Alaskan Bush People: Fans Claim Ami Brown"s Cancer is Exaggerated for Ratings!

Ever since Ami Brown’s lung cancer diagnosis, viewers and fans have been worried for the matriarch and for the entire family.

Though many aspects of Alaskan Bush People have been accused of being staged, no one had the gall to say that about Ami Brown’s cancer.

Until now. Yikes.

Right now, Alaskan Bush People Season 8 seems to be in limbo.

There’s been no official news of cancelation or renewal, but for a while it was widely reported that the show was set to continue, albeit in Colorado.

The Browns had picked a spot in Colorado, in the wilderness but not too far from a hospital where Ami Brown’s chemotherapy treatments and other care could take place.

But now it looks like filming has been, at best, postponed.

Alaskan Bush People Exposed tells a little more about that.

“There seems to be some problems going on with this season’s filming, and we still are not sure why yet. There is no pre-production, production crew are not moving and so far, the Browns are still in CA.”

We can confirm parts of that — members of the Brown family do seem to be spotted in California a lot these days, but not in Colorado.

That photo of Rain and Gabe and Bird that haters slammed for no reason? That was in Santa Monica.

“Everything seems to be at a standstill at the moment. We will update as soon as we get any further details.”

That could be anything from a slight postponement to season 8 being scrapped before it begins filming.

Many people suspect that the hiatus might be tied to Ami Brown’s illness.

Only so much of her cancer battle makes it onto the camera, and even the most ratings-hungry producers wouldn’t want to be accused of jeopardizing her health by going on with filming.

(Cancer is bad enough, and then chemo can require some serious recovery time between sessions)

Some “fans” of the family and series, and that is using the term loosely, are casting doubt on the severity of Ami Brown’s illness.

For people to call the show “fake” because of accusations that the Brown family sleeps in hotels during filming or has supplies provided by the producers is one thing.

But if you’re going to claim that a woman’s cancer isn’t really that bad, you’d better have some solid arguments to back it up.

First, it’s been pointed out that Ami’s doctor who appeared on the show, Dr. Ann Raldow, isn’t even a lung specialist.

Dr. Raldow specializes in gastrointestinal malignancies.

That’s not the sort of expert that most people would see about lung cancer.

And yet a single person might see many doctors during the course of cancer treatment.

The doctor who is given time on camera for e reality show? That probably has more to do with looks and willingness to appear on TV than with how relevant their specialty is to Ami’s cancer.

And any doctor can walk you through how a facility works.

Some fans expressed confusion (or downright suspicion) because Ami Brown has finished her first round of chemo, and yet still has her hair.

Chemotherapy is generally associated with hair loss.

However, this confusion, just like the situation where Rain Brown is getting hate for taking selfies during her mother’s illness, clearly comes from people who have never watched a loved one battle cancer.

Chemo can cause hair loss.

It can also cause hair to simply thin.

And sometimes, people undergo chemotherapy without any change in their hair density at all.

So, no, Ami Brown retaining her hair is not “suspicious.”

It’s just a good thing, folks.

The same thing with Ami not having lost so much weight that she needs a feeding tube, despite being warned that she might.

Someone doing reasonably well in their cancer battle doesn’t mean that their cancer wasn’t that bad to begin with.

We would like to know more about how Ami is doing these days.

Chemotherapy and cancer make a combination that makes it difficult for most people to enjoy their day-to-day lives.

Even watching television can become exhausting.

We can’t imagine trying to build a house and live off of the land (even if it’s just on camera) while going through all of that.

However Ami is doing, there’s going to be a two-hour Alaskan Bush People special tomorrow, titled: “Forging A New Future.”

Maybe we’ll find out a little more, then.

Beth Chapman: Dog The Bounty Hunter Star Diagnosed With Throat Cancer

Beth Chapman, the wife of Dog the Bounty Hunter, is battling stage two throat cancer.

The star confirmed the news to Radar Online.

“As most of you know I’ve spent a lifetime facing tests and challenges I didn’t see coming and certainly never expected,” Chapman’s statement begins.

“I’ve been dealt my share of unexpected blows over the course of my almost fifty years but nothing as serious as the one I heard from my doctors two weeks ago when they uttered those dreaded three words, ‘You have cancer."”

