Leah Messer Gets Real, Confesses to Suicidal Thoughts
Leah Messer would like to clear up a misconception.
She knows that many Teen Mom fans out there have judged her as a mother.
She knows that many are aghast over the custody battle she had to fight with ex Corey Simms over their twin girls, Ali and Aleeah.
She knows this is a sensitive topic.
But Messer recently spoke to Us Weekly and shed more light than ever before about what transpired in the past with Simms and her kids and where they stand now.

1. Messer Sought Treatment in 2015
She checked into a rehab facility for depression and anxiety, as nearly all Teen Mom fans know by now. This came at a time when her daughters, Ali and Aleeah, were five years old.
2. The Custody Battle with Simms Turned Ugly
Just look at the cover above as evidence. “It was like a slap in the face,” Leah told Us Weekly, describing the moment she found out her ex-Simms received custody of their twins.
3. What Was Actually Determined?
On October 7, 2015 a judge ruled that Simms would care for the girls Monday-Friday, leaving Leah with only weekends to spend with them. So he never got FULL custody.
4. Said Messer at the Time:
“I feel like they should have both of us in their lives. At the end of the day, my kids are going to be happy, and I don’t care what I have to do to make them happy.”
5. Fast Forward to Today and Messer is Revisiting This History…
“It’s always been 50/50. People were like, ‘Leah lost custody’ … I almost did, but I never lost custody of my children,” she tells Us Weekly, perhaps doing a tiny bit of revisionist history.
6. How Are Things These Days?
We haven’t heard a lot about Messer and Simms in awhile, but this is what the former says of their agreement and their co-parenting: “The current custody situation, just honestly … whatever we think is best for them, we do. We are doing the week on and then a week off.”

Samantha Markle Confesses: I Want to Get Rich By Trashing Meghan!
It’s been almost five months since Meghan Markle married Prince Harry, and the marriage has been as devoid of drama as most royal unions (sadly, the Fergies of the world are the exception, not the rule).
Fortunately, Meghan’s awful family has provided plenty of unintentional entertainment as they attempt to cash in on their tenuous ties to the throne.
Half-sister Samantha Markle has been doing her best to humiliate Meghan since before her engagement was announced, and at first, some folks gave her the benefit of the doubt.

It’s not like any of those traits are hugely uncommon amongst C-list actresses.
But as we learned more about both Meghan and Samantha, a clearer picture began to emerge.
Samantha was a failed actress (with a one-time appearance on freakin’ Matlock as her sole IMDb credit), who had been spent most of her life consumed with jealousy toward her more successful little sister.
Even Samantha’s mother sided with Meghan and admitted that Sam’s been a thorn in her sibling’s side for quite some time:
“Samantha has been dogging her for years,” she said of her daughter.
“Everything she has said about her is a lie.”
Despite Samantha having been thoroughly discredited (we now know she had zero contact with Meghan for more thn a decade before the royal wedding), the 53-year-old remains a fixture on the British media circuit.
And as E! News points out, Sam has finally admitted that her main goal in slandering her sister is to get rich by riding Meg’s coattails.
“Let’s face it—we all have to survive,” Samantha said in a recent interview.
“Money makes the world go round, so if you want to call that cashing in, that’s fine, but I think no one in media would refuse a paycheck for talking about the royals and, as a family, we’re not subject to royal protocol.”
Hmm … we think a LOT of people would refuse a paycheck that required them to publicly insult members of their immediate family, but that’s just us.
Samantha’s favorite justification for her repulsive behavior is that she’s “in the media.”
When pressed about her nasty put-downs, she dismisses them as the result of having “worked in broadcasting and radio for a while,” adding that she’s “always been a bit boisterous.”
So when Samantha shows up at Kensington Palace unannounced and has to be turned away by security, she’s not making her sister’s life a living hell.
No, she’s just trying to earn a living.

