Veteran News Anchor, En Route to Funeral, Dies of Stroke
Shocking and tragic news out of the world of television this week:
Amanda Davis, a popular news anchor in Atlanta, died on Wednesday after she suffered a “massive spontaneous stroke” while on the way to to her stepfather’s funeral.
She was 62 years old.
According to local reports, the CBS46 reporter was rushed to a hospital on Tuesday evening due to a medical emergency at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
She passed away the next night.
Davis had only just informed Twitter followers a few hours earlier that her "pops" had died and that his funeral was planned for Wednesday.
Per the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, she was at the airport and heading to Texas to say farewell when she suffered this fatal stroke.
Her final post on Facebook was shared on Christmas Eve and featured a text graphic about the difficulty of experiencing one"s first Christmas after losing a close friend or relative.
It included the caption: “Stay strong, keep praising the Lord."
Davis had served as a news anchor in Atlanta for more than three decades,having previously worked at FOX5 Atlanta, where she helped launch Good Day Atlanta way back in 1992.
She left that station in 2013 and went to work for a local CBS affiliate, which Tweeted the following in the wake of her passing:
Today we"re taking the time to remember a member of our family, #AmandaDavis, who tragically passed away after suffering a stroke on Tuesday.

Davis gained a unique following and formed a close bond with viewers after she opened up about an alcohol addiction in 2016 with the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
“It felt good,” she said about her treatment program, adding at the time:
“I had learned a lot and gotten to the underlying issue for the drinking and my depression, which was the loss of that relationship. I was wallowing in that grief and drinking to feel better.”
In the wake of this stunning news, many former and current colleagues took to social media to express their condolences.
For example, CBS46 morning traffic reporter Julie Smith Tweeted:
“In total and complete shock right now. Please pray for comfort and peace for Amanda’s family. They’ve been through a lot & need our prayers.
"Please pray also for all of our @cbs46 family as we deal with the loss of our colleague & friend. Rest In Peace Amanda.”
Added anchor Sharon Reed:
“RIP Amanda Davis. Our dear colleague passed away minutes ago. She was surrounded by her family and friends. We loved her here at CBS46.
"We will miss her and honor her memory."

Debbie Reynolds: Mother of Carrie Fisher Suffers Possible Stroke
More sad news out of Hollywood today, as iconic actress and singer Debbie Reynolds has reportedly been rushed to a Los Angeles-area hospital after exhibiting symptoms of a stroke.
Just yesterday, Reynolds’ daughter, Carrie Fisher, passed away after suffering a heart attack aboard an airplane.
According to TMZ, Reynolds was at the home of her son, Todd Fisher, discussing plans for Carrie’s funeral at the time of her medical emergency.
Sources say Reynolds’ family called 911 to report a possible stroke, and she was transported to the hospital by ambulance shortly thereafter.
Early reports offer few details about the 84-year-old’s condition.
Reynolds was reportedly admitted to the hospital around 1 pm PST.
Sources say her family has gathered to be by her side, and they’re currently awaiting a prognosis.
TMZ is reporting that emergency dispatch audio indicates multiple units were directed to the scene, and first responders stated that Reynolds appeared to have suffered a stroke.
Though these days she’s likely best known as the mother of Carrie Fisher, for many years, Reynolds was one of the most in-demand performers in Hollywood.
Reynolds has racked up more than 80 film and television credits over the course of her eight decades in the industry.
She earned an Academy Award for her role in The Unsinkable Molly Brown, an Emmy for her work on Will & Grace.
Fisher spoke openly about the difficulties of being raised by two celebrities (her father was actor Eddie Fisher), telling Oprah Winfrey in 2011:
“The family is organized [around] the parents, [whereas] normally the family is organized around raising the child.”
Over the years, Reynolds has been equally candid about the rough patches in her relationship with her daughter.
“There have been a few times when I thought I was going to lose Carrie,” she said in her interview with Oprah.
“I’ve had to walk through a lot of my tears. But she’s worth it.”

Katie May Dies: What Caused Her Stroke?
As previously reported, Snapchat star and beloved model Katie May died yesterday at the age of 34.
Following a stroke, May had been in critical condition prior to her passing, prompting many to wonder:
What happened? How does someone so young suffer a fatal stroke?
According to TMZ sources, the former Playboy star took a hard fall while taking part in a Los Angeles photo shoot last week.
The incident caused such severe neck pain that May was taken to the hospital and a few hours after seeing a doctor for her injuries.
On Friday, however, the issue remained, causing May to Tweet about it to followers:
“Pinched a nerve in my neck on a photoshoot and got adjusted this morning. It really hurts!”
Tragically, sources believe the 34-year-old model did NOT actually pinch a nerve, but instead tore the carotid artery in her neck.
Physicians told her family members that this tear caused a blood clot… which broke off and caused her stroke on Monday. Such a development is known as a carotid artery dissection.
May was taken off life support on Thursday night and passed away while surrounded by loved ones.