The reality star has confirmed it is a T2 tumor in her throat and it is affecting her breathing. The big issue plaguing the Dog the Bounty Hunter star is that doctors want surgery to proceed before the disease spreads.

“To be certain, I’ve stared down the devil more than once in my life but I’ve never faced a real life or death decision. My life has never been easy, and I surely don’t expect it to start now,” she wrote.

“Still, I’ve never been a victim and I won’t let cancer beat me. I realize the road I am about to travel will be rocky, full of unexpected twists and turns. But I know one thing for sure. A bend in the road is not the end of the road.”

It’s certainly a good way of looking at things. While some people would break down at the thought of such a harsh disease taking over their body, Beth is not ready to give up and sees this as a mere hurdle along the way.

“I will fight every step of the way. My husband and children are counting on me to be there for years to come,” Beth wrote to her followers. “I am so very grateful to be surrounded by family and friends who have given me incredible support during this very challenging time.”

Beth became a firm favorite with fans of reality TV when she appeared on Dog the Bounty Hunter with her husband, Duane Chapman and their family.

The series was a huge hit, airing from 2004-2012, but that was not the end of their grip on the reality TV world. After leaving A&E behind, they moved over to CMT to headline Dog & Beth: On the Hunt.

That show aired from 2013-2015, and the family has steered clear from the reality TV cameras since, but that’s not to say they are not still very popular.

They still have legions of fans across of the world.

We at THG would like to wish Beth a full and speedy recovery.

Ami Brown: Hospitalized Again During Battle with Cancer

We miss the days when Alaskan Bush People news had to do with finding materials or battling the elements, instead of Ami Brown’s battle with stage four lung cancer.

Despite everything, the Brown family has been forging on and making a new life in Colorado, this time a short distance from a hospital in case things with Ami at home should take a turn for the worse.

Having medical care nearby was a good call, because the latest update on the Brown family says that Ami is back in the hospital.

The Brown family, the stars of Alaskan Bush People — even though they’re now in Colorado — had been grappling with Ami Brown’s tragic cancer diagnosis.

They’ve been dealing with it on camera this season, but the fight for her health and for her life continues off camera, too.

Though Alaskan Bush People fans implored the Brown children to not close Browntown, the family had clearly had enough of roughing it in Alaska.

Honestly, everyone had expected that, between Ami’s cancer diagnosis and how long the series had been running, that the Brown family would just move on and use their reality TV money to live normal lives.

You know, back in civilization.

(Of course, some Alaskan Bush People fans claim that the show is fake because the Brown family has supplies that aren’t foraged, but … no matter what your stance on that might be, the Brown kids weren’t living normal lives)

But the show has still been running strong, and a while back it was reported that they were going ahead with yet another season.

We just hope that Ami Brown can hold on and get more time with her family.

But, as you know, she’s returned to the hospital.

The Facebook page known as Alaskan Bush People: Exposed has kept the world abreast of knowledge of the Brown family that doesn’t quite make it on camera.

They posed this oddly cheerful update:

“Just a quick update Ami is in the hospital and still being treated with chemotherapy. We will update as soon as any more details become available. Have a great weekend!”

This doesn’t sound like it was an emergency treatment, so it’s better than Ami having been rushed to the emergency room.

(Which sometimes happens with cancer patients)

Alaskan Bush People: Exposed haven’t provided any other updates or clarification, but we hope that this is just another scheduled round of chemo to help give Ami more time with her husband and her children.

In the mean time, Ami Brown’s young daughter, Rain, has gotten blasted on social media for posting selfies on Instagram while her mother has cancer.

This kind of criticism is absurd, but sadly not uncommon — people who’ve never had a loved one get a cancer diagnosis often don’t realize that life goes on, no matter the circumstances.

Rain Brown posting flower crown selfies to Instagram and enjoying her life is exactly what Ami Brown wants for her daughter to experience.

We’ve seen this with other celebrity kids whose parents are sick.

We’ve even seen this kind of thing with the Brown family.

Some fans have slammed Noah Brown for “abandoning” his family when really he’s just living his life and going places with his fiancee, as if visiting a zoo and loving his mother are mutually exclusive.