Catelynn Lowell Confesses: I Hope My Baby Is A...
Let’s get one thing straight, right up front:
Catelynn Lowell and Tyler Baltierra just want a happy and healthy baby.
The veteran Teen Mom stars, who announced they were expecting a child yesterday, will be content with a newborn of any type.
But Catelynn opened up to Us Weekly in the wake of her pregnancy announcement and admitted that she does have a gender preference.
So does her husband.
There’s no reason to pretend otherwise.
“I think we both want a boy for sure, but also we have Nova,” Lowell explained, referring to the tandem’s three-year-old daughter and adding;
“So it’s, like, if we’re just meant to have girls, we’re meant to have girls.”
The couple also had a girl about nine years ago.
She was named Carly and she was given up for adoption because Catelynn and Tyler didn’t feel ready to be parents.
“It’s like Tyler just makes girls. The guys make the gender,” Catelynn adding, making an accurate reference to science.
Lowell actually shared a photo of her sonogram with the aforementioned tabloid.
She said she got “an early blood test called Sneak Peek,” but “I did it too early… at 10 weeks … and I guess you’re supposed to wait a little longer than 10 weeks.”
A little while from now, at her upcoming upcoming 4-D ultrasound appointment, Catelynn hopes to find out the sex of her child.
How exciting!
The impending little human will be what is known as a “rainbow” baby because it follows a miscarriage.
Both Catelynn and Tyler opened up this past February about suffering such a giant loss just a few weeks earlier, with Catelynn even entering rehab as a result to deal with bouts of depression.
The couple likely would have tried for another baby at some point, but Catelynn admits that wasn’t the plan when she found out she was expecting a few weeks ago.
“It was a huge shock at first,” she says. “We were not planning it, especially after the miscarriage and how I went downhill with my mental illness.”
We’ve admired for a long time how candid Catelynn has been with this struggle.
Tyler was taken aback by the pregnancy at first, but he’s now fully embraced the situation.
“He’s obviously just as happy as I am,” Lowell told Us Weekly. “We love being parents and can’t wait for our newest addition.”
Lowell’s fellow Teen Moms have not yet commented on the pregnancy or sent notes of congratulations.
But we’re here to say that we’re so very happy for Catelynn and Tyler.
They’ve been through more than most famous twosomes, yet they’ve never lost sight of their love for each other and have vowed throughout even the lowest of times to stick by each other’s side.
Good for them.
We wish Catelynn the best in her pregnancy.

Edgar Hansen, Deadliest Catch Co-Star, Confesses to Sexual Abuse
Edgar Hansen, one of the stars on the Discovery Channel’s Deadliest Catch, pleaded guilty in court late last week to the sexual abuse of a 16-year old.
According to The Seattle Times, Hansen confessed to a charge of fourth-degree assault with sexual motivation on Friday.
In exchange for his plea, he received a 364-day suspended prison sentence and was ordered to undergo a sexual deviance evaluation.
He also received two years’ probation and various fees and fines totaling $ 1,653, with an additional $ 4,800 fine suspended, court records show.
Hansen will not serve any time behind bars.
The 47-year old fisherman is the deck boss and key crew member of a Seattle-based crabbing boat helmed by his older brother, Sig Hansen.
The siblings have risen to fame and fortune due to their popular Discovery Channel reality series.
As for the details of this ugly case?
A 16-year-old girl told her therapist in October of last year that Hansen sexually assaulted her at a suburban Seattle home on September 30, 2017.
The aforementioned newspaper cited a probable-cause affidavit filed in Snohomish County District Court to back up this allegation.
This teenager also relayed to the police these same allegations.
In a brief handwritten statement accompanying his guilty plea, Hansen acknowledged “touching [the victim’s] private areas … for the purpose of my own sexual gratification.”
He added:
“I committed this assault… I am very sorry for that conduct and I have commenced treatment to ensure that nothing like this assault ever happens again.”
The victim (unnamed because she is a minor) said Hansen “kissed her on the lips, touched her vagina and had her touch his penis,” prosecutors said in their probable cause affidavit.
Investigators also spoke with Hansen’s wife, who said she “confronted him” after learning of the abuse.
He “initially denied” it, but “eventually admitted that he kissed [the victim] and touched her inappropriately.”
Edgar Hansen’s guilty plea comes just weeks after his famous brother, Sig, was sentenced to probation for spitting on an Uber driver last year.
This Deadliest Catch caption was given a deferred sentence, ordered to undergo alcohol treatment and placed on a year of probation.
Sig told People Magazine at the time that he was “terribly sorry” and “very embarrassed” for his role in this incident.
Sig Hansen is also currently awaiting a decision from the state Court of Appeals over a King County judge’s ruling that would allow a sexual-abuse lawsuit brought by his estranged daughter, Melissa Eckstrom, to proceed to trial.
He has denied her claims referring to Eckstrom’s law suit “an old-fashioned shakedown.”
Also of note, in regard to Deadliest Catch, Blake Painter, a former captain on the show, died in May of a suspected drug overdose.
Neither Hansen sibling nor any Discovery Channel representative has spoken yet on Edgar Hansen’s crime.

