27 Scandals That Rocked Reality TV

Just when you think it can"t get any worse than Kenya Moore going off on Porsha Williams, along comes Juan Pablo Galavis.

And then just when you think the lowest rung of the reality TV ladder has been reached due to the outright racism of the Big Brother 15 cast, along comes Teresa Giudice actually going to jail due to financial fraud.

And then just when you"re willing to write these examples off as exceptions and embrace reality television again, along comes Josh Duggar confessing to sexual molestation and… well…

… it doesn"t get any more grotesque than that.

Here is a look at 27 scandals that have absolutely rocked the world of reality television.

1. Josh Duggar Admits to Sexual Molestation

That title says it all, doesn’t it? In the spring of 2015, Josh Duggar of 19 Kids and Counting fame apologized for molesting multiple young girls when he was a teenager.

2. TLC Cancels Here Comes Honey Boo Boo

Give the network credit. It pulled the plug as soon as rumors spread of June Shannon dating her daughter’s former molester. EWWWWW!

3. Big Brother 15

Just the entire season, really. These homophobic and racist cast members caused us to lose faith in pretty much all of humanity.

4. Everyone Hates Juan Pablo Galavis

Juan Pablo Galavis was asked about a potentially gay Bachelor and responded: “I respect [gay people], but I honestly don’t think it is a good example for kids to watch that on TV.” He then went out and sounded like an even bigger moron during the actual season.

5. Duck Dynasty Debate

Phil Robertson also got in trouble for making homophobic remarks to GQ. He then issued a statement that read: “My mission today is to go forth and tell people about why I follow Christ and also what the bible teaches, and part of that teaching is that women and mean are meant to be together. However, I would never treat anyone with disrespect just because they are different from me.”

6. Jon and Kate Plus HATE

Jon and Kate Plus 8 was once a beloved show on TLC. Until it was revealed that Jon and Kate actually hated each other and were kind of terrible people.

1. Miss US… NAY!

After Donald Trump made controversial comments about Mexican immigrants, NBC refused to air the Trump-owned Miss USA pageant in 2015.

2. Katie Rees

Katie Rees was crowned Miss Nevada in 2007… only to then lose her crown after sexually-explicit images from the year before went viral. She was also charged with meth possession in 2015.

3. Emily Kachote

Miss Zimbabwe 2015 also was forced to vacate her crown after naked photos hit the Internet.

4. Saly Greige and Doron Matalon

Lebanese Miss Universe 2015 contestant Saly Greige and Miss Israel Doron Matalon stirred up major controversy despite keeping their clothes on: the beauties dared to be photographed together despite Lebanon and Israel have been at war since 2006.

5. Carrie Prejean

Carrie Prejean was the first runner-up for Miss USA in 2009. She made major headlines for coming out against gay marriage in her Q&A segment, eventually losing her Miss California crown due to breach of contract.

6. Jamie France

Jamie France won Miss Teen Oregon-World in 2009. No problem there. But she was then arrested on drug charges in 2014.

Josh Duggar Net Worth: Did Sex Scandals Leave Him Broke?

It’s been nearly two years since the world learned the shocking news that reality star Josh Duggar molested five young girls, four of whom were his sisters.

In the months that followed, fans of Josh’s family would bear witness to a number of appalling revelations, including the fact that Josh’s parents helped cover up his crimes.

Amazingly (and disconcertingly), Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar have recovered from the scandal and have even been granted a second chance at TV stardom with TLC’s Counting On.

Obviously, Josh hasn’t been shown the same forgiveness.

Of course, the fact that he was caught up in a second sex scandal later that same year certainly didn’t help his cause.

Just three months after the world learned that Josh had molested his sisters, it was revealed that the 28-year-old father of four had cheated on his wife, Anna Duggar, using paid accounts on Ashley Madison, a website designed to facilitate affairs between married men and women.

In all likelihood, audiences never would’ve forgiven Josh’s first round of indiscretions, but the second revelation put the nail in his reputation’s coffin.