Fans who expect every Brown family social media post to be some sort of weeping, black-and-white tribute to Ami Brown don’t understand family, or grief, or life.

We’re all rooting for the Brown family matriarch to pull through.

Fans just wished Ami Brown happy birthday last week, and they aren’t prepared to see her go.

Neither, we’re sure, is Ami’s large if unconventional family.

We don’t know what will become of the family or the series if Ami loses her battle, and it’s hard to imagine the entire Brown family going on as before without Ami.

For now, though, she’s getting these chemo treatments to fight tooth-and-nail for her life. That’s all that anyone can do.

Bethenny Frankel: Does She Have Cancer?!

Bethenny Frankel is devoting pretty much all of her time this week to relief efforts for Houston and other areas devastated by Hurricane Harvey. She’s certainly not the only celebrity helping with the relief effort.

We say “pretty much” all of her time, because Bethenny Frankel has also experienced what sounds like a major health scare.

One serious enough that she’s reportedly undergoing screening … for cancer.

The polarizing star of The Real Housewives of New York City has never held back an opinion, ever, in her life, and she’s taking her usual lack of chill and putting it towards a great cause: desperately needed hurricane relief.

She’s raised at least $ 500,000 for those impacted in Corpus Christi and she’s making sure that much-needed resources, including clothing, go directly to women and their families in those areas hit hardest by the massively destructive storm.

In the process, Bethenny showed her face, where you can clearly see that roughly circular bandage on one of her cheeks.

It’s not subtle, folks.

Among the comments (most thanking her for devoting her time and resources to such a good cause), some fans and followers expressed curiosity or concern over Bethenny’s bandage.

And Bethenny answered.

Bethenny explained in the comments that she had “had a growth removed.”

That was instantly alarming to some people.

One followers, however, asked if the growth was a reaction to face-fillers.

“No. [Basal] cell. I don’t do fillers.”

She had accidentally written “basil,” which sounds more delicious but less worrisome.

Then, in classic Bethanny Frankel fashion, she makes sure that people don’t think that she’s being defensive or vain.

“My jaw is the size of Pittsburgh. Nothing needs enhancement.”

Basal cell carcinoma, of course, is the most common form of skin cancer.

Did you know that as many as four million cases of basal cell carcinoma are diagnosed each year, just in the US?

That’s more than 1% of the population.

Every year.

Pay attention to your moles and don’t neglect your sunscreen, folks.

Us Weekly reports that Bethenny Frankel is now being screened for cancer.

We assume that this means that Bethenny’s growth, that has now been removed, has been sent to a pathology lab for analysis.

We also assume that she might undergo a battery of other tests to determine whether or not she might have skin cancer elsewhere or even another form of cancer.

Cancer is weird, dangerous, and deadly, folks. You can never bee too careful.

Bethenny Frankel, though, has the resources to cover medical care and also the exact sort of fighting spirit that can give people an edge if they do have a cancer diagnosis.

She didn’t wage this battle against Jason Hoppy for years only to fall to cancer just as she reaches the light at the end of the proverbial tunnel.

And it sounds like they caught this basal cell growth on her face really early. Hopefully, these tests will all come back negative and Bethenny will be able to rest easy.

Or, at least, do the Bethenny Frankel equivalent of resting easy. She’s a little intense, and that’s just the way that we like her.

Ami Brown Birthday Tributes Pour Forth Amidst Cancer Battle

Ami Brown is so far from alone.

The Alaskan Bush People star is battling stage four lung cancer and the prognosis from doctors is grave.

But the mother of seven can at least take comfort in knowing she’s surrounded by friends, family members, loved ones… and an endless array of fans.

brown bday

With the Discovery Channel personality celebrating a birthday this week, supporters from all corners of the Internet have come together to send Ami their very best wishes.

“Happy birthday to the matriarch of the Brown family and the glue that holds them together!” reads the caption to the Facebook photo above.

It has been Liked over 28,000 times.

Wrote another user of the World Wide Web:

“Happy birthday Ami, a beautiful woman inside and out. We pray you have a very blessed day surrounded by your loved ones.

