Teen Mom Cast vs. MTV: 15 Times Producers Screwed Them Over with Editing ... or Did They?
If you"re a Teen Mom fan, you know how this story goes.
A new episode airs, one of the moms or one of the dads or some other random cast member ends up looking bad in some way, and so that person hops on social media to blame MTV.
Because these people never actually behave poorly, get it? It"s always MTV"s fault for editing things to look that way.
We"ve seen Jenelle Evans use this tactic, we"ve seen it from Leah Messer, Amber Portwood, Kailyn Lowry — probably every single cast member has, at one point or another, pulled this stunt.
Check out the worst examples of this truly entertaining phenomenon below …
1. Jenelle Evans: Abused by David Eason?
2. Chelsea Houska: Is Aubree Ruining Cole’s Experience?
3. Kailyn Lowry: Did MTV Make Isaac Cry?!
4. Jeremy Calvert: Deadbeat Dad?
5. Tyler Baltierra: I’m a Good Husband and Father!
6. Taylor McKinney: Pressured by Maci to Propose?

Colton Haynes Praises "American Horror Story" Producers for Editing Shooting Scene
Colton Haynes couldn’t have said it better — it was great that ‘American Horror Story’ producers cut out a shooting scene in the wake of the Vegas massacre. We got the ‘AHS: Cult’ star at LAX where we asked him about Tuesday’s episode…

Kailyn Lowry and Chelsea Houska Put MTV on BLAST: Stop with the Editing!
For a while now, it’s seemed like complaining about MTV has become a favorite pastime for each and every Teen Mom cast member.
Which is weird, considering that MTV is paying this girls hundreds of thousands of dollars to just live their senselessly dramatic lives.
We’ve seen Farrah Abraham lose her mind at producers because her contract stated she couldn’t do certain other gigs and she disagreed with it (after signing it).
We’ve seen Jenelle Evans insist that editors make her look bad, when really we know that it’s Jenelle that makes herself look bad.
Really, most of the moms’ issues come down to editing — either they feel like they’re portrayed in a negative way, or their scenes get spliced together for the sake of a juicy storyline.
And this week, both Kailyn Lowry and Chelsea Houska are taking issue with the latest episode of Teen Mom 2.
Chelsea started the conversation — so far on the show, her storyline has mostly been about welcoming little baby Watson and the adjustment it’s been for the family.
Aubree in particular has had a rough time getting used to the new addition, which makes sense. After all, she’d been Chelsea’s only child for a long, long time.
But at one point during the episode, she made a comment about the situation which seemed a little odd.
And, as she explained on Twitter, the comment wasn’t about that situation at all.
“Just a little something that irked me about the show tonight,” she tweeted. “There’s a part where I say ‘I feel like it’s taking away from Cole’s experience."”
“And that was taken out of context from a different convo and added in that scene for some reason.”
She added the hashtag “Reality TV probs,” because hey, what can you do?
Not much, she clarified — when someone asked if they got to approve episodes before they air, she answered “Helllllll no lol that would be amazing if we could haha.”
Kailyn replied to Chelsea’s tweet about taking lines of context, saying that MTV did just that several times throughout the episode.
She even said that they “provoked the scene with Isaac crying at dinner!!! And I lost my mind!!!”
She also wrote “Let’s talk about how bad the timeline is off tonight. Peep the wall paint and how it flips from mint to yellow back to mind.”
If this is true — and honestly with something as noticeable as the paint on the wall, it’s easy to believe the rest of their claims — it’s pretty sad.
Especially the thought of provoking sweet little Isaac into crying over Kailyn and Javi’s divorce over dinner.
But then again, these ladies have to realize that MTV is running a business, and they know what will attract viewers to the show.
Lots and lots of drama, if you weren’t aware.
If they don’t care for it, they have the option of quitting, but if the income is too important to them, it looks like they’re just going to have to deal with it.

