Mom Busted for Smuggling Booze Into Theater in Young Son"s Sippy Cup
Not every mother is going to be Mom of the Year, but this one isn"t even especially good at being a bad mom.
A woman in Cobb County was arrested after getting drunk at a movie theater after sneaking in an alcoholic beverage … in her 5-year-old"s sippy cup.
To make matters worse, her 5-year-old child was with her at the time.
Kristina Gibson is now facing misdemeanor reckless conduct and public intoxication charges following an incident on a Friday afternoon.
According to an arrest warrant, "Gibson filled her 5-year-old son"s sippy cup with a strong alcoholic beverage."
Judging by the fact that she got so very intoxicated, it almost sounds like she was drinking straight liquor, but that is just speculation.
The warrant continues: "and became intoxicated in the theater."
It is also believed that she may have taken a central nervous system depressant at the same time — which may have interacted with the alcohol.
The Friday incident took place at the Merchants Walk Stadium Cinemas in Cobb County.
She allegedly used her son"s sippy cup to smuggle in the alcoholic beverage, but there is thankfully no indication that her son had any of it.
The warrant accuses Gibson of becoming "unable to walk, talk, or care" for him.
Her son"s cries then alerted moviegoers, who notified theater employees who then contacted police.
Thankfully, the staff at the theater prevented Gibson from entering her car to drive away with her son.
It sounds like that could have been catastrophic.
When police arrived, an officer tried to zip Gibson"s purse, presumably to prevent its contents from spilling.
This is when Gibson allegedly told the officer "I will (expletive) kill you."
Don"t do that, folks.
Gibson was not immediately arrested, but was instead taken to the hospital by police, who were concerned about her level of intoxication.
Only after she arrived at the hospital and was no longer perceived to be a threat to anyone was the arrest warrant filed.
A family friend picked up her 5-year-old son from the theater.
Gibson remained in the hospital for nearly a week before being released.
At that point, she was arrested and booked in Cobb County Jail.
She was released on bail for $ 1,000.
It is still unclear if she actually took the drugs described as prescription central nervous system depressants.
That sounds to us like a benzodiazepine — which, as we all know, can become dangerous when combined with alcohol.
That would explain how someone (especially someone who may be an experienced drinker) could become intoxicated on a sippy cup"s worth of alcohol.
As one fellow moviegoer put it: "We go to the movies to have a good time! But … that"s not the way to do it."
The issue here is not with a woman finding a creative way to smuggle alcohol into a theater, but endangering her son and potentially other drivers in the process.
Though … we should point out that a sippy cup is a terrible way to smuggle in a drink. Like, flasks exist.
Even if this is one of those creepy theaters where they search people"s bags, there had to be a way for her to indulge herself without involving her son.
It really sounds like this woman was not thinking straight.

Man Gets Head Stuck in Movie Theater Seat, Dies
We know the above headline is likely to make you laugh.
But this is a serious matter.
This is the story of a real tragedy that took place in Great Britain.
According to various news outlets, a 24-year old father named Ateeq Rafiq was seeing a movie in Birmingham, England on March 9 when he dropped his cellphone between two reclining seats.
When Rafiq bent down to pick up the item, the footrest on the electrically-powered seat clamped down on his head, reports the Birmingham Mail newspaper.
The horrific incident took place at Vue Cinema at Star City, the outside of which is pictured below.
Said a spokesperson for the venue in a prepared statement:
“Following an incident which took place on Friday 9 March at our Birmingham cinema, we can confirm that a customer was taken to hospital that evening.
“We are saddened to learn that he passed away on Friday 16 March.
“A full investigation into the nature of the incident is ongoing. Our thoughts and condolences are with the family who have our full support and assistance.”
How could this possibly have happened?
A source familiar with the situation described what transpired thusly when speaking to the aforementioned publication:
“The Gold Class seats are electric reclining seats. He bent down to look for his phone.
“At this point the leg-rest was in an upright position. But as he stuck his head underneath to have a look, the footrest clamped down onto his head. He was stuck.
“His partner and staff tried to free him but couldn’t. The chair leg-rest was eventually broken free and he managed to get out.”
From there, Rafiq was taken to a local hospital.
He passed away several days later from injuries sustained in this freak accident.
The victim’s family is devastated by the loss, says sister-in-law Fatima Arzo to The Daily Mirror.
“We are grieving and completely in shock. My sister is in pieces,” she told the newspaper, adding:
“We are grateful to everyone who tried to help him, and at the moment we are praying and trying to come to terms with the fact we lost a loved one.”
The cinema complex at Star City where this took place features 25 screens, including three Gold Class rooms where the emphasis is on comfort and luxury.

“The Gold Class ticket price includes complimentary popcorn during your film and is strictly for over 18’s, offering luxury seating with a fully licensed bar and an enhanced viewing experience.
“Gold Class customers are welcome to visit the Gold Class bar to enjoy a drink before and during the screening.”