“Sending our love and prayers! Continue to look up, that’s where our hope comes from.”

Brown recently spoke to People Magazine about her illness, telling the publication that “everything hurts” and adding:

“I realized early into this that it’s very easy to want to give up and just die. And on the pessimist side, it could be my last days.

“But I have the will to fight.”

It’s this brave and strong attitude that has endeared Brown to so many viewers over the years.

“Happy Birthday Ami, Praying fo you to have GREAT results from your treatments,” wrote another followers, adding that she can relate to Ami’s pain:

“I am a two time cancer survivor and wish you ALL the Best, LOVE You and your Family and show.”

And one more fan note:

“If prayers alone would heal cancer, you would be healed.

“You are a wonderful Mother, Wife and Role Model. You have raised a fine and loving family. You are a strong woman and have blessed our lives just by your inspiration.

“GOD Bless you and your family always.”

Billy Brown also spoke to People this month about the state of his wife, saying he almost never leaves her side and marveling over the courage his wife has displayed.

“She’s the strongest person I know, so if she’s saying it hurts, it really hurts. She tries to hide it from everybody but four or five times a day she bends over like a baby and cries.

“She bends over and tears run down. She put out seven babies without a grunt. I’ve always had a lot of respect for Ami, but I’ve got a lot more now.

“She makes me feel like a wuss.”

Based on her type of cancer, Brown has only been given a long-term survival rate of three percent.

As we said above, the outlook is grim.

However, as long as Ami is alive and fighting, we’ll maintain hope.

We join these fans in sending birthday wishes to the reality star and we hope we can do the same next year at this time.

Hang in there, Ami.

Tamra Judge Reveals Skin Cancer Diagnosis

Tamra Judge has been diagnosed with skin cancer.

The Real Housewives of Orange County star made this unfortunate admission via an Instagram post and photo on Sunday afternoon.

Sharing a selfie that depicted her in Daisy Dukes, the Bravo star – who turns 50 years old on September 2 – gave followers a look at a small mole on the side of her rear end.

“I work out hard for this Booty,” Judge wrote as a caption, adding in further detail:

“I was planning on competing again in November at 50 years old, but I’m not sure that’s happening now. it looks like God has a different plan for me.”

The reality star had been in the news this month because her daughter, Sidney, has torn her apart pretty hard in public.

Saying their relationship was “toxic,” the recent high school graduate wrote on Facebook that she lived with her mother after their parents divorced, but…

“The reasons I left my mothers house are that she was neglectful (leaving us at home with no food or simply ignoring us entirely), she constantly put herself first and the biggest reason was that she was mentally and emotionally abusive.”

Yikes.

In response to this allegation, the veteran TV personality said:

I love my daughter and I would NEVER abuse, hurt or neglect her in any way.”

It will be interesting to see whether Tamra’s cancer diagnosis mends the powerful wound that clearly exists between mother and daughter.

“Im showing you this picture because this is what melanoma looks like,” the fitness competitor added on Instagram over the weekend.

“I don’t want sympathy, I want you to save YOUR ass and get your skin checked. This was just a small black flat freckle….

“I had no idea! Ill be fine because my faith is strong and my Ass ain’t bad either.”

No type of cancer is harmless.

But, if picked up early by doctors, skin cancer is typically curable.

“Going to be honest I’ve been a little sad, worried and pissed off,” Judge concluded.

“But we caught it early and that makes me happy. Happy birthday to me. #saveyourass birthday party in Cabo not sounding like a good idea now.”

The reality star renewed her wedding vows with husband Eddie at the Ritz-Carlton in Aruba on August 9.

While her relationship with Sidney is a mess, her marriage is going very well.

“Celebrating love with all the hate that’s going on,” Judge wrote at the time of the renweal.

“May God bless your life because it’s not always easy. But God has a plan.. a big plan. I wanna say thank you to @shannonbeador @oclydia @rhoc_kellyddodd (you know what you did and you all rock) #arubaido.”

Billy Brown Opens Up About Wife"s Cancer: "It’s Bad News"

She’s the one holding me up.

So Billy Brown tells People Magazine about his wife in the Alaskan Bush People star’s first major interview since Ami Brown was diagnosed late last year with lung cancer.

