Meghan King Edmonds Covers Latina Magazine, Hears It From Critics

Meghan King Edmonds stars on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.

And we say this with no disrespect nor any judgment of any kind, really, but…

… it may very well be the whitest show on television.

Each week, this Bravo series just pits one spoiled rich white woman against each other, as one First World Problem after another is discussed and dissected in nauseating detail.

Doesn’t mean the program isn’t entertaining.

It’s just… very white.

This likely explains the outcry by some on the Internet in response to Edmonds being featured on the latest cover of Latina Magazine.

The reality star, who is pregnant with her second child, at least seems to recognize that she isn’t the typical main subject of this particular publication.

First, she shared the following image on Instagram:

Then, she included the following caption along with it.

“I’m so proud and honored to be on the cover of @latinamagazine1 and represent @glamarella_jewelry!” wrote the cable network personality, adding:

“I loved doing this shoot right after I found out I was pregnant! No, I’m not Latina but I was asked to be on the cover and talk about my life and #RHOC in the cover story so I guess I’m blessed to be an honorary Latina this month!

“(By the way, big shout out to my husband for my engagement ring that got a front and center shot!)”

Ah yes, an “honorary Latina.”

It’s safe to say this cover shoot and this phrase didn’t sit well with readers of the magazine.

“Dressed up the nice white lady to look like a Latina for Latina magazine because?” wrote one dissatisfied Internet user.

“This is the same as black facing only for Latinas now! What a fail.”

Not exactly, of course. It would maybe the same if Edmonds’ skin was darkened or she was wearing a sombrero or something.

But general point still taken.

Other critics laid into Latina for putting “white privilege” on display, while another person chimed in with:

“This is beyond disappointing and such a slap in the face to the ENTIRE community. Shame on you!”

This magazine does consistently feature prominent Latinas such as Demi Lovato, Jennifer Lopez, Paulina Rubio, Jessica Alba, Shakira, Eva Longoria, Salma Hayek, Eva Mendes, Christina Aguilera, Naya Rivera, America Ferrera and even Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor.

The November 2015 issue featured girl group Fifth Harmony, whose three out of five members are Latinas, marking the first time two non-Latinas were featured on the cover of the magazine.

So this was a trend that started a couple years ago.

What do you think of this supposed scandal?

Do the haters have a point?

Or should everyone be okay with Latina diversifying its cover subjects a bit?

Edmonds and her co-stars – including Vicki Gunvalson, Kelly Dodd, Tamra Judge, Shannon Beador, Lydia McLaughlin, and Peggy Sulahian – will return for Season 13 some time next year.

Will you be tuning in?

Mayim Bialik Lashes Out at "Vicious" Critics, Totally Doesn"t Get It

Mayim Bialik is not apologizing for her controversial stance regarding rape and feminism.

Over the weekend, Bialik wrote an op-ed in response to accusations of sexual assault against movie producer Harvey Weinstein.

The Big Bang Theory actress was not a victim of Weinstein’s. It doesn’t sound as though she knows anyone who has claimed to be.

So why did she choose to speak out about this topic?

Because Bialik thought she had helpful advice to offer fellow members of her gender.

“As a proud feminist with little desire to diet, get plastic surgery or hire a personal trainer, I have almost no personal experience with men asking me to meetings in their hotel rooms,” Bialik wrote, instantly stepping into scalding hot water.

Right off the bat here, she’s saying that Weinstein only preyed on attractive women.

Moreover, she’s blaming the attractive women for… well… being attractive.

She’s completely missing the point that sexual harassment is all about some insecure jerk such as Weinstein exerting his power, not simply wanting to tap some fine piece of you-know-what.

“Those of us in Hollywood who don’t represent an impossible standard of beauty have the ‘luxury’ of being overlooked and, in many cases, ignored by men in power unless we can make them money,” Bialik continued.

Over the past week or so, approximately 43 women have come forward and accused Weinstein of sexual misconduct.

Some, such as Rose McGowan, have accused him or rape.

