Ed Schultz: Former MSNBC Host and Radio Personality Passes Away at 64
Ed Schultz has passed away.at his lake home in Minnesota.
The former MSNBC host and radio personality died from natural causes.
Schultz was 64 years old.
Schultz began his career in Fargo, broadcasting the news on both TV and radio in the 1890s.
Eventually, he began work as a commentator and host at MSNBC.
He was known for his progressive values, particularly as he championed the rights of workers.
He was a passionate defender of middle class and working class Americans, and used his show as a platform on which to espouse those values.
The Ed Show was broadcast on weekday afternoons until its cancelation in 2015.
In 2016, Ed Schultz puzzled some with his controversial choice.
After years of verbally excoriating Russian President Vladimir Putin, he went to work for the American version of RT, Russia’s state-controlled media and Putin’s personal propaganda machine.
But Schultz objected to the characterization, and explained his choice.
“RT completes the picture of the events in the U.S. and around the globe,” Schultz said. “Giving viewers access to a range of stories, voices and opinions, and a real opportunity to speak their minds.”
There are certainly plenty of arguments in favor of keeping an eye on how even hostile foreign governments are presenting the news.
Ed Schultz married his current wife, Wendy Schultz, in 1998.
Just a few years before his death, he revealed her struggle with ovarian cancer.
Wendy is the mother of Ed’s six children.
It was in seeking medical treatment for his mother during her battle with Alzheimer’s in the 1990s that his political leanings swung towards the left.
Ed has stated that he and his sons are gun owners, but that he supports certain gun control regulations.
He has stated that he does not believe in abortion because of his Christian beliefs, but he has also acknowledged that Roe v Wade is the law of the land.
Ed passed away on Thursday, July 5 of natural causes.
His death came as a shock to people who had followed his career for years or even decades, going back to when he was a sportscaster in Fargo.
Ed had friendships on both sides of the political aisle. Standing up for working Americans should not be considered partisan.
Ed Schultz will be sorely missed by his friends and loved ones.

Mark Halperin Placed on Leave by MSNBC Amidst Sexual Misconduct Claims
Mark Halperin, a veteran political journalist who has been accused by five women of sexual harassment, has been placed on leave by MSNBC.
The network made the announcement about 12 hours after these damaging allegations were made against Halperin, saying via statement:
“Mark Halperin is leaving his role as a contributor until the questions around his past conduct are fully understood.”
On Wednesday night, shortly after news of these charges went viral, Halperin confirmed in his own statement that he had not always acted appropriately with women in the past.
“During this period, I did pursue relationships with women that I worked with, including some junior to me,” he said in a statement to CNN, adding:
“I now understand from these accounts that my behavior was inappropriate and caused others pain.
“For that, I am deeply sorry and I apologize.
“Under the circumstances, I’m going to take a step back from my day-to-day work while I properly deal with this situation.”
The allegations against Halperin stem from his tenure as political director at ABC News.
While the reporter was vague about what he was owning up to, his accusers claims his propositioned them for sex… touched their breasts… and/or pressed his genitals up against them while clothed.
Halperin is maybe best known for co-authoring the bestselling book “Game Change,” which was made into an HBO movie starring Julianne Moore as Sarah Palin.
He has also anchored a program on Bloomberg TV and was prominently featured in Showtime’s “The Circus,” a series that chronicled the 2016 campaign cycle and the early days of the Donald Trump presidency.
Said ABC News in response to this story:
“Mark left ABC News over a decade ago, and no complaints were filed during his tenure.
These allegations come on the heels of more disturbing information also coming to light regarding Bill O’Reilly and the massive amount of money he paid to alleged sexual harassment victims in exchange for their silence.
According to a new New York Times article, O’Reilly shelled out $ 32 million in a settlement to one accuser alone.
Then, of course, there’s the case of Harvey Weinstein.
The long-time movie producer has now been accused by 54 women of having harassed or assaulted them.
The Times has reported on eight settlements he reached with his accusers, while various actresses and women who have worked in Hollywood have been coming forward with harrowing tales of interactions with Weinstein.
As a contributor to MSNBC, meanwhile, Halperin made regular appearances on Morning Joe and other news programs.
We doubt we see him back on that network again.