Demi Lovato Confesses to Relapse in New Single
We’ve always held Demi Lovato in great admiration because the singer has talked so openly about her past use of drugs and alcohol.
Sadly, however, the artist is now here to talk about her current use of drugs and alcohol.
In her new track, “Sober,” Lovato makes it rather clear that she recently fell off the wagon, although the details of when and how are left undiscussed.
Following six years of avoiding dangerous substances, Lovato sings the following in the newly-released music video for this track:
Mama, I’m so sorry I’m not sober anymore/And Daddy, please forgive me for the drinks spilled on the floor.
To the ones who never left me / We’ve been down this road before/I’m so sorry, I’m not sober anymore.
Later in the moving single, the Grammy nominee apologizes to her “future love” and “the fans I lost,” breaking our heart as she confesses:
I wanna be a role model/But I’m only human.
I’m sorry that I’m here again/I promise I’ll get help /It wasn’t my intention/I’m sorry to myself.
Lovato has been an outspoken voice in Hollywood over the past few years.
She has detailed her hard drug use, which started at a young age, and has even said that she considered suicide at seven years old.
It was just three months ago that Lovato celebrated her aforementioned sobriety milestone, writing on social media at the time:
“So grateful for another year of joy, health and happiness. It IS possible.”
We sincerely hope that Demi realizes it still is possible and that no one is judging her for this relapse.
She merely has to take once glance through her comments on Twitter to come to this realization.
“We appreciate your truth. We love you regardless of everything. We have no idea how hard it was for you, but remember you’re never alone. Stay strong!” one Twitter user wrote, while another added:
“I’m so proud of you Demi to share the truth must be hard for you but know that true Lovatics would never ever judge you… We [are] here for you.”
Lovato has struggled in life with addiction, bipolar disorder and an eating disorder.
She first checked into rehab at the age of 18 in 2010 and then entered a sober house for about a year in 2013.
I wasn’t ready to get sober,” she recalled in her 2017 YouTube documentary, Simply Complicated, adding in this revealing look:
“I was sneaking [cocaine] on planes, sneaking it in bathrooms, sneaking it throughout the night. Nobody knew.”
The former Disney Channel star also co-owns CAST Centers, the Los Angeles treatment facility where she was a patient as a teenager and where she now hopes to help others in her situation.