The fact that anyone would dare to lecture these women, or any victims of assault, is horribly offensive.

But that never occurred to Bialik, apparently.

“If you are beautiful and sexy, terrific. But having others celebrate your physical beauty is not the way to lead a meaningful life,” she wrote.

“And if – like me – you’re not a perfect 10, know that there are people out there who will find you stunning, irresistible and worthy of attention, respect and love.

“The best part is you don’t have to go to a hotel room or a casting couch to find them.”

In response to this terribly pompous and totally misguided editorial, critics lambasted Bialik for blaming the victims of rape in any way, shape or form.

Gabrielle Union, for example, Tweeted that “Sexual or physical violence, harassment, demeaning language is NOT the price one should pay for seeking or maintaining employment. Period.”

She then shared her personal story:

Care to respond, Mayim Bialik?

Actually, the actress has responded.

Not to Union, specifically, but to her critics.

“I’m being told my N.Y. Times piece resonated with so many and I am beyond grateful for all of the feedback,” she wrote on Twitter, adding:

“I also see a bunch of people have taken my words out of the context of the Hollywood machine and twisted them to imply that God forbid I would blame a woman for her assault based on her clothing or behavior.

“Anyone who knows me and my feminism knows that’s absurd and not at all what this piece was about.

“It’s so sad how vicious people are being when I basically live to make things better for women.”

The actress announced that she would hold a Facebook Live discussion with the newspaper on Monday to clear the air.

But we have a question, considering that Bialik wrote the following in her piece:

I am entirely aware that these types of choices might feel oppressive to many young feminists.

Women should be able to wear whatever they want. They should be able to flirt however they want with whomever they want. Why are we the ones who have to police our behavior?

In a perfect world, women should be free to act however they want.

But our world isn’t perfect.

Nothing—absolutely nothing—excuses men for assaulting or abusing women. But we can’t be naïve about the culture we live in.

How, exactly, are we taking anything out of context to interpret this as placing blame on sexual assault victims for how they dress and act?

Megyn Kelly Wraps Up Awful Week With Awkward Jab at Critics

Well, it’s Friday, and no doubt many of our readers are wrapping up tough weeks at work.

But folks, rest assured that no matter how many presentations you botched or flasks you were caught sipping from during important meetings (Susan in accounting is so damn judgemental!), you almost certainly didn’t have as terrible a week as Megyn Kelly.

It’s hard to overstate just how hard Megyn bombed in her first week hosting the second hour of Today.

It’s looking more and more like Kelly’s move to NBC will be remembered as the media equivalent of Crystal Pepsi – a costly corporate misstep that left the masses shaking their heads in disbelief that the big guys at the top could be so clueless.

But before we get to the awkward interviews, the savage Twitter roastings, and the on-camera cursing, let’s briefly recap how Megyn went from Fox News firebrand to perma-grinning Savannah Guthrie impersonator.

Kelly signed on with NBC back in January amidst continued shakeups and scandals at Fox.

Many wondered how the politically-neutral-ish network would use Kelly, who made a name for herself as a mouthpiece for the far-right.

And now it looks as though execs were equally unsure of where the 46-year-old would fit into their lineup.

She started out with a 60 Minutes-style Sunday night newsmagazine, and while Kelly’s ratings were decent, her interviews with Alex Jones and Vladimir Putin drew widespread condemnation from her media colleagues.

Sunday Night With Megyn Kelly is currently on hiatus, and its future is uncertain.

But that’s fine, because Kelly is totally done with politics, anyway!

Or at least that’s what she told her audience during her opening segment on Today Monday morning.

Unfortunately for Megyn, it seems she was a much better fit in the political arena than in the world of weekday morning perk-peddling.

The blunders started early and happened often.

First, Megyn asked a Will & Grace fan if watching the show “made [him] gay.”

(Series star Debra Messing later denounced Kelly’s comments.)

One day later, she got roasted by Jane Fonda for questioning the revered actress about plastic surgery in front of a live audience.