The cheating allegations confirmed that he’s a man with some very severe issues and that the his family made the right choice by excluding him from their their second-chance reality series.

But while Josh will likely never return to television, he’s still doing quite well for himself these days.

Josh’s sexual misconduct derailed his career as a D.C. lobbyist, but he’s landed on his feet back home in Arkansas.

Josh has taken over the family business of repairing and re-selling used cars.

If you watch Counting On online, you know that the side-business has been tremendously lucrative for several members of the Duggar clan.

On Saturday, the Duggar Family News Facebook page confirmed that Josh has expanded his mini-empire with a second location.

“Josh’s new car lot is up and running,” the source wrote.

The proprietor the page reveled in Josh’s downfall (as we all should), writing:

“Josh is back to his used car selling roots after a quick flirtation with politics and sex workers in DC.

“I wonder how he is settling down to living a boring life in Arkansas after all the excitement he came to know in DC.”

The writer adds:

“I recall his Instagram photo taken from the balcony of John Boehner’s office overlooking the National Mall and think all he’s taking photos of now are 20 year old cars with high mileage.”

Yes, it’s certainly been a precipitous fall from grace for Josh, but the sad fact is, he’s still doing much better than just about anyone in his hometown who doesn’t share his last name.

Several sources close to the family have estimated Josh’s net worth at roughly $ 200,000.

Now, that’s certainly a far cry from Jim Bob Duggar’s net worth, but Josh certainly isn’t struggling.

Josh is facing a number of lawsuits, but in all likelihood, he’ll emerge from them unscathed.

Consider this your daily reminder that the world is a deeply unfair place.

9 HGTV Scandals That Rocked the Small Screen

HGTV is the small screen destination for shows about flipping, flopping and many different kinds of home renovations.

But it"s also been the destination for quite a few scandals over the years.

1. A Stunning Separation

Chip and Joanna Gaines host Fixer Upper. Viewers adore this cute couple. But they came under fire after a Buzzfeed article pointed out that the series has not only never featured a gay couple, but that the pastor at the church these two attend is strongly against gay marriage and seems to think homosexuals can be made into heterosexuals.

3. More LGBT Trouble

In 2014, the network also pulled the plug on the program “Flip It Forward” in the middle of production after it was uncovered that the hosts, David and Jason Benham, were REALLY anti-gay. A video actually surfaced online of David talking about “homosexuality and its agenda that is attacking the nation,” as you can read more about by CLICKING THE ABOVE HEADLINE.

4. House Hunters is STAGED!

This is really not shocking. But, in 2012, one of the ex-home buyers featured on the program said her while experience was simply made by producers. Nothing we saw was real. In a statement addressing the controversy, the network even admitted to “managing certain production and time constraints.”

5. A Property Brothers BRAWL!

In 2016, Jonathan Scott – one handsome half of the sibling duo behind Property Brothers – was thrown out of a North Dakota bar in 2016 because he got into a fight with the bouncer when his drink was taken away at closing time.

6. Flip or Flop Stars Flop

More drama from Christina and Tarek El Moussa, on the professional front: According to many attendees for October 2016 classes from the couple on how to flip houses, the El Moussas did not show up in person, leading to the the classes quickly devolving into a sales pitch for other of the couple’s products.

Austin Forsyth: Does Joy-Anna Duggar"s New Man Know About the Josh Sex Scandals?

Earlier this week, we reported that Joy-Anna Duggar is courting Austin Forsyth.

If you’re familiar with the Duggar way of doing things, you know that courting is like dating on steroids.

The Duggars describe it as a sort of “pre-engagement” in which new couples spend a chaste, chaperoned few weeks together (virtually all physical contact is forbidden) in order to decide if they should take the next step.

Most of the time, the arrangement results in a proposal, as in the cases of Jill, Jessa and Jinger Duggar.

On rare occasions, one or both parties decide to call the whole thing off, as in the case of Josiah Duggar and Marjorie Jackson.

Either way, courting never goes on for very long, so Duggar fans take an intense interest when it’s announced (and it’s always announced) that one of the Duggar kids has entered a courtship.