Sophia Bush Confesses: I Never Wanted to Marry Chad Michael Murray
Sophia Bush has been divorced from Chad Michael Murray for well over a decade.
The former One Tree Hill co-stars got married in April of 2015 and split up just five months later, shattering the hopes and dreams of all who watched and adored their WB drama.
This all played out a very long time ago, yet Bush stopped by Andy Cohen’s Sirius XM radio show this week and dredged up the ancient and awkward past.
In an interview with the Bravo executive, Bush actually said she didn’t even marry Murray out of love.
She agreed to the legal union due to pressure from those associated with One Tree Hill.
“It was like the second season, but everyone’s been 22 and stupid,” Bush said of the relationship, adding that marriage “was not a thing I actually really wanted to do” and later explaining:
“Ladies have to learn how to take up space in the way that men are taught that they are entitled to.”
Interesting, huh?
And very layered and sort of vague and confusing, right?
“If you didn’t want to get married, how do you get to the point of being talked into it?” asked Cohen.
“How do you let everybody down?” the actress responded, continuing:
“And how do you – what’s the fight and when you have bosses telling you that you’re the only person who gets a person to work on time and 200 people either get to see their kids at night or they don’t because our days start on time?”
So… Bush was talked into being with Murray because she could control him on set?
“Life is always loaded,” she told Cohen. “What the public knows ever is never – it’s not the tip of the iceberg.
“Hilarie [Burton] and I used to laugh and we were like, ‘If we had a behind-the-scenes show, the drama would be so much f-cking better than the drama that the writers write."”
Shortly after her interview with viral, Bush tried to walk back her apparent criticism of Murray.
She Tweeted that she was making fun of herself, not her former co-star and husband.
“When you’re taking the piss out of yourself – b/c people can’t let the past go & you really wish they would – & gossip rags try to turn it into inappropriate drama rather than self-deprication,” she wrote.
“Don’t twist people’s words, y’all. If it wasn’t clear, I was making fun of MYSELF.”
Murray, however, was among those who took offense to Bush bringing up their marriage all this time later.
Especially when she did absolutely say that the romance had as much to do with her professional obligations as how she actually felt about Murray.
“This story is ludicrous,” a rep for the actor said in a response statement, adding:
“Chad conducts himself in a completely professional manner and would never marry for any reason but love.
“Thirteen years since his divorce from Sophia, he has a very happy family life with his wife and children.
“He has completely moved on and doesn’t feel the need to engage in this type of behavior.”

The Bachelorette Recap: Colton Confesses! Becca Responds! Some Dude Cries!
Becca learned the truth about one of her suitors on The Bachelorette this week.
No, not the one who apparently wants to make America great again via some really controversial viewpoints.
But the one who actually used to date one of Becca’s close friends.
Whoa there, right? Talk about awkward!
We’ll start with the first group date of Season 14, however, which went to Clay, Nick, Chris R., David, Jean-Blanc, Jordan, Connor and Lincoln.
Kufrin actually fooled the fellas them into thinking they were in for a day of pampering when she surprised them with custom suits and champagne.
Everyone looked rather spiffy, as you can see above.
However, the actual activity ended up being a marriage-themed obstacle course hosted by last season’s Bachelorette Rachel Lindsay and her fiancé (yes, they’re still together!), Bryan Abasolo.
Lincoln came out on top in this event, earning a framed photo of himself and Becca for his efforts.
Things got a little weird from there, though.
Already irritating all the guys in his path, Lincolm insisted on propping the picture up on the table in front of the rest of the suitors during the date.
He also talked to it, interacted with it and, yes, kissed it multiple times.
In response, Connor hurled the photo into the pool, which prompted Lincoln to run off and whine to Becca.
“I feel threatened, physically,” he told The Bachelorette, who somehow managed to mediate the dispute without getting her rolled eyes stuck in the back of her head.
Becca eventually gives the group date rose to Jean-Blanc.
The next morning, Lincoln ended up crying – yes, real tears – over what transpired with the picture.
This guy seems like a real keeper… NOT!
For her first one-on-one date since Arie Luyendyk Jr. broke up with her on national television, Blake joined Becca at a warehouse full of Arie-themed memorabilia.
Really. This was the date, you guys.
The two then proceeded to violently destroy everything, all while Lil Jon‘s “Turn Down for What” played in the background.
Later that evening, Blake and Becca sat down for dinner and the former opened up about his previous romance, saying he found out his girlfriend at the time was about to dump him when he saw a few texts from her friend pop up on her phone.
He was trying to relate to Becca’s Bachelor-based heartbreak.
We guess it worked, too, since he received a rose after this meal concluded.
“Since night one, I have felt such comfort and a sense of ease with you,” she told him. “I feel like we’re on the same page with what we’re looking for in life and it just restores so much hope.”
The next day, it was group date number-two time with Garrett, Rickey, John, Ryan, Alex, Christon, Trent, Leo, Wills and Colton.
The men competed in an intense game of dodgeball, but it only served as precusor for the intense conversation Colton would have with Becca a few hours later.
Much to our Bachelorette’s shock, Colton came clean about a short-lived relationship with Tia Booth, who competed on The Bachelor alongside Becca and who is close pals with Kufrin.
(Another fun, romantic fact: Colton also dated Olympic gymnast Aly Raisman!)
“We had a weekend together and we had a good time, but for me the timing wasn’t right to grow what was a spark into a flame,” he explained Becca, adding:
“If my feelings were strong enough, I wouldn’t have came on [the show]. I think that from what I know of you, we could build something awesome.
“We could have the time. Whereas it wasn’t there, moving forward, with her.”
Becca, who gave her group date on this case to Willis, didn’t react positively to Colton’s confession.
“I’m not going to lie – I don’t know how I feel about it,” she replied.
“It makes me feel a little bit sick. I’m very attracted to you, I really like where our conversation was on night one and I feel like we had a lot in common, but it’s a very tricky situation.
“It puts me in a very strange position. It’s just a lot to take in right now.”
At the cocktail party prior to the Rose Ceremony, Jordan stripped down to his underwear…
… but Becca barely even noticed.
All she could think about was what Colton told her.
“I feel like I see something in you that I’m very attracted to, and there’s that interest there,” she said, basically trying to come to grips with a physical attraction to a guy who likely porked one of her friends.
Added Becca:
“Until I have more clarity, I don’t even want to really invest in this relationship. So if you sense that I am holding back with you, I am.”