The diagnosis and Brown’s subsequent treatment has been the main storyline on Season 7 of this Discovery channel series, which has focused on the family leaving Alaska for California.

Ami has been receiving treatment there, while her spouse and husband are expected to settle in Colorado later this year.

After Ami spoke to People about remaining strong in the face of this awful disease, Billy sat down and did the same.

We can’t imagine what he and his seven children are going through and we’ll continue to keep them in our thoughts.

Scroll down, meanwhile, for excerpts from Brown’s Q&A with the aforementioned publication…

On watching his wife suffer: “She’s the strongest person I know, so if she’s saying it hurts, it really hurts. She tries to hide it from everybody but four or five times a day she bends over like a baby and cries.

“She bends over and tears run down.

She put out seven babies without a grunt. I’ve always had a lot of respect for Ami, but I’ve got a lot more now. She makes me feel like a wuss.”

How bad is the cancer? “At least [stage] 3B… We know if it’s in the brain, it’s over. And if it’s in the stomach, that’s bad but this cancer can be right where it is and go anywhere.

“It can go to the brain. It hasn’t traveled to any other organs, but that’s what they’re saying is next. Any time we talk to anybody, it’s bad news.”

The Browns rose to fame due to their remote style of living in Alaska.

But they’ve left their beloved “Browntown” behind.

Ami learned of her cancer in December and lost a significant amount of weight in the months since.

The family was therefore forced to relocate in order to find her the best care.

What was it like to leave Alaska behind? “It wasn’t like it came out of nowhere. We’ve always told the kids they don’t have to follow our lives. We moved out there because we wanted to.

“They just came along and we have been so proud that they wanted to stay with us as long as they did out there but it was time. We had to make this move to do what’s best for Ami.”

Will he miss the freedom of living way out in Alaska? “Freedom is having a family so strong and so with you that you can get through anything. Freedom is being with your family. I can’t lose that. I can’t live without her. I can’t lose her.

“I just pray every day that we’ll get good news.”

How are the kids handling everything? “Some of them don’t want to admit that she’s so bad. They’re all trying to get through it as best they can but no one knows what to do. I do what I can.

“This is really hard but this is also the strongest our faith has ever been. Our faith is giving us hope.”

The two-hour season finale of Alaskan Bush People airs next Wednesday at 9/8c on Discovery.

Fans expect the network to announce Season 8, although some take major issue with the changes that may be on hand for it.

We don’t much care about those at the moment.

We just hope for the very best for Ami and her loved ones.

Ami Brown Speaks on Battle with Cancer: "Everything Hurts"

For the past several weeks, Alaskan Bush People viewers have been concerned and curious about the status of Ami Brown.

We know she has lung cancer.

But is it Stage 4? Is the tumor inoperable? Is she confined to a wheelchair? Just how much time does she have left?

Lying in a hospital bed in Southern California, where she was transported this summer in order to receive the best care possible, Brown recently opened up to People Magazine after her illness.

It’s clear she’s in very poor shape.

“It hurts. Everything hurts,” Brown tells the publication.

The long-time reality star’s throat is raw from the radiation, and she’s dropped from 128 pounds to 89.4 pounds.

Based on the aggressiveness of the cancer, Billy Brown says doctors have told the family that survival statistics for someone in Brown’s situation are as low as three percent.

But Ami remains as optimistic as one can be given her circumstances.

“I realized early into this that it’s very easy to want to give up and just die. And on the pessimist side, it could be my last days,” she says. “But I have the will to fight.”

Ami’s health struggles have been at the center of Alaskan Bush People Season 7, which wraps up this week on the Discovery Channel.

It sounds as if an eighth season is on tap, but the Browns will not be residing in Browntown if/when it airs.

In this exclusive Q&A with People, Brown says she first felt pain in her back last fall. She thought it was just arthritis… until a scan was taken in December.

As you can tell by some of her quotes here, Ami is handling the diagnosis in courageous fashion. Her kids, however?

“They have to strengthen their wings a little,” she says to People, adding:

“There are good days and bad days – for them and for me. But they handle their emotions pretty good. There are days that they have to talk about it and then talk about it again.