Of course, these days there’s a shadow hanging over all new Duggar relationships in the form of the Josh Duggar sex scandals.

It’s been rumored that it was the allegations against Josh – and his family’s attempts to hide his crimes – from authorities that led to the dissolution of Marjorie and Josiah’s relationship.

Details are scarce, but it’s widely believed that Marjorie’s family only had vague notions about Josiah’s disgraced older brother and insisted that their daughter end her association with the Duggars upon learning that they sheltered a child molester for several years.

One would think the Duggars would have learned their lesson, but insiders claim they’re repeating the same mistakes with the Forsyth family by attempting to keep Austin and his parents in the dark about Josh’s shameful past.

While Austin’s immediate family has kept mum, Radar Online recently spoke with several relatives of Austin’s, all of whom claimed to have no knowledge of the Josh scandals.

“I don’t know anything about any of that,” said Austin’s grandfather when asked about Josh’s past.

“I don’t know anything,” Austin’s great-grandmother echoed.

It’s hard to imagine that anyone who takes even a passing interest in the lives of the Duggars could be unaware of Josh’s sexual misconduct, but the family is part of an isolated community that avoids most forms of media.

So while it seems unlikely, it is possible that Austin’s family, and perhaps even Austin himself, are unaware of the shocking controversy that led to the cancelation of 19 Kids and Counting – the show that made the Duggars famous.

Jude Law once had a casual fling with model Samantha Burke and then requested a paternity test when she became pregnant. As it turns, out the baby was his! Whoops!

Josh Duggar Re-Surfaces on Facebook For First Time Since Sex Scandals

It’s been over a year since the world learned that when he was in his teens, Josh Duggar molested five young girls, four of whom were his sisters.

During that time, Josh was involved in a second sex scandal when it was revealed that he used an Ashley Madison account to help him cheat on his wife.

The Duggars shipped Josh off to a faith-based rehab center in Illinois, and they clearly hoped that the press and their detractors would forget that the family had harbored a child molester once he was out of sight. 

To the surprise of no one whose name doesn’t start with “D” and end with “-uggar,” the ploy didn’t work.

Josh is still reviled by many former Duggar fans, and it’s not surprising that his first post-scandal appearance in public (at a freakin’ mini-golf course, no less) did not go well.

(Picture angry villagers chasing Frankenstein into the quick sand with torches and pitchforks, and you’ll have some idea of the reaction.)

But the Duggars remain determined to get fans to forgive (or at least forget) their son’s many indiscretions, and yesterday, they reintroduced him to their social media followers via the first family photo featuring Josh since he was released from rehab:

Yes, that’s the Duggar men at an airshow in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, and b’gosh, there’s Josh on the far left, wearing a brown shirt and looking like he’s packed on a few pounds.

“It was such a joy to spend 3 days with my 10 sons and 2 of my grandsons at the 2016 EAA Oshkosh Airshow,” family patriarch Jim Bob captioned the above pic.

“We all love aviation and being together. Thousands of planes flew in, and hundreds of thousands of people will attend. It is amazing!”

Obviously, it looks like the Duggar women weren’t invited, but in this case, that might be for the best.

Josh Duggar to Offer Televised Apology For Sex Scandals?!

Back when it was first announced that TLC would be picking up a full season of Jill & Jessa: Counting On, the network assured viewers that disgraced eldest son Josh Duggar would not be appearing on the show.

However, now that execs have ordered a second season of Counting On, but failed to offer a similar guarantee, some fans are growing concerned that they may be subjected to a televised Josh apology tour.

Making matters worse is a new report from In Touch that definitively claims Josh will be appearing in an upcoming episode of his family’s comeback reality series.

“Josh will appear on the next season of his sisters’ series,” a source tells the tabloid.

“The plan is for him to address everything he’s done. What he has to say will be ratings gold, and TLC – and the Duggars – know it.”

Well, we suppose it could be ratings gold.

But it seems just as likely that the move would result in widespread public outrage and perhaps even a boycott of the network.