Kailyn Lowry Confesses to Javi Marroquin Hook-Up (EEEK!)
It turns out, you actually can believe some things you read on the Internet.
Over the past couple weeks, plenty of rumors have been circulating around the Internet based on what went down at the Teen Mom 2 reunion taping in New York City last month.
Did Kailyn Lowry try to fight Briana DeJesus?
Yes, Kailin herself has admitted.
But Lowry didn"t really hook up with ex-husband Javi Marroquin at some point in the past few months, as was apparently revealed on stage at this gathering…
… did she?!?
YES, Kailyn herself has also now revealed.

Javi and Kailyn were married for four years and filed for divorce in 2016. They share an adorable son named Lincoln… and quite the sordid history.

Now? Marroquin recently said he and Lowry are on strong terms and have the sort of connection no one else really understands. “We’’e doing a lot better communicating.. We’re doing really well,” he recently told OK! Weekly.

Toward the end of May 2018, Lowry’s ex-girlfriend, Dominique Potter, hinted that Kailyn had cheated on her with Javi, meaning the exes got together (sexually) at some point in the semi-recent past. Could this be true?

Lowry has now confirmed this unexpected escapade. She wrote this Tweet in response to the chatter that has emanated from the reunion taping.

Kanye West Confesses to Opioid Addiction
If you follow him on Twitter, you probably know that Kanye West has recently been engaging in some behavior that’s eccentric even by his standards.
Returning to the social media platform following a lengthy hiatus, the rapper has been tweeting out the sort of impressionistic insprational slogans that might be irritating coming from any other celeb, but are strangely endearing as a result of Kanye’s sincerity.
Nothing surprising there, of course.
What’s caught fans off guard is West’s commitment to his own position on the political spectrum.
We knew prior to the president’s inauguration that Kanye supported Trump, but many thought ‘Ye was simply drawn to a similar-sized ego, and comments he’s made over the course of the past year led fans to believe he’d joined his wife and in-laws with more of a center-left alignment.
But West’s recent tweets have created the impression that he’s more engaged than ever before with conservative thinkers like Candace Owens and Scott Adams.
Shifting political beliefs generally aren’t considered cause for concern, but West’s unexpected views have prompted widespread speculation about his mental state.
And one high-profile media figure has offered insight into what he feels is the primary cause of the rapper’s recent unexpected statements, as well as the erratic behavior West engaged in last year.
Hot 97 host Ebro Darden claims he recently received a phone call from Kanye in which the rapper discussed his recent tweets and accused his friends and fans of being fickle in their support, saying:
“He went on to talk about, ‘Nobody really showed love to me when I was addicted to opioids and in the hospital,"”
While we already knew that Kanye was hospitalized in 2017, the previous explanation was that he had suffered a mental breakdown as a result of professional and family pressures.
Darden says he called West out on his claims that he didn’t receive any support from his high-profile friends during his rehabilitation process:
“You’re a liar. I said, ‘I know people who personally reached out to [Pusha T], Scooter Braun and anybody close to you to come to your aid,"” Darden recalls telling the rapper.
“People love you, bro. And people wanna love you.”
Darden says West also made no apologies for the political views that seem to have upset so many of his followers in the past week.
“Kanye West, quote, ‘I love Donald Trump,"” Darden told his co-hosts on his popular radio show yesterday.
Kanye has yet to speak out about his alleged struggles with addiction, but you can bet he won’t remain silent for long.
Say what you will about the man, he’s never been one to shy away from controversy or conflict.

