Balls Mahoney, a former ECW star whose real name was Jonathan Rechner, was found dead this week, according to multiple sources.
He was 44 years old.
Few details are available at this time regarding the sad news, although Mahoney reportedly suffered a very bad fall just a few days prior to his death.
He was using a walker as a result and then fell ill, PWInsider.com reports.
The professional wrestler was one of the most beloved stars during his run in Extreme Championship Wrestling. His influence and impact were felt around the industry.
“Just heard of the passing of ECW original Balls Mahoney. Thinking and praying for his little boy he loved so dearly,” Tweeted Mick Foley last night.
The official WWE account also recognize Mahoney’s passing, writing the following on Twitter soon afterward:
