Good news for Taylor Swift:
She now has a fellow Squad member with whom she can drown her sorrow in a pint of ice cream.
Mere days after Swift and Calvin Harris broke up, an insider confirms to E! News that Gigi Hadid and Zayn Malik have also called it quits.
The model and the former One Direction member had been a romantic item for about seven months.
Sort of similar to what happened with Swift and Harris, it doesn’t sound as if one dramatic event was the unraveling of Malik and Hadid, but rather a series of ongoing rough patches.
“During her birthday they were fighting,” a source tells E! of Hadid and Malik, adding that the stars weren’t doing well at the time and have “broken up and got back together a few times.”
Hadid turned 21 years old on April 23.
Another insider also confirms the split, yet says there may be a reconciliation in the near future.
“Zayn and Gigi did break up, but they can likely get back together tomorrow,” this person speculates.
“It’s all very unclear what’s going on between them now. They been having some issues lately that involved communication and getting along.”
In other words: they are two people in their early 20s and they are still figuring both life and each other out.
Sometimes stars really are just like us.
We don’t know at the moment precisely which half of the former couple pulled the plug, but it sounds as if Malik made the decision to end the romance.
“Gigi is really sad about this,” E! writes, concluding:
“In a way, [she] would like to work it out. It’s more about that constant contact with Zayn that she misses and they did get very close.”
Talk of a Hadid and Malik relationship heated up in November after they were spotted getting very cozy at the American Music Awards.
They were all hot and heavy in Malik’s music video for “Pillowtalk” and the artist finally acknowledged that the kissing bled over into real life this past February.
Once the pair went public, as you can see above, they were very open with their PDA. Like, VERY open.
Let’s hope these kids work it out.