Rachel Lindsay Defends Response to Peter Kraus" Bachelorette Bombshell: Editing, People!
As The Bachelorette spoilers predicted, Rachel Lindsay’s final three men all went to Dallas and Spain with her on the penultimate episode.
What no one could’ve predicted was the scrutiny Rachel would face for her response to Peter Kraus’ thoughts on (not) getting engaged.
Monday’s dramatic ending of The Bachelorette featured none of the three remaining men being eliminated, but Peter dropping a bombshell.
Kraus’ doubts about marriage and uncertainty about the engagement that typically comes at the Final Rose ceremony were a shocker.
It’s not that anything Peter said in particular was all that shocking, but in the context of The Bachelorette, such candor is unheard of.
To make a long story short, Peter told Rachel that he only wants to get engaged once, because he sees marriage as a given after that.
Furthermore, he didn’t know if they were there yet as a couple, despite the fact that things are moving very positively in that direction.
Sounds reasonable, right? So what’s the problem?
Well, if you ask Rachel … the editing is the issue.
Lindsay’s response, as seen on ABC, was basically saying that an engagement wasn’t marriage, and that she’s not looking for a boyfriend.
Plenty of fans on Twitter immediately questioned why she didn’t think an engagement is akin to marriage, prompting her to reply.
Rachel addressed that as such on Twitter:
“This was the chopped and screwed version of my response. Obviously engagement means marriage 2 me. It’s all I talk about.”
Some people defended her. One said:
“I understand what Rachel means she’s not looking for a boyfriend. She wants an engagement with someone who is sure about her.”
Another Lindsay fan added, “That has to be so frustrating. I couldn’t imagine saying one thing and it being portrayed completely differently.”
Anytime anything happens to anyone who doesn’t like it, they always hide behind editing; Rachel may have a legit gripe here, however.
Without a doubt, it’s a popular show with a vested interest in keeping viewers hooked, and that was tailor made for a dramatic cliffhanger.
As for Peter’s comments, many viewers applauded him for his honesty, and speaking his mind despite it breaking with show tradition.
Rachel’s parents seemed skeptical that one can fall in love and commit to marriage after two months, but rarely does a suitor say this.
While tons of people gave Peter props, others were suspicious, accusing him of leaving himself an out or “playing the game” with this.
There’s talk (largely due to his high school yearbook comment that he would be The Bachelor) that he wants to be the next Bachelor.
He may well get to live that dream.
Regardless, however, it’s a bit of a stretch to think he choreographed that scene last night just to give himself some more wiggle room.
As for whether this dooms Peter’s chances, Rachel wasn’t divulging any Bachelorette spoilers (follow the link for those if you like).
She did Tweet a finale teaser:
“I want somebody who wants what I want AND wants it with me… Stay tuned to see who I found that w/ on the finale 2 weeks!”
You can bet that we will.

Jeremy Calvert: Teen Mom 2 Editing is Bulls--t! MTV Ruins Lives Through Social Engineering!
Teen Mom 2’s Jeremy Calvert, Leah Messer’s ex, has had it with what he considers unfair editing on the popular MTV reality show.
Biting the hand that made him a quasi-celebrity, you might say? Jer doesn’t see it that way. Rather, he considers the charade a detriment:
Calvert took to his Instagram page to deliver a short but pointed video rant in which he accused the network of manipulating storylines.
Taking issue with a deleted scene from the premiere, he promised that he wouldn’t allow MTV’s portrayal of him to be unfairly one-sided:
“This season of Teen Mom 2 when s–t’s not edited and portrayed correctly as it took place in real time,” Jeremy promised his followers:
“Now that this clip has come to my attention, you’re gonna hear my own statement and my own side of s–t of how it’s not edited correctly.”
“So stay tuned.”
Grammatical imperfections aside, Jeremy makes a point he has raised before – and he continued his diatribe in the video’s caption.
Jeremy wrote:
“Large media corporations have a tendency to socially engineer viewers to instill an emotion on viewers which is most lucrative for their stakeholders.”
“Holding no regard for the impact they can have on my life, and the life of my family,” he continued, the network exploits him … for now.
Be on notice:
“As a repercussion for deceitful editing, I will address each scene with what really happened. I appreciate all of your support over the years.”
In the clip he’s referring to, Leah Messer was driving in the car with their daughter Adalynn after picking her up from a visit with Jeremy.
During the car ride, Leah talked about Jeremy’s engagement to Brooke Wehr, his longtime girlfriend. Here’s what MTV put on its website:
“I guess he got engaged on his vacation,” Leah said. “I mean, he was like, ‘Yeah, I got engaged.’ But then he was like, ‘It’s just engaged."”
“‘It’s not that serious.’”
Leah’s implication was that she was cool with it, but that Jeremy may not be excited about being engaged to Wehr, at the end of the day.
“I just hope that this is serious and something that you really want for the sake of our child,” she said, and Jeremy was none too pleased.
Somewhat ironically, one person who might share his opinion on the producers not treating the cast fairly regarding editing is … Messer.
Leah has made this view clear before, and even said that worrying about editing gives her anxiety and adversely impacts her parenting.
That said …
She still had a full-on “panic attack” when she lost her keys before her twins’ tee-ball game on the Season 8 premiere of the show January 2.
“I’m going to be super late. I cannot be late for their game. Every time MTV is here something like this has to happen,” Messer said.
Fans slammed Messer – who, in the past, has criticized Jeremy for not being there for Addie – for blaming MTV for her parenting struggles.
“Oh look, Leah hasn’t changed a bit,” one follower said.
Another viewer reacted incredulously: “Leah only functions like a hot wreck when MTV is there? Does all the crayon on the wall say LIAR?”
Wow. Maybe she and Jer should form a support group.