“Given the fact that we don’t have a lot of time and [Robert Redford] is right here, it’s a weird thing to bring up – whether I’ve had plastic surgery or not,” Fonda said after the interview.

“I have and I’ve talked about it. Seemed like the wrong time and place to ask that question,” the actress concluded.

The slip-ups and awkward moments were so plentiful that a cameraman saying “sh-t” live on the air barely attracted any media attention.

Kelly may have cut ties with the political world, but she’s brought the living nightmare/trainwreck vibe of Washington in 2017 to morning television.

She’s basically delivering the Trump administration of morning talk shows.

This morning, Kelly attempted to make amends and essentially ask for a re-do with a closing monologue that’s already being torn apart on social media:

“I just want to take a moment to thank all of you so much for watching this week. It’s been very exciting. It has been educational. I’ve just been so delighted that the media response, which has really — no,” she told her audienc in an attempt at humor.

“But the viewer response has been awesome, and I am so grateful to have all of you giving us a chance.”

For the record, the audience response had not been “awesome,” at least not according to the ratings, which have been in steady decline since Monday.

It may be time for both Kelly and NBC to cut their losses.

Tamra Judge Rips Critics, Abuse Claims: I Would NEVER Hurt Sidney!

The Real Housewives of Orange County star Tamra Judge has been absolutely relishing her vow renewal to husband Eddie this month.

That said, she has plenty of other things on her mind.

Denying accusations lobbed at her by estranged daughter Sidney, Judge offered more than just an update on her romantic trip to Aruba.

Tamra, 49, made her first statements directly referencing the bombshell abuse claims made by her 18-year-old, long estranged child.

“So many wonderful memories made. Although bittersweet,” Judge wrote on Instagram and Twitter, along with a broken heart emoji.

“I want to say thank you to everyone that has reached out to see if I’m okay,” Tamra responded to her daughter‘s post, pointedly adding:

“I/We are trying our best to enjoy our vacation. Thank you to my Mom who is not taking this very well and feels the need to defend me.”

“I love you Mom. I love my daughter and I would NEVER abuse, hurt or neglect her in any way,” the Bravo reality TV mainstay continued.

This past Monday, Sidney Barney went off on Judge as “no mother” to her, explaining the reasons for their ongoing rift in blunt terms.

“The reasons I left my mothers house are that she was neglectful (leaving us at home with no food or simply ignoring us entirely),” she said.

“She constantly put herself first and the biggest reason was that she was mentally and emotionally abusive,” Sidney shared.

Many who watch The Real Housewives of Orange County online and haven’t seen Sidney in years have wondered why this is.

Many more who follow Tamra’s life off screen are inclined to believe the teenager, though Judge takes issue with her claims.

To her credit, after defending herself, she pleaded to fans not to harass her daughter and to “direct [comments] at me if you need to.”

In her latest post, Judge attempted to protect Sidney by requesting that her fans “do not send Sidney negative messages or comments.”

The mother of four did clap back at Gretchen Rossi, whom she called a “thirsty wannabe” after the RHOC alum echoed Sidney’s criticisms.

To put it mildly, Tamra did not hold back.

“I usually don’t give this troll any attention because it’s exactly what she wants,” Judge said, before absolutely unloading on her rival.

“After years of her bashing me and now reaching out to my daughter I must say. Gretchen you are the biggest piece of s–t I’ve ever met.”

“Move on with your sad empty childless life and stay out of mine you thirsty wannabe. You have NO IDEA What my family is going through.”

Tamra’s divorce from Simon Barney was as ugly as it gets, and her relationship with Sidney has clearly become a sad casualty of this.

That doesn’t mean she isn’t at fault – or that her comments are appropriate – but it’s a more complex situation than many fans realize.

Not that she’s putting it in those terms when Gretchen inserts herself into the situation and Tamra feels she has to hit back doubly hard.

Judge absolutely burned Rossi:

“It’s just an opportunity for you to get your name in the press. #obsessedfreak. Funny you of all people should be talking about morals.”

