Nancy Dow, a veteran actress who was likely best known as the mother of Jennifer Aniston, died this week after having been diagnosed with an unknown disease.
She was 79 years old.
Aniston herself confirmed the sad news via the following statement:
“It is with great sadness that my brother John and I announce the passing of our mother Nancy Dow.
“She was 79 years old and passed peacefully surrounded by family and friends after enduring a long illness. We ask that our family’s privacy be respected as we grieve our loss.”
On the small screen, Dow appeared in such 1960s TV shows as The Beverly Hillbillies and The Wild Wild West.
She also wrote the 1999 memoir “From Mother and Daughter to Friends” about her famous child, which led to a pretty severe rift between Aniston and her mother that lasted for nearly a decade,.
Dow was not even invited to Anison’s wedding in 2000 to Brad Pitt.
However, the former Friends star, who is now married to actor Justin Theroux, and Dow reconciled after Aniston and Pitt divorced in 2005.
Dow was married to Aniston’s father, John Aniston, from 1965 to 1980, with Aniston born four years after their nuptials.
Aniston’s older brother, referenced in her statement above, was born to Dow during her first marriage, which lasted from 1956-1961.
Please join The Hollywood Gossip in sending out condolences to Aniston, her brother and all of Dow’s loved ones.
May she rest in peace.