Leah Messer: Teen Mom 2 is Gonna Make Me Look Terrible with Editing, Again!
Leah Messer has been portrayed as a bad mom on MTV in the past, and the Teen Mom 2 star admits she’s nervous it’ll happen again.
The West Virginia native doesn’t exactly help her own cause sometimes, but does she have a bone to pick with producers and editing?
Sometimes, it does seem like she can’t catch a break.
When it’s not fans slamming Leah’s makeup-free pic, it’s people getting on her case for her relationship or parenting decisions. Constantly.
Throw in the fact that (according to her) MTV is focused on creating better storylines rather than portraying her fairly, and she’s anxious.
“Yes sometimes [I get nervous],” Messer told Radar.
“There is a lot of editing and all that,” she added.
“You don’t know what’s going to be on air.”
Last season, Messer came under fire all sorts of times.
Perhaps most notably, she was torn a new one by fans who watch Teen Mom 2 online for refusing to feed her twin daughters breakfast.
She blamed that on editing, too, insisting that she was scrambling to get everybody ready for a long ride to school and clearly feeds them.
Moreover, the 24-year-old mom of three was slammed for letting her youngest daughter, Adalynn, to eat sugar packets at a restaurant.
Leah called MTV out online for how she was depicted.
“It’s so sad how the person behind the editing can even live a happy life by editing to manipulate the audience watching,” she tweeted.
“It makes me feel like my life story isn’t enough.”
Despite her fears, and plenty of past tumult that you could never blame on editing, Messer insists her storyline this season won’t be dramatic.
Why? Because there simply isn’t much drama!
“There are a lot of positive things going on with the girls and I,” she told the celebrity gossip site, insisting she’s in a great place lately.
“Good things, great things.”
Messer told Radar how despite issues with baby daddies Corey Simms and Jeremy Calvert in the past, fans won’t see the exes feuding.
“We actually co-parent great, we get along good,” she said of Simms, the father of her twin girls, while the same is mostly true of Calvert:
“Jeremy and I get along pretty well.”
In the case of Calvert, Leah has some issue with the fact that Jeremy is engaged to Brooke Wehr and spends so much time with her.
When it comes to Corey, she says won’t be taking Simms to court for custody, saying things are going very well in their current arrangement.
Bottom line? Things are looking up for her, and if that remains the case, no amount of editing is going to derail her positive trajectory.