“You have none!”

Wow.

Jenelle Evans Celebrates Son"s Birthday, Gets Roasted By Critics

Jenelle Evans is unlikely to be nominated for any mother of the year awards anytime soon.

In fact, Jenelle still doesn’t have custody of her eldest son, Jace, who’s primarily under the care of her controversial mother, Barbara Evans.

When a court decides that Babs is better able to provide a stable household than you are, it’s clear you’ve got a lot of room to improve on your parenting.

But that doesn’t mean Jenelle isn’t trying.

Over the weekend, the Carolina Hurricane celebrated Jace’s eighth birthday with what looked to be a small party at home.

She documented the occasion on Instagram with a handful of heartwarming pics.

Obviously, Jenelle’s parenting skills (or relative lack thereof) have been a frequent topic of discussion for Teen Mom 2 fans over the years, but for once, there were relatively few negative comments.

If you follow Jenelle on social media, you know how rare that is.

And fortunately, those who felt the need to offer criticism focused it on Jenelle, and not Jace.

Many observed that it’s a bit strange that Jace blew out the candles on a fishing cake, as neither he nor his mother showed much interest in outdoorsy activities until recently, when David Eason convinced them to get outside more.

“Lol the fishing cake for all the fishing Jace has done and enjoyed since you found your latest soul mate and morphed into him! Great!” wrote one follower.

“That poor kid…. all that he’s been through He’s going to be in therapy for most of his adult life,” wrote another.

As fans of the show know, Evans and Eason are engaged and may be planning to get hitched as early as this fall.

That means, of course, that David and his family now find themselves in he crosshairs of Jenelle’s many critics.

As part of the weekend celebrations, Jenelle took the family on a night out, and some of her followers were critical of the clothing worn by Maryssa, Eason’s daughter from a previous relationship.

“Why is she dressed in granny like clothes? C’mon that poor child! And she always looks depressed!” wrote one Instagram user.

“Who dressed Maryssa? Booties in August? No wonder the child looks like she just lost her best friend,” commented another.

“I can see you dressing her like that out of pure spite and forcing her to wear it. The booties and the pink cardigan dont match that dress whatsoever!”

It seems there’s not much Jenelle can do these days that won’t earn her a good roasting from her detractors.

But in fairness, she does have an awful lot to make up for.

Watch Teen Mom 2 online to relive Jenelle’s many parenting ups and downs.

Paola Mayfield to Critics: STFU, Will Ya?!?

When it comes to revealing her body online, Paola Mayfield has said she remains open to sharing racy photos.

When it comes to critics of her marriage, however, the 90 Day Fiance star says she would like these people to close their misguided mouths.

Right this very moment, please!

Viewers of the aforementioned TLC reality show have had their questionable eyes on Mayfield and husband Russ for awhile now.

They’ve mostly clashed over Russ’ conservative upbringing and how it contrasts significantly with Mayfield’s burgeoning fitness career, which she says necessitates that she show off her figure on social media.

The two do not seem like an ideal match.

But they’re still married.

And Paola would prefer if you butt out of their lives, thank you very much.

“People needs to stop comparing their life/marriage with mine,” Mayfield wrote on Instagram yesterday, adding:

“You are You! My marriage, my life, my decisions! Stop telling me how to live my marriage and my life. 4 YEARS together and we are doing really good.”

After becoming rising to Z-List stardom on 90 Day Fiance, Paola and Russ have continued to let cameras chronicle their universe on 90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After?.

So it’s a tad bit hypocritical to call out critics when Mayfield and her husband are the ones choosing to open up their lives to the public.

Mayfield at least acknowledged this to some extent in her viral rant.

“Ups and downs ARE NORMAL in every single relationship! It’s funny how people talk like they’ve never fight or they have the perfect marriage.

“When someone ask you for your advice give it but if not well you know what to do! Yes I’m public figure bla bla bla go and yelled at the TV if you are frustrated but don’t come to MY ACCOUNT to tell me how to live my life.”

