited to share that we will be returning in August for a short stateside term that will extend into the fall,” Jill wrote on her family’s official website yesterday.

Sources later elaborated that yes, the Duggars will be traveling back to Arkansas next month … but only for a few weeks.

“We are really looking forward to seeing our families after nearly 10 months on foreign soil, Jill continued.

“We plan on taking some Bible classes as we continue to work in ministry from the US. Serving in Central America has been an amazing experience so far for both of us (and Israel!).”

Many fans expressed their shock that Jill and Derick’s time in the States will be so brief, particularly as more time in Central America means less time spent procreating.

Rumors that Jill is pregnant with her second child have been circulating for months, but it looks as though the couple has wisely decided to hold off, as they’re currently living in the heart of the Zika hot zone.

We imagine it wasn’t an easy decision for them.

After all, a Duggar without a ton of kids is like a Duggar who’s not wrapped up in some sort of scandal.

CNN Reporter Reads Full Statement by Stanford Rape Victim

CNN takes a lot of abuse for the way it handles its job as a news organization.

That"s what happens when you use holograms to conduct interviews and rely on Twitter as a source of information.

But anchor Ashleigh Banfield made headlines for all the right reasons on Monday night for the way in which she used her cable news platform.

In a touching stand against silencing rape victims, Banfield dedicated over 20 minutes of airtime to reading nearly the full statement from the victim of a 2015 sexual assault at Stanford University.

The case has gone viral because Brock Turner, whose mug shot is featured above, was convicted of sexual assault last week.

However, he only received a sentencing of six months in county prison, despite the judge having the option to sentence him to a maximum of 14 years behind state bars for his crime.

In response, the 23-year old victim in the case read an emotional letter out loud in court, addressing her assailant in it and outlining the ways in which his act has affected her life.

Banfield spent the first half of her program, “Legal View,” reading the victim’s 7,000-plus-word statement, only leaving out parts deemed too graphic for television.

“You don’t know me, but you’ve been inside me, and that’s why we’re here today,” Banfield read to open the message, walking listeners through the victim’s difficult experience,

The incident took place January 2015 after the victim attended a party with her sister and then woke up covered in dried blood, pine needles and bandages.

She later discovered that Turner had sexually assaulted her behind a dumpster while she was unconscious.

Banfield has received an outpouring of praise for this act.

Father of Stanford Rapist Minimizes Son"s Actions: Read His Statement

On June 2, Brock Turner – a swimmer from Stanford University – was convicted of sexually assaulting an unconscious woman near a dumpster.

His sentence of just six months in jail, followed by three months of probation, was seen as a slap on the wrist to many. It has stirred up an Internet storm.

The judge ruled that a longer sentence would have done the 20-year old more harm than necessary, despite actions most believe to have been unconscionable. 

There has been outrage on social media about the whole thing and now Turner’s father, Dan, has only added fuel to the fire. A lot of fuel to the fire. 

In a statement, he compared his son’s assault on the woman to “20 minutes of action” for which his child should not be punished with any jail time.

This case has gone viral because the brave victim at the center of it stood in front of the judge last week and read a moving letter, directing her anger, pain, bitterness and shock to Turner and everyone in court.

In instances like this, you expect the parents to be releasing an apology for bringing the offender into this world… but it appears Brock’s father is just as deluded as him.

“His life will never be the one that he dreamed about and worked so hard to achieve,” Turner wrote.

“That is a steep price to pay for 20 minutes of action out of his 20-plus years of life.”

The whole thing is pretty disgusting. 

He then went on to speak about how his son has lost his appetite nowadays. He also blamed the incident on “binge drinking” and “promiscuity.”

It’s truly disgusting all around.

As a quick refresher:

On January 18, 2015, two students found Brock on top of the unconscious woman. They even tackled him when he tried to flee.

Evidence pointed to Turner shoving his fingers inside the woman, along with pine needles and other objects.

His attorney tried to argue in court that the sex was consensual and that Turner asked for permission every step of the way.