Teens Fake Pregnancies, Sneak Food Into Movie Theater
As we all know, it can be very expensive to purchase food at a movie theater.
Those establishments totally jack up the prices on drinks, popcorn and candy.
That’s why teenagers Priscilla Banuelos, Alyssa Lopez, Angie Silveira and Amador Costa decided to go a different route during an excursion to the Galaxy movie theater in Riverbank, California.
They snuck food into their film by hiding it under their shirts and pretending it was a baby bump.

They’re all expecting! Not really, but they successfully fooled plenty of fellow movie goers on this day.
2. The Preparation
Priscilla took Twitter followers behind the scenes of her preparation for the fake pregnancy. This photo has been Liked over 36,000 times.
3. Watermelon Bellies!
“I was getting so many stares, it was ridiculous,” Banuelos told BuzzFeed News. “Even some people came up to us and said, ‘Oh, what’s the gender."”
4. So… Much… Watermelon
The girls ran into a slight issue when it was time to leave the theater, as Banuelos explains: “There weren’t any trash cans in the movie theater, and I wasn’t about to walk out with a huge watermelon.”
5. OOPS!
“We did not leave a sticky mess or anything like that,” Banuelos told BuzzFeed, although another Twitter user replied to Banuelos’ original thread and claimed he was one of the theater employees who had to clean the mess up.
6. Mixed Opinions
Some folks on Twitter took issue with the girls’ prank, mostly saying it was poor form to actually fake a pregnancy. But others, like the person featured here, had their back (and their bumps!).

Man Stabbed in Movie Theater During Blake Lively Movie "The Shallows"
A 21-year-old man was stabbed multiple times on Wednesday at a movie theater during a screening of The Shallows, which stars Blake Lively.
The attack occurred in downtown Santa Rosa, a city in Northern California.
The suspect has been identified as Delonte Anthony Hart, 23, who has been homeless for about four months, according to reports.
The Santa Rosa Police Department described the incident on their Facebook page.
“The suspect, who was unknown to the victim, approached him from behind and stabbed him several times in an unprovoked attack,” the post read.
“Witnesses tended to the victim’s wounds until police officers and emergency medical personnel arrived.”
Audience members who saw the stabbing provided a description to police and pointed out the direction he went following the attack.
Officers were able to locate the suspect within minutes and placed him under arrest for attempted murder.
The victim, whose name was not released, was transported to the hospital and treated for multiple life-threatening stab wounds and is “expected to survive.”
A motive for the attack is unclear, but police described it as “random and frightening.”
Lively has not yet commented.
Last July, another violent movie theater attack occurred in Lafayette, Louisiana during a showing of Amy Schumer’s Trainwreck.
A gunman entered the theater and opened fire in the crowded cinema, killing two and injuring nine before taking his own life.
In response, a distraught Schumer told Vanity Fair that after hearing the news, she wished she’d never wrote the film.
“I was by myself in a hotel, and I was just like, I wish I never wrote that movie,” she said.
Since then, Schumer has been a staunch advocate for tightening gun laws and has campaigned on the topic with her cousin, New York State Senator Chuck Schumer.

Kim Kardashian Surprises Fans at Movie Theater, Reveals Weight Loss Secret
When Kim Kardashian fans entered the movie night giveaway on her app, they thought they"d simply be treated to a screening of the star"s favorite movie, Troop Beverly Hills.
But they got much more than just an hour and 46 minutes of Shelley Long"s madcap adventures of leading a smarmy girl scout troop.
At the end of the film, Kim Kardashian surprised fans by gracing them with her presence in a sparkly, body-hugging silver dress.
"Sorry to interrupt, guys," she said as she walked in, waving to the cheering crowd.
"Did you guys get the new Kimoji today?" she asked, plugging the latest iteration of her icky emoji line.
Kim then addressed a fan who commented on how amazing she looks after giving birth last December – a subject she hasn"t stopped talking about.
And while an "expert" recently accused Kim of lying about her weight loss, she insisted she"s been working hard.
"I really do put the effort in," she said. "I wake up every day at six and I run and then I work out with my trainer."
"I"m really disciplined, and I was never like that," she added.
"After North I had to really legitimately talk to myself, like, you"re not going to cheat today, you"re not gonna eat this."
And then she let us in on another secret.
"And, I wear, like Spanx," she admitted.
Okay, so we suppose it"s great that she"s keeping it real and telling fans that losing weight after having a baby does take a considerable amount of effort – and garments – even if most women don"t have the time and money to spend on such efforts.
Afterwards, she posed for selfies (of course), then bidded her adorers adieu.
The video Kim posted shows fans gushing about their idol, calling the experience "a dream come true."