Greta Van Susteren: Out at MSNBC!
Greta Van Susteren’s tenure at MSNBC is over after just six months.
Van Susteren anchored For The Record With Greta during the 6 p.m. time slot, but it never quite managed to catch on in the ratings.
In Quarter 2 of 2017, the series barely registered, settling for a meager 39th place among all shows. It’s an embarrassingly low figure, and many questioned how long the series would last with such low ratings.
Her replacement will be Ari Melber, who is currently an MSNBC chief legal correspondent and weekend host. His show is slated to debut sometime in July.
“We have enjoyed having her on our air, and we’re thankful to her and the show team,” MSNBC president Phil Griffin confirmed in a memo about the fate of the series.
Greta confirmed her departure via social media and had some wise words to share.
Greta was then quizzed by fans about the reasons surrounding her exit from MSNBC so soon, with some questioning whether the ratings were a factor in the network’s decision.
“I wish I knew..the show was less than 6 months and I thought our staff put together a smart and fair show.”
One user went as far as calling Greta “bitter.” Wouldn’t anyone feel a little resentment towards their employer if they lost their job in an instant?
“Actually not bitter..merely surprised,” fired back at the troll.
“I am very fortunate-we should worry about those who lose jobs who don’t have options,” she replied to someone else who actually wished her well.
On her future plans, Greta confirmed she had an app and book in the pipeline, but stressed that she did not know what else was on the horizon for her.
“If anyone from a news organization calls, I will listen..otherwise will look to other projects,” Van Susteren wrote.
What do you think about all of this?
Sound off below!

Kurt Eichenwald: MSNBC Contributor Accidentally Reveals Love of Anime Tentacle Porn
Kurt Eichenwald is a political commentator who’s best known for his ability to be liked by no one.
Actually, that’s not fair.
Eichenwald is best known for butting heads with bow tie enthusiast and noted wedgie target Tucker Carlson, one of the few people on the planet who might be more loathed than Kurt.
It doesn’t matter if you lean left or right in your political views, Eichenwald and Carlson both suck out loud, and they’ve both devoted their sad careers to Mad Maxing their ways across the post-apocalyptic media hellscape created by Roger Ailes.
We know, we know:
You clicked on a headline about tentacle porn, and we’re boring you with a feud between two middle-aged, basic cable sad sacks who probably put their number of Twitter followers on their resumes.
The reason we bring up the Eichenwald-Carlson feud is because it came to a head today in hilarious fashion when we learned that one of them likes to crank it to the sight of comely cartoon chicks having their way with horny sea creatures.
You see, Eichenwald was in the process of accusing Carlson followers of sending him anti-Semitic flyers (even though he’s not Jewish) in order to intimidate him.
To prove it, he posted this screenshot:
“Since being on your show, I get things like this a lot, most always from ppl mentioning u,” Eichenwald tweeted, along with the pic.
“Ur the Julius Streicher of Fox,” he added, referring to the publisher of an anti-Semitic newspaper.
Inflammatory stuff.
But it was quickly overshadowed by something that has little to do with politics and everything to do with Kurt’s love of sexy, girl-on-squid action.
Twitter quickly noticed that one of the open tabs on Eichenwald’s computer reads “B-Chiku,” referring to a type of animated tentacle porn.
Rather than just copping to getting off on octo-sex, Kurt offered an unlikely explanation involving … his entire family?
“Sigh. Ok, I’m a dumbass. Believe it or not, my kids & I were trying to convince my wife that ‘tentacle porn’ existed,” Eichenwald tweeted.
“I tried to find some to show her it was real. But I couldn’t find any – & ended up w/ this. My family reads my twitter feed, so they know this is true.”
He added:
“No one hacked my account. We were searching to prove to my wife tentacle porn exists … I’ve got nothing left to say about this. Believe what I say or dont. Think my family has odd conversations (we do) or don’t. So it goes.”
It’s worth noting that Eichenwald’s kids are grown … but still.
So we guess Carlson wins the day?
That said, we’re sure he’d prefer that his victory didn’t involve tentacle porn.