Mackenzie McKee Confesses Secret Split: Josh & I Broke Up!
It’s still unclear if Mackenzie McKee will replace Farrah Abraham on Teen Mom OG, but MTV certainly seems to have taken an interest in McKee in recent months.
The former Teen Mom 3 star will be featured in a one-off special about her life that recenlty wrapped filming and is set to air next month.
As a businesswoman, fitness fanatic, and married mother of three, McKee is unquestionably one of the most functional of the alums of the Teen Mom universe.
Unfortunately, no amount of ambition and intellect can shield you from flat-out bad luck.
You see, the years since TM3 was canceled haven’t always been terribly kind to Mackenzie.
McKee’s mother was recently diagnosed with stage 4 cancer, and the special will focus largely on Mackenzie’s efforts to be there for her mother, while running a business and meeting the demands of raising three children.
It will explore the ups and downs of Mackenzie’s marriage and even reveal a surprising secret about her painful past:
In a recent interview with Radar Online, Mackenzie revealed that she was concerned that Josh might not want to participate in the special at all, as doing so would mean shining on a light on a rather dark chapter in their marriage.
“The first person I asked was Josh because I didn’t want to do it if he wasn’t on the same page as me,” she told the site.
“We were split up and seeing other people during Teen Mom 3.”
Yes, it seems that throughout the filming of TM3’s single season, Mackenzie and Josh “pretended to be together.”
“He would run and I just had to cry, ‘Oh my boyfriend is missing,’” she admitted.
“It was honestly horrible.”
Mackenzie gave birth to her third child, a son named Broncs, in 2016.
She and Josh were reconciled at the time, and while she had hoped that the arrival of Broncs would bring the two of them closer, the pressures of caring for a third child nearly tore them apart.
“I was in a really dark place,” she confessed.
“Then I had [our third child] Broncs [in 2016] and it got even worse. He actually left and ended up filing for divorce. I think we were separated for two months.”
Fortunately, Mackenzie and Josh are doing much better these days.
“Since then we opened up our own businesses and we got a house that’s a very nice home for our kids,” she said.
“But we’re still a hot mess,” she joked, concluding on a lighter note.
Mackenzie became a fan favorite during her short time on TM3, and we’re sure her still-loyal following will be happy to hear that her marriiage has turned around.’
And the continued interest in McKee’s personal life might just be enough to land her back on MTV on a full-time basis.

Joy-Anna Duggar Confesses: My Parents" Religion Is Too Strict!
Back in May of 2017, Joy-Anna Duggar married Austin Forsyth.
Just nine months later, Joy welcomed her first child.
Needless to say, at just 20 years old, Joy is already eagerly following in the footsteps of her mother and older sisters by devoting her life to marriage and motherhood in accordance with her family’s religious views.
But it seems she wasn’t always thrilled with the prospect of keeping the faith.
In a newly released preview of tonight’s episode of Counting On, Joy is seen giving a heartfelt speech the rehearsal dinner for Joseph Duggar and Kendra Caldwell’s wedding.
It seems Joy and Joe share a special bond, and he helped through an extraordinarily difficult period in her youth.
As she reveals in her speech, Joy had some serious doubts about the religious beliefs that shaped her upbringing, and Joe was both a guiding light and a source of love and support during this uncertain time.
“I can’t speak and cry. It’s terrible. First of all I want to say that Joe, I’m so thankful for you,” Joy says in her speech.
“You really did change my life.”
Joy goes on to reveal that her crisis of faith made her feel like an outsider at times, and Joe was always quick to remind her that she still belongs:
“Just through my teen years, I think I was having a hard time taking my parents’ faith as my own and you really befriended me as an older brother, and [were] the first in the morning to say ‘I love you’ and ‘What are you going to do today?’ and stuff like that,” she says.
“It just really meant a lot to me.”
It doesn’t sound like Joy ever fully abandoned her parents’ belief system or explored other faiths, but this is the first time that one of Michelle and Jim Bob’s children has admitted to harboring doubts about the beliefs that dominate all aspects of life in the Duggar home.
It’s a reminder that Joy once seemed to be the Duggar most likely “break away” and pursue a life far from her parents’ home that looked very different from the environment she was raised in.
A tomboy who seemed more interested in sports and the outdoors than marriage and family, Joy seemed to have little interest in pursuing the life that had been assigned to her at birth.
Needless to say, these days she’s given up the struggle and seems happy in her pious, domestic life she’s built for herself.
Her parents are likely thrilled – but it’s a disappointing turn of events for many Duggar fans.