Concludes the outspoken TLC star:

By the way I will be blocking everyone that comes here with negativity.

I will rather have quality that quantity. One last thing move on about my friend Juan, if my husband and I did it why you can’t move on??

Our life, our mistakes, our choices!

Mayfield ended her post by including the hashtags “#90dayfiance,” “#washingtondc” and, most hilariously of all, “#abrahamlincoln.”

We wonder what that iconic President would think of 90 Day Fiance…

Lena Dunham Claps Back at Critics, Joins American Horror Story

Lena Dunham has taken a break from abandoning her dog in order to fire back at a handful of haters.

Without specifically referencing what she was responding to Dunham shared the following photo on Instagram last night…

… and wrote the following as a caption:

It’s only important to me that people know as they’re busy tweeting bullshit about me I’m most often dressed in a latex suit and crystal crown working from home on imagining new worlds.

Dunham concluded her message with the hashtag “blessedbitch.”

This is an interesting way to tell off critics.

The Girls creator is basically saying that you can yell and scream and insult her all you want on social media, but she’s just gonna go about her successful and creative life as you waste your time doing so.

The actress often comes under fire from those who don’t like her liberal viewpoint on life.

Or from those who don’t like how often she takes off her clothes.

But Dunham always tries to have the final laugh in these situations.

Last month, for example, Dunham posed naked to flaunt her weight loss, just a short while after explaining why she can never win when it comes to the Internet.

“It’s just so crazy because I spent six years of my career being called things like ‘bag of milk,’ ‘baby cow,’ ‘aging cow.’ I just never felt self-conscious about it,” Dunham told Ellen DeGeneres, adding:

“I was like, ‘Anyone who is going to take the time to say something negative about my weight on the internet isn’t someone I was particularly keen to impress anyway.’

“Then I had this experience of my body changing.

“Suddenly I got all these people saying, ‘You’re a hypocrite. I thought you were body positive. I thought you were a person who embraced body types of all sizes."”

In other words: when she’s overweight, she hears about it. And when she loses weight, she hears about it.

What’s a celebrity to do?

Change the conversation, perhaps.

In a surprising piece of casting news, Ryan Murphy confirmed on Wednesday that Dunham will join American Horror Story Season 7.

We don’t know what role she’ll take on just yet, but this will mark Dunham’s first season as a member of the drama, which typically features the same actors and actresses playing different characters every year.

Season 7 is expected to center on the 2016 Presidential Election in some capacity.

lena murphy

We hear she’ll only appear on one American Horror Story episode, but whatever. That’s better than zero!

The Season 7 cast already boasts returning favorites Sarah Paulson and Evan Peters, plus newcomers Billy Eichner (Difficult People), Billie Lourd (Scream Queens), Laura Allen (Awake), Leslie Grossman (Popular) and Colton Haynes (Teen Wolf).

We can’t wait.

In addition to writing Girls and starring in that HBO comedy, Dunham has guest-starred on Scandal and The Simpsons in recent years.

Kim Kardashian to Critics: SEE! I"m Totally Happy with Kanye!

Kim Kardashian has sent both a message to Kanye West and a message to the couple’s critics as well.

She’s killed two birds with one stone.

Or addressed two issues with one Instagram entry, one might say instead.

To celebrate Kanye’s 40th birthday, the reality star and the rapper jetted off to the Bahamas last week, enjoying a lot of tequila and seemingly having a blast.

Insiders said it was such a nice vacation that Kim and Kanye never even wanted to return home.

Today, meanwhile, marks West’s actual milestone birthday, as he came into the world on June 8, 1977.

In honor of the occasion and in honor of her husband, Kardashian shared the photo above of her and her man, along with the following caption:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BABE! I KNOW YOU’RE NOT ON SOCIAL MEDIA ANYMORE, SO YOU’RE NOT GONNA SEE IT ANYWAY — AND I’M GOING TO BE WITH YOU TO TELL YOU! BUT IF I DON’T POST IT, THEN ALL THE STORIES WILL START SO…

I LOVE YOU SO MUCH! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

That’s pretty well played, actually.

