Beyonce went ahead and showed up Samuel L. Jackson on Sunday night.
She stole the show from Jesse Williams.
Heck, she even managed to take headlines from Prince.
At the 2016 BET Awards, Jackson was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award, while Williams earns a trophy for his humanitarian work and various artists paid tribute to Prince.
But all anyone is talking about in the aftermath of the event is Queen Bey.
That"s what happens when you take viewers and attendees by surprise to open the show, coming out to the stage as the words of Martin Luther King, Jr.’s "I Have a Dream" are played throughout the auditorium.
That"s also what happens when you proceed to break into a mesmerizing rendition of the song "Freedom," as dancers perform the routine they have perfected on the "Freedom" world tour.
And that"s definitely what happens when Kendrick Lamar jumps in to assist.
The wildly popular solo artist took home the awards for Best Female R&B/Pop Artist and Best Video at the ceremony, along with the Coca-Cola Viewers" Choice Award for “Formation.”
So it would have been a big night for her regardless of this opening number.
But the number helped turn it into an iconic night once again for Beyonce.
Just like at halftime of this year"s Super Bowl. Just like the evening she premiered her "Lemonade" special on HBO.
Just like pretty much any time Beyonce is involved in pretty much anything.