Already, several corporations have pulled their advertising dollars from TLC after learning their commercials appeared during broadcasts of Counting On. 

To the surprise of no one except the Duggars, the public has, for the most part, proven unwilling and unable to forget that this is the same family that harbored a child molester and helped him avoid punishment for his crimes.

While an episode in which Josh tells his side of the story would likely draw big numbers for the network, the ensuing fallout would be catastrophic.

It seems unlikely that the execs at TLC would be willing to take such a risk.

Then again, many felt that way about allowing the family to return to television at all.

And here we are talking about a second season…

Jinger Duggar & Jeremy Vuolo: Brought Together By Josh Duggar Sex Scandals?!

Last week, we learned that Jinger Duggar is courting Jeremy Vuolo.

As the Duggars gleefully reported to People magazine, Jeremy is a former pro soccer player who’s turned to ministry and missionary work after leaving the North American Soccer League in 2014.

As is their tendency, the Duggars have been very selective about what details of Jinger and Jeremy’s relationship have been made public.

(The original People article conveniently left out the all-important “former qualifier when describing Jeremy as a pro soccer player.)

In a post on his website, Vuolo discusses getting to know Jinger during a missionary trip to Central America:

“It was there that a mutual interest, though unbeknownst to one another, was really confirmed,” he writes.

“On Thursday morning, December 11, 2015, I expressed my interest to get to know Jinger better to Mr. Duggar.

“This opened up the door for Mr. Duggar and me to build a friendship and began this great new chapter of my life with Jinger!”

Though they connected during their time abroad, Jeremy says he had been interested in forming a relationship with Jinger for several months before the trip.

“I remember watching her testimony video that she had made with Ben and thinking, ‘Wow. This girl is amazing."”

He’s referring to this video that she made with Ben Seewald, the husband of Jessa Duggar:

But several websites have pointed out that just before Jeremy expressed his interest to Jim Bob Duggar, another video of Jinger surfaced online.

This one showed Jinger discussing the Josh Duggar sex scandals and the impact they had on her family. 

Perhaps the timing was coincidental – or perhaps not.

Several media outlets have speculated that Jeremy might have been drawn to Jinger’s honesty and eloquence in the clip where she opens up about her older brother’s horrific crimes.

Whatever the case, she was talking courtship not long after the video first appeared online.

We’re not sure where Jinger and Jeremy’s relationship might lead, but it seems very likely that the whole thing had a very dark beginning.

Josh & Anna Duggar: Seeing Marriage Counselor to "Heal" After Sex Scandals

If anyone’s marriage has been put to the test, it’s Josh and Anna Duggar’s.

In the past year, we’ve discovered the dark side of Josh, who admitted to molesting several young children, including his sisters, plus was caught on the Ashley Madison website seeking out extramarital affairs.

And if that wasn’t enough, Josh was also accused of physically and mentally abusing a porn star with whom he paid to have sex.

And if THAT wasn’t enough (I know, right?), all this went down while Anna was pregnant with their fourth child.

While Josh completed a months-long stint in a faith-based rehab for addiction to sex and pornography, that was only one part of recovery for the couple.

Yesterday, Josh and Anna released a statement on the Duggar Family blog, announcing that they were in couples therapy in order to “heal” their relationship.

A section of the post reads:

“Since the residential treatment program ended, we have been working with a professional marriage and family counselor to take important steps toward healing.

“It isn’t easy and some days are very difficult. It is a long road to rebuild trust and a truly healthy relationship.

“We are very thankful for God’s forgiveness, grace and help, as it is our strength and guide to rebuilding our lives.”

They also say they are taking it “one day at a time” and are grateful for fans’ prayers.

While many women would’ve kicked Josh’s buttocks to the curb upon hearing just one of his incredible misdeeds, Anna remains trapped in committed to their marriage because of her faith. 

A rumor surfaced earlier this week that the couple were expecting their fifth child, but we’ve yet to hear a confirmation from the family.

We have heard, though, that Josh is still behaving like an arrogant POS, so let’s hope marriage counseling is more effective than rehab.