For several weeks, mostly toward the end of 2016 and the beginning of 2017, divorce rumors swirled around Kimye.

The report cited Kim getting robbed at gunpoint in Paris and West having a mental breakdown just a month or so later and how these events traumatized both parties.

They were both dealing with the kinds of personal issues that no one else could really relate to.

As a result, distance formed. Communication lessened. There was a period of time in January where we really did think a divorce was imminent.

Heck, as recently as March, headlines such as THIS ONE were all over the Internet.

Sources told In Touch Weekly this spring that not only were Kim and Kanye dealing with their own sh-t, but West was also pissed over the way Kardashian exploited her robbery on her reality show.

Which is true. A great deal of Season 13 was dedicated to Kim dealing with the aftermath of this awful event.

“Kim didn’t want to file while Kanye was having serious mental health problems, because that obviously would have been very tough for him to deal with,” the tabloid wrote in March.

Added this source at the time:

“[Now] Kim knows the time is finally right for her to leave Kanye. She’s been talking to her lawyer, and divorce papers have been drawn up.”

That never happened, of course.

But we did wonder back then why neither Kardashian nor West said a single word about the rumors.

“Right now, things look very tough for their marriage,” reported Radar Online mere weeks ago.

And yet still… nothing from Kim, someone who spends nearly every waking second on social media or the Internet.

Why didn’t she simply shoot these reports down? Was it because there was some truth to them at the time?

That’s our best guess.

We’re guessing that Kim and Kanye really were at a bad place for awhile. Did this mean that divorce was a legitimate option? We may never know.

But now they’ve moved past it. Now they’ve found common ground and now they are totally in love all over again.

Hence why Kim finally made a crack about those break-up rumors in her birthday mesage.

Speaking of which…. happy birthday, Kanye West!!!!

Can you get us a gift for the occasion and go on another classic rant? PLEASE?!?

Critics SAVAGE Latest Pirates of the Caribbean: Read the Reviews!

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales will likely make a lot of money at the box office.

Which is good news for star Johnny Depp, who could use every last cent these days.

But critics across the country are positively SLAMMING both Depp and the latest installment in this franchise, which has clearly run out of ideas, humor and any semblance of entertainment.

Consider the Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales reviews below before you head out to the theater this weekend…

1. Angie Han, Mashable:

Angie han mashable

Oh, if only dead men told no tales. Then we might have avoided this fifth Pirates of the Caribbean adventure, which fails to justify its own existence in any way whatsoever.

2. John DeFore, The Hollywood Reporter:

John defore the hollywood reporter

Johnny Depp’s cartoonishly louche Keith Richards-meets-Hunter Thompson pirate Jack Sparrow, the globally recognized caricature who by now feels (appropriately) more like a theme-park mascot than a Hollywood swashbuckler. Depp remains wholeheartedly the focus of this fifth Pirates film, and saying the character’s loopy novelty has faded is like complaining that there are maggots in the below-decks gruel: You knew what you were getting when you came aboard.

3. Andrew Barker, Variety:

Andrew barker variety

His performance here is no better and no worse than in his previous two or three outings, though what once was a bracingly anarchic approach is starting to feel a bit old hat, like a standup comic rehashing vintage punchlines for cheers of recognition, rather than laughs.

4. Jim Vejvoda, IGN:

Jim vejvoda ign

Jack’s schtick is so tired now – it’s been tired since the second film, frankly – but Johnny Depp does seem to be trying a wee bit harder to deliver here than he was in his sleepwalking turn in On Stranger Tides. Still, it is like seeing a classic rock band perform uninspired encores of their biggest hits, with only fleeting reminders of the magic that made you like their music to begin with.