But a jury saw right through this defense. They found him guilty on multiple counts of rape.

Yes, rape. Someone might want to explain what that term means to Mr. Turner.

Sara Ramirez is Leaving Grey"s Anatomy: Read Her Statement

On Grey’s Anatomy Season 13 Episode 24, nearly every character wrapped up the season in a happy state.

Moreover, there were no shooting or natural disasters or plane crashes or major deaths of any kind.

Still… there was one development on Thursday night that was even more surprising than the lack of a crazy finale from Shonda Rhimes:

Sara Ramirez has left the series.

This is not actually a significant shock to anyone who follows the actress on Twitter.

In late April, Ramirez Tweeted her gratitude for having played the role of Callie Torres for 10 seasons, writing on Twitter:

“That’s a wrap for Doctor #CallieTorres #Season13 #GreysAnatomy #ThankYou all for an enriching & unforgettable #Rollercoaster ride!”

With Ramirez’s contract due to expire this summer, many believed this was either a negotiating ploy for a better deal or a fond farewell.

Following the conclusion of Grey’s Anatomy Season 12 last night, we know now it to have been the latter.

“I’m deeply grateful to have spent the last 10 years with my family at Grey’s Anatomy and ABC, but for now, I’m taking some welcome time off,” Ramirez said in a statement.

“[Series creator] Shonda [Rhimes has] been so incredible to work for, and we will definitely continue our conversations.

“I send my love to Ellen [Pompeo], the rest of the cast and crew, and I look forward to always being a part of the Shondaland family!”

Callie did at least get a satisfying ending.

After weeks of fighting with Arizona over the custody of their daughter, she was surprised when her ex-wife decided that they could work out an arrangement that would enable Callie to move to New York and still see Sophia on a semi-regular basis.

Ramirez becomes just the latest key Grey’s Anatomy cast member to leave the show, but she does so under far less acrimonious circumstances than Katherine Heigl, Isaiah Washington or Patrick Dempsey.

The latter’s beloved McDreamy was hit by a truck and killed off last season.

Wrote Rhimes in a glowing statement of her own:

“Dr. Callie Torres came into our lives dancing it out in her underwear almost a decade ago, and I could not be happier or more proud of her journey.

“Sara Ramirez’s performance inspired me as well as millions of fans each week. We wish her the best on her well-deserved time off. I will miss Callie tremendously but am excited for what the future holds for Sara.

“She will always have a home at Shondaland.”

Kendall Jenner Denies Paparazzi Punch: Read Her Statement

Kendall Jenner is fighting back against a rumor that categorizes her as… well… a fighter.

According a report from earlier this month, the model actually went all Justin Bieber on a member of the paparazzi a few weeks ago, punching him in the face after a night spent partying.

Photos surfaced of the alleged incident, but Kendall insists they did not tell the complete story.

Or really any accurate story at all.

“Even though you know about my anger towards the paparazzi – I didn’t touch him!” Kendall has written on her official website in response to the punching allegation.

Continues the 20-year old Keeping Up with the Kardashians star, by way of explanation, saying that she was covering her face after an evening out with Gigi Hadid:

“I was super sweaty after dancing in the club all night (the last thing on earth I wanted was to have my photo taken at that moment!)…

” All of a sudden, this paparazzi took his camera and started taking pictures right below my face. It was in my personal space, like centimeters from my body.

“I was so annoyed. All I ask for is just a bubble of space to breathe, and he disrespected that.”

Jenner says she grabbed his camera “and pushed it away across my body, sort of trying to push and pull it out of his hand at the same time.” 

So there was contact made, Kendall has acknowledged as much.

“Of course, that side motion with my arm is why all of the pictures look like punches were flying,” she writes. “They totally weren’t! I just wanted him and his camera out of my face.”

Jenner concluded her post by emphasizing that “violence is never my thing” and adding:

“I get that [the paparazzi] have a job to do, too – but I’d love it if they gave me a break every now and then!”