Katie May: "Queen of Snapchat" In Critical Condition Following Stroke
Katie May – a Playboy model whose web popularity has earned her the title “Queen of Snapchat” – has reportedly been hospitalized after suffering a “catastrophic” stroke.
At this point, little is known about May’s condition but sources tell TMZ that her prognosis is “grim.”
Despite her nearly 2 million Instagram followers, little is known about May’s personal life, but she is believed to be a single mom in her mid-thirties.
Friends say Katie is raising a 7-year-old daughter, and while a GoFundMe page has been created for donations to the young girl, the accounts lack of information has led many to believe it is fake.
Until more information is available, fans have been encouraged not to make donations to the account, which contains no information about the model, her condition, or her family.
Katie’s social media pages have been flooded with well-wishes, but she has not posted anything since Monday, leading many to believe that she suffered the stroke several days ago.
May occasionally talks about health and fitness on her social media pages, but has never mentioned any pre-existing condition that could lead to a stroke at such a young age.

Lamar Odom Overdosed on Drugs, May Have Suffered Stroke, Doctors Report
Last night, Lamar Odom was found unconscious after several days of partying at the Love Ranch brothel in Nevada.
Odom is currently comatose, and until recently, there were conflicting reports about how he wound up in his present state.
Now, E! News is reporting that Odom has overdosed on several different drugs, and he may have suffered a stroke and permanent brain damage.
“He was doing crack cocaine all weekend and he choked on his mucous,” the insider explains. “They’re now having to fix all the damage it has done.
“So, likely there’s brain damage, but they’re not sure how much. Virtually every drug imaginable was found in his system.”
Doctors add that it appears Odom suffered from an “ischemic stroke,” which is the result of a clot preventing proper blood flow to the brain.
Ischemic strokes are often the result of prolonged cocaine use.
“The long term effects of his drug use have taken a toll on his body and the binge this time was too much to handle,” the source says.
The insider adds that while doctors are “treating this as an overdose situation,” they do not believe that it was a suicide attempt.

Kim Zolciak"s Stroke May Have Saved Her Life! Doctors Apparently Discovered A Life-Threatening Heart Condition During Her Hospital Stay
We are so thankful she’s OK!!
After Kim Zolciak-Biermann‘s mini-stroke on Thursday, she went home to recover and it appeared that a scary episode was behind her for good.

Now, though, it turns out we are only just learning how scary the health problem really was — and how close it came to being truly life-threatening!
As it turns out Kim had a procedure done on her heart following the mini-stroke when doctors discovered an underlying heart issue, which had it not been completed, could’ve ended up claiming her life.
In a bizarre way, the stroke actually turned out to be a good thing for Kim — had she not gone to the hospital on Thursday, she likely would have never found out about the heart issue, and doctors apparently are saying that if it hadn’t been treated when it was this week, it certainly would’ve been life threatening.
Kim likely won’t be on DWTS on Monday night, but that’s certainly insignificant at this point — we are just very very thankful she’s on the mend!

Kim Zolciak Undergoes Another Procedure Following Her Mini Stroke — What"s Going On?
We still can’t believe that Kim Zolciak-Biermann suffered a mini stroke!
On Friday, Kim took to Instagram to update her followers on the status of her health following a scary and life threatening experience on September 23.

While the pic shows oxygen tubes over the reality star’s face, fans shouldn’t be alarmed. The mom of six explained:
“Going in for one more procedure, things are looking up! Don’t let the oxygen scare you it’s just protocol. I wanted to THANK all of you for the love! I feel so overwhelmed with all the texts, comments, etc. I’m so grateful to have all of you! #TheyDontCallMeToughieForNothing.”
Phew, we’re glad the situation isn’t more serious! Not to mention we’re thrilled that Zolciak is feeling the love — she needs all the support she can get right now!
We just wonder if the Tardy For The Party singer will be rejoining the cast of Dancing With The Stars following her stroke. We guess we’ll have to wait and see!

Kim Zolciak: Loses Speaking Ability After Suffering From Stroke!!
On the season premiere of the hit reality competition show, Kim Zolciak bombed her performance on Dancing With the Stars.
It was so bad that she even considered leaving the show.
Unfortunately, she might have to leave the show now that Kim has had a serious health scare.
After flying home from Dancing With the Stars on Wednesday, the former star of The Real Housewives of Atlanta suffered a transient ischemic attack (aka a mini stroke).
Kim revealed the news of her scary condition with a selfie posted on Instagram.
She captioned the picture, “The last 24hrs have been whirlwind! I landed yesterday morning from LAX (took the red eye right after DWTS) I got home and within minutes suffered a TIA (mini stroke).”
The stroke was severe enough to cause numbness and a loss of speech.
Kim, 37, added, “the left side of my body went completely numb and my speech was gone.” The reality star also thanked her husband Kroy Biermann and her oldest daughter Brielle for their “quick reactions.”
She ended her Instagram post with a set of prayer hand emojis saying, “I have 100%of my feeling back THANK GOD. Still in the hospital but I just know I’m getting released today!”
Kim has not been a favorite on Dancing With the Stars. In fact, for most of her performances, she has earned dreadfully low scores.
On Monday night’s show, she told host Erin Andrews, “I still have a heart even though I’m, like, bad. I still have a heart.”
Let’s hope she keeps that positive attitude as she recovers. Get well soon, Kim!