5. DeFore Again, on The Rest of The Cast:

Defore again on the rest of the cast

[Kaya] Scodelario, of the Maze Runner films and Andrea Arnold’s Wuthering Heights, is just about the only member of the cast who seems to believe she’s expected to be more than a thin generic functionary or flamboyant scene-stealer. Which is unfortunate, given how Jeff Nathanson’s screenplay sometimes treats her.

6. Matt Singer, Screencrush:

Matt singer screencrush

[Salazar is] played by Javier Bardem in a performance that is at least 45 percent him hissing the words “Jack” and “Sparrow” repeatedly while black goo drips off his lips. Bardem’s absurdly hammy work here makes his Skyfall villain look like a model of thespianic restraint in comparison.

Jimmy Kimmel Fires Back at Critics, Stands By Healthcare Critique

Just over a week ago, Jimmy Kimmel shared a heartbreaking and inspiring story with the world.

He fought back tears on stage while he told his audience about the emergency heart surgery his newborn son, Billy, was forced to go through just three days after entering the world.

It was a candid, emotional, memorable and unique moment, one in which a celebrity came across as nothing more than a loving and frightened father…

… and it somehow earned Kimmel some criticism from various Republicans.

This is because Kimmel concluded his monologue with a plea for a national healthcare package that would ensure all babies had the same chance his did.

He said that no one"s income level should determine whether or not their child receives the best medical attention possible.

How is this a controversial stance?

Ask the Congressman who mocked folks for caring about Kimmel"s situation; or the columnist who referred to him as an "elitist creep."

On Monday night, Kimmel gave fans an update on little Billy, while also addressing comments such as these.

“One week ago tonight, I made an emotional speech – that was seen by millions – and as a result of my powerful words, Republicans in Congress had second thoughts about repeal and replace, they realized that what is right is right -– and I saved health insurance in America!” Kimmel.

Wait, he joked, adding:

“Oh, I didn’t? They voted against it anyway? I really need to pay more attention to the news.”

The father of four then thanked his fans, especially those who donations made to the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles in the last week.

“What a humbling outpouring of support," he said.

So many people made donations to CHLA and my wife and I are very grateful for them. Our plan is to send a card to everyone who made a donation and there were a lot, so you might be getting those at Christmas time.”

As for critics such as Newt Gingrich, who claimed Kimmel is simply mistaken in his views because all hospitals would perform emergency surgery on a baby?

"Yes, it is true that if you have an emergency they will do an operation, and that’s terrific if your baby’s health problems are all solved during that one visit," the comedian shot back, adding:

"The only problem is that never, ever happens… We’ve had a dozen doctor’s appointments since our son had surgery. You have a cardiologist, a pediatrician, the surgeons, some kids need an ambulance to transport them – and that doesn’t even count parents who have to miss work for all this stuff."

Kimmel, who did not grow up rich, also said the following about those who referred to him as "elitist" and "out of touch."

I can"t even count the number of times I"ve been called an "out of touch Hollywood elitist creep" this week. Which, I have to say, I kind of appreciate.

Because when I was a kid, we had to drink powdered milk because we couldn’t afford the liquid. Our orange juice came frozen out of a can, it would squeeze out.

My father – on the rare occasion we took a family trip – would hide our dog in the back of the car and then smuggle it into our motel room to avoid paying the two-dollar pet fee.

So I have to say, my dream was to become an "out of touch Hollywood elitist." And I guess it came true.

Vanessa Grimaldi and Nick Viall Dismiss Critics, Insist They Really Are Happy

Nick Viall and Vanessa Grimadli are tuning out critics after a widely panned debut as a couple on The Bachelor: After the Final Rose special.

As The Bachelor spoilers predicted, Nick proposed, she said yes … and predictions of their imminent demise also didn’t look far off.

Suffice it to say, alumni of Bachelor Nation and fans alike were far from confident in Nick Viall and Vanessa Grimaldi‘s future Monday.

Past stars from Sean Lowe and Catherine Guidici to J.P. Rosenbaum and Trista Sutter all took to social media to voice their skepticism.