“I have faith that they will remain strong.”

Brown says she wanted to do the People interview in order to help others with cancer.

“I was nervous as a cat the first time I went in for radiation. I hope if people watch the show and see what I’m going through and it will take away a lot of their fear.”

What an admirable reason for speaking out.

Does she ever think about dying? Does she ever concern herself with what happens next?

How can she not, right? On occasion, at least, right?

This is what Ami says about the prospect of passing away:

Worrying about it only makes it worse. There is hope and that hope is having faith in God. You can’t give up. I tell people be happy. Just be happy. It’s a choice.

Things can be hard and you just want to curl up but you have to shine.

We continue to send our thoughts and prayers to Ami Brown and her family.

Ami Brown Cancer Update: We Hate to Bring Bad News, But ...

We have another update on Alaskan Bush People star Ami Brown.

Specifically, regarding her cancer diagnosis that was confirmed on Alaskan Bush People.

Honestly, we wish that, for once, we could bring you some good news.

Alaskan Bush People follows the Brown Family, headed by Billy Brown and Ami Brown.

They have seven children. Seven!

Their youngest, Rain, is a teenager — she turns fifteen this November.

Their oldest, Matt, was born in 1982.

The series began with the lawful destruction of the Brown’s house, which had been erected on land that they did not own.

For the past seven seasons, viewers have followed the Browns as they make habitats for themselves in, well, the Alaskan bush.

In the woods, basically.

A major storyline on this seventh and final season has been Ami Roloff’s cancer diagnosis.

Cancer can of course strike at anyone.

But we wouldn’t recommend living in the wilderness, folks.

We know that carcinogens can be scary, but not all cancer comes from pesticides or cheap hotdogs or whatever you fear might cause it.

There are a lot of inborn biological factors, as a lot of cancers happen naturally thanks to some tragic genetic predispositions.

Consider that whatever a person may gain from avoiding car exhaust or what have you, they very likely lose from not having consistent and frequent access to healthcare.

And, of course, regular cancer screenings.

That can’t catch everything, and lung cancer can be tricky, but we think of how hard Ami Brown’s lifestyle has been on her body over these past decades and wonder if her current predicament could have been avoided.

In our last Alaskan Bush People update, we told you that Ami Brown has been confined to a wheelchair.

Naturally, like all reality shows, Alaskan Bush People films well ahead of when episodes air.

On the show, Ami Brown is undergoing treatment for her lung cancer.

Unfortunately, cancer progresses off-camera.

A Facebook group called “Alaskan Bush People Exposed” reports about goings-on with the Brown family that don’t make it on camera.

After the discovery that Ami Brown has been confined to a wheelchair, a flurry of comments expressed concern over how much worse her diagnosis has become.

Remember when we told you that her cancer was at least stage three but might be stage four?

An admin for that Facebook group confirmed it:

“Now it’s stage 4 in both lungs and inoperable.”

If what the admin says is accurate, that is dreadful news.

Stage 4 cancer is … well, that’s death’s door.

We don’t pretend to understand why Ami Brown or her husband took up this lifestyle.

There is not and cannot be a moral justification for raising your children outside of society without the benefits of millennia of civilization to aid and guide them.

But let’s be clear — Ami Brown does not deserve to have cancer.

She does not deserve to die.

Our reservations about the Brown family and the way that fans romanticize their lifestyle are one thing.

(Some even had the audacity to urge the Brown children to not close Browntown, which no one has the right to ask of them)

But it is absolutely a tragedy that Ami Brown seems to be at death’s door.

We’ll continue to watch this heartbreaking medical drama unfold both on and off camera.

At stage 4, though … well, if you’ve ever lost a loved one to cancer, you know how very abruptly things can change.

Reportedly, the entire Brown family moved down to “Lower 48” (as in, the Continental US, not in Alaska and not in Hawaii) after season seven stopped filming.

Part of that was probably that they’d made enough money and endured enough hardship and earned the right to retire from Browntown and all that being a bush person entails.

Part of that, though, had to be the knowledge that things could never be the same after Ami’s diagnosis.

We would love to see Ami Brown pull through and beat the odds, though.