Kim Kardashian Confesses: Surrogacy is Harder than Pregnancy!
At the beginning of the week, Kim and Kanye welcome their third child — a healthy baby girl.
We don’t yet know the youngest West child’s name, but we do know how she was born. Kim’s pregnancy via surrogacy was … not exactly secret.
But now Kim is opening up about everything about her pregnancy and her huge decision to have this child via surrogate.
In a post on her app, Kim Kardashian spoke about her pregnancy decision — about her surrogate, why she chose that route, and about her healthy baby daughter.
“It’s as if she was with us the whole time,” she says of her new baby. She then explains that, because of her history with pre-eclampsia and placenta accreta, this was really her only option.
“Doctors said that it wasn’t safe for my, or the baby’s, health to carry my own.”
Which, of course, is why Kim and Kanye opted for what she refers to as a “gestational carrier,” but almost everyone else refers to as a surrogate.
In case there’s any confusion about whose gametes got to mingle to make the third Kimye baby, Kim clarifies that her child is “biologically mine and Kanye’s.”
Did anyone really think otherwise? Kim’s eggs work just fine; it’s the placentas that form in her body that try to kill her.
Are you ready to hear about how hard it is having a surrogate? Because Kim’s ready to tell you.
“Having a gestational carrier is definitely different, but anyone who says or thinks it’s the easy way out is completely wrong.”
Well, sure. For one thing, it’s super duper expensive, which is likely why the mysterious surrogate hired by Kim and Kanye agreed to it in the first place, though we don’t know how rich the surrogate may now be.
Kim says that it’s not all carefree fun, though.
“People assume it’s better because you don’t have to deal with the physical changes, pain, or complications with delivery.”
Well … yeah.
“But for me it was so hard to not carry my own child, especially after I carried North and Saint.”
Ah. She’s talking about bonding. Not the baby’s bonding — her nameless third child is doing plenty of that. But Kim’s own bonding.
But, clearly, she still feels that having a surrogate is better than dying.
As for her surrogate, Kim says that she “trusted her completely throughout the entire process.”
That’s great. I think that we’ve all seen one episode of a crime show or another where a couple’s surrogacy plans didn’t turn out as they’d expected.
Normal couples have to worry that their surrogate will change her mind and keep their child. For Kim, there must have been fears of spilling secrets.
“I’m so grateful for modern technology and that this is even possible.”
Scientists have actually made an artificial womb recently, and I believe that they were able to grow a lamb in it. Some say that this is the future of surrogacy — parents could watch development in a little nook within their home. Just putting that out there.
But, to be clear, Kim isn’t trying to push this idea on everyone.
“It’s not for everyone, but I absolutely love my gestational carrier and this was the best experience I’ve ever had.”
Considering that Kim’s pregnancies were high risk, we’d imagine so.
“Having a gestational carrier was so special for us and she made our dreams of expanding our family come true.”
We’re so glad that this worked out so well for Kim.
Though Kim is quick to make it clear that she did this because she might have died otherwise, let’s make something clear:
There’s nothing wrong with surrogacy, even with zero medical necessity. It shouldn’t have any stigma attached to it.
Many like the idea of having a surrogate simply so that they don’t have to go through pain and suffering to birth a child.
And those who can afford the service may also like the idea of financially assisting the person who’s helping them have a child.
It’s a win-win scenario. The only losers are people who think that a natural birth is the only way, and those folks are losers anyway.