Tyler Baltierra Blasts Teen Mom Editing: I"m A Good Father!
Tyler Baltierra has had a tough time of it on Teen Mom OG this season.
The reality TV star and wife, Catelynn Lowell have been trying to have some normal in their life, but it appears that their marriage was not as rock solid as it once was.
If you watch Teen Mom OG online, you’ll know that Tyler has not exactly been portrayed as the best husband and father recently.
He’s been blasted by Teen Mom fans for body shaming Catelynn.
It all started in the season premiere, but that was not the end of it.
Catelynn has been struggling with anxiety and depression, so the last thing she needs is someone who she looks to for support trashing her appearance.
The fans were right to air their thoughts on the way he was treating his wife. There’s no denying that Catelynn’s rehab stint had an affect on him as a husband and father.
However, Catelynn was the one who took the first step to recovery by going to rehab. Tyler shattering her confidence is not going to do them any favors.
Tyler has now taken aim at the Teen Mom producers for editing him in such a way that the viewers are being manipulated into thinking something different happened.
It’s sort of what happens on reality TV shows.
A prime example of it in effect is on a recent episode of The Real Housewives of New Jersey.
Have a look for yourself below:
Tyler took to Twitter to send out some facts to his followers about the reality TV works.
Have a look at what he had to say:
It must suck to be portrayed as a less than savory person, but that’s what you can expect when you sign up to appear on a reality TV series.
Tyler later quipped that he is happy to be the “the POS baby daddy this season, if it helps the ratings.”
Does that mean he’s going to act more outrageous in future episodes?
We’ll have to tune in to find out!
Tyler is not the only member of the Teen Mom family to blast the editing.
Jenelle Evans and Leah Messer have both threatened to quit the show in the past because of the way they were being portrayed.
What do you think of all of this?

Teen Mom 2 Stars Demand More Money, Better Editing From MTV
Ah, contract re-negotiations. Things can get out of hand if both sides are not careful with their approach.
The girls on Teen Mom 2 might have been dumb enough not to use a condom at one point in the lives, but they know how much money they’ve made MTV.
So, like any successful TV star, Chelsea Houska, Kailyn Lowry, Jenelle Evans and Leah Messer are ready to fight for their worth.
The only problem is that contracts are already in place, and producers are finding all sorts of loopholes to avoid negotiations.
“MTV has locked the girls all down for season 7 so they have been calling the latest filming ‘extra’ or ‘bonus’ footage so they don’t have to negotiate a new contract,” a source told Radar Online.
Naturally, there will be spats here and there about playing favorites, and what should air.
“The girls think that Chelsea is the favorite,” a source told Radar Online.
“It seems like she gets the best edit and they think it is unfair.”
Houska gets the best edits because she is in a really great place in her life. She’s not working through divorce number two or battling substance abuse, nor is she getting herself arrested.
Meanwhile…
“Jenelle has been filming again,” the source said. “MTV knows her life is so up and down that they want to make sure they get all the details.”
Evans kinda/sorta confirmed her third pregnancy recently, so there will be plenty of useful footage featuring her baby daddy, David Eason and mom, Babs.
Evans is constantly complaining about the way her storyline is edited, but if Andy Cohen has taught us anything about reality TV, the content speaks for itself.
Also filming again? All the dads, be they estranged from their children, fighting with their baby mamas or just plain irritating to watch.
“MTV has all of the dads filming, no matter how much the girls hate them,” the source added.
Remember that time Adam Lind revealed Teen Mom 2 salaries? Hopefully he’ll give an update at some point

Leah Messer: Bad Parent, or Victim of Bad Editing?
The embattled Leah Messer of MTV"s Teen Mom 2 has been through the wringer, accused of every bad parenting move under the sun.
All of which she has made amazing excuses for.
If you watch Teen Mom 2 online, you"ve seen one troublesome incident after another involving Leah and her two concerned former spouses.
The twice divorced mother of three makes no apologies for any of the strange behavior and controversial parenting moves she"s exhibited.
Only the (dubious) explanations which we"ve documented below … and clearly have not succeeded in convincing fans, exes, or courts.
Leah lost custody to Corey Simms after a protracted battle, and while she later regained joint custody, she remains on shaky ground.
There"s also the whole Leah-T.R. Dues situation, which we don"t know what to make of these days (or any days), but gives us pause:
Is another live-in lover really what she needs?
We wish her the best, but we fear the worst, at least until she can be honest with herself and others and put her best foot forward in life.
With the new season underway, Leah"s struggles are once again under scrutiny, and her decision making skills under the MTV microscope.
She claims she"s a victim of bad editing on behalf of producers – even Corey had her back on one occasion recently – but is that fair?
Can she really explain away ALL of these things? Isn"t a pattern like this impossible to ignore? Either way, we just hope she fights through it.
Just be strong, girl. You can do it. #believe