Typically you’d see a united front, with the alumni rallying around the couple, but Viall and Grimaldi’s interaction was just that awkward.

Yet despite the negative commentary from critics doubting their love for one another, the couple are focusing on the positive together.

“You can never make people happy. At the end of the day, we are focusing on our relationship,” said Grimaldi, a special ed teacher.

“It’s so easy to focus on the negative, which sometimes I do, and Nick tries to get me out of it. But it’s the world that we’re living in.”

The duo admitted that it’s been a struggle up to this point, and that they are ready to live life together without ABC TV cameras rolling.

“I was excited for it to end, but now I am sad,” Grimaldi said.

“I mean, I’m excited for us to start our real life together.”

(NOTE: Why is she sad about it then? This is confusing.)

“She’s very much looking forward for this to be over,” Viall added, admitting, “It was very difficult for us as a couple at the end.”

While the pair are engaged, they recognize that they “have a long way to go” and “are getting to know each other” these days.

“I don’t think any relationship is perfect,” said Vanessa.

Definitely not, but most Bachelor and Bachelorette couples come out of the finale looking a bit more optimistic than these two lovebirds.

“I hope we came across as in love and passionate tonight,” Nick said, responding to the widespread sentiment that they looked miserable.

“The reality is – we joke about it, but it’s true – we don’t know what it’s like to go to the movies together, to spend time together in the real world.”

“Our relationship has been based off of stressful situations.”

Vanessa, for her part, seconded that notion and said that “I feel like it’s been on standstill for a little bit … I’m ready to move forward.”

How far forward will they move, though?

Eva Amurri Lashes Out at Critics: Parenthood is Not a Competition!

Earlier this week, Eva Amurri Martino made a startling confession:

In a blog post she penned on New Year’s Day, the actress revealed on her website, HappilyEvaAfter.com, that her 10-week-old son Major James, “cracked his head on the hardwood floor” after the family’s night nurse fell asleep while holding him.

How awful, right?

Martino explained what happened and the aftermath as follows:

“He suffered a fractured skull and bleeding on his brain, and was transported by ambulance to Yale Medical Center.

“I spent two harrowing days with him to receive emergency care and further testing. To say these were the most traumatic and anxious two days of my life is an understatement.”

We can only imagine.

Our only reaction to this story was to send Eva and her husband our best wishes and our hope that their child makes a full recovery.

But some folks out there felt differently.

They took issue with Eva having a night nurse in the first place, questioning how she can consider herself to be a responsible parent if someone else is holding, feeding and rocking her baby at home.

Why? Because people suck.

They think that an Internet connection gives them a right to share every asinine opinion that comes into their head.

In response to the incident, her sharing of it and the response it has received, Eva at first showed gratitude to her fans.

“Thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone who has reached out with words of comfort or to share their own stories the past 24 hours,” she wrote on Instagram today, as the opening to a lengthy caption.

She continued:

“It is so moving to know there are so many of you who are wishing our sweet boy well, and who are rooting us on as a family.”

The daughter of Susan Sarandon then addressed her critics.

“I’d like to say one thing, which is that Parenthood is not a competition. Nobody gets an award at the end of all of it for doing it the best or most perfect way.

“All that matters is how we make our children feel, how we feel about them, and how we feel about ourselves as parents.”

Really. Shouldn’t this be obvious?

“To those who have expressed judgement, cruelty, and criticism of me, my choices, or my fragility during this time- I’m not going to justify myself to you,” she concluded.

“But I sincerely wish that 2017 brings you enough self love and confidence that you no longer feel the need to tear down another person during their darkest moment.

“Peace, please. Xx EAM.”

She’s a bigger person than we are.

We’d have likely used certain words in our reply that our children will hopefully not learn until their teenage years.

We’re not above making fun of certain parents out there in a jovial manner. See what we mean below:

But when a mother just say at her baby’s hospital bedside for days due to a simple accident?

You really need to question her life choices if you hide behind a computer and give her crap after that.