Corey Simms Defends Leah Messer, Slams "Teen Mom" Editing
After months of being branded a mess and a bad mom, Leah Messer is finally standing up for herself.
Not only that, but she’s found an unlikely ally in ex-husband, Corey Simms.
“Corey knows how it all works, and feels bad for Leah,” a production source told Radar Online.
“They have been getting along very well lately, and everything with the girls is fine. He believes her when she says what appeared on TV wasn’t actually what happened.”
The West Virginia native “is well aware that producers will do absolutely anything for ratings,” the source added.
“Last season, they made him and [wife] Miranda look like the villains on the show, and they got a lot of backlash from it. They were very upset.”
It’s gotten so bad that Corey and Miranda don’t bother watching Teen Mom 2 anymore.
“It’s too frustrating for them,” the source pointed out. “They refuse to pay any attention to the fake drama.”
On March 25th, Messer defended herself in a series of tweets, furious at how she’s been portrayed on the series:
“It’s so sad how the person behind the editing can even live a happy life by Editing to manipulate the audience watching. It makes me feel like my story just isn’t enough.
I DID hit rock bottom but I come out of it and I was willing to air it ALL because if just ONE person watched and reached out for HELP even when they feel so ALONE that’s all I cared about because I could NEVER imagine ANYONE feeling the pain, hurt, depression AND anxiety that I WAS suffering from. It would break my heart!
I wanted to bring awareness and HELP others and if MTV couldn’t share that then I will do it on my own the way God wants me to!!!!
As hard as it was to go through. I know there’s reasoning why I went through it. AND It hurts to feel BETRAYED by the ones I THOUGHT I could trust with my story.
It goes to show you how “THE ENTERTAINMENT WORLD” really is and I guess everyone will see where I REALLY am starting EPISODE 4. #SUCHASHAME.
When others that is suffering could ALREADY be reaching out for help It just BREAKS MY HEART!!! It’s NOT okay but I KNOW that I am NOW in such a AMAZING place and I LOVE YOU ALL!
I hope to continue to share my story but I REFUSE to allow it to be twisted for the benefit of a NETWORK!”
Do you think Messer was the victim of editing?

Kris Jenner Messes With KUTWK Editing As Ratings Fall
Desperate times call for desperate measures. So what if it messes with a broken relationship?
In what has become a weekly update in Keeping Up With The Kardashians: Editing Flubs, it’s been revealed that Scott and Kourtney’s fragile storyline is out of order.
Keeping Up With The Kontinuity Errors and Radar Online pointed out that the January 3rd episode, in which Scott was confronted by all three Kardashian sisters, doesn’t make chronological sense.
Scott arrived at Jenner’s home thinking he was having a one-on-one with Kourtney following their break-up. Instead, he was met with the wrath of Khloe and Kim, who took him to task for his reckless behavior.
Kourtney also complained that Scott never sees their three kids anymore.
At one point, Scott told the sisters that he had contemplated suicide, an emotional moment which made everyone tear up.
Kontinuity Errors points out that this scene was filmed on September 3rd, and Kourtney made the exact same comment about Scott not being around for their kids in the second episode of this season.
“In that episode, Lord appeared alone at Jenner’s home and she called Kardashian on the phone and the two of them proceeded to lambaste him for abandoning his children,” Radar explains.
“That scene was filmed on September 14, 2015, nearly two weeks after the scene in Sunday’s show. But it actually aired back on November 22.”
Ok, now I’m a bit dizzy.
Why all the fuss about editing scenes? For one, it messed with the facts in regards to Kourtney and Scott’s relationship.
Additionally, Jenner is being accused of doctoring said scenes because ratings are in the toilet for KUWTK.
Episode 3 of this season pulled in only 1.893 million viewers, according to Nielson ratings; the previous week’s episode attracted 2.053 million.
This season’s premiere episode was the lowest-ranking episode in the series’ history.
Watch recent episodes of Keeping Up With The Kardashians yourself to see how editing has made viewers irate.
