Vanderpump Rules Season 4 Episode 3 Recap: Pretty Little Lies

Last night onVanderpump Rules Season 4, Episode 3, Lala had herself a meltdown after Scheana Marie and Katie gave her heck for lying about a modeling job in Italy.  This did not please Lisa Vanderpump, but Scheana was dealing with bigger problems at home.

Shay has been keeping secrets from his wife, which is threatening to tear their marriage apart.  It looks like Shay is battling depression, and Scheana told Lisa that he’s been self-medicating with alcohol and prescription pills.

This is a lesson in adulthood, and one that has hopefully forces Scheana to stop pretending that there’s such a thing as a “perfect relationship.”  If Shay is in a dark place, then it’s time to curb the waterworks (or save them for private venting sessions with friends and/or a therapist) and focus on getting him the help he needs.

Grown-up stuff, amiright?

Meanwhile in whoville…

Jax and James are both showing interest in Lala, who is totally loving it because she’s a red-blooded woman.

James is a little twerp and keeps lying to Kristen about shagging Scheana’s friend, Jenna.  This is getting on my nerves, because he keeps nagging Kristen about making him insecure, while confirming in his one-on-ones that he did cheat on her.  RUDE.

Then James sidles up to Lala at Sur, and we can see the makings of side piece as he susses her out for vibes.  Her vibes be strong.

Also – James and Lala have appeared in each other’s Instagrams as of late, which makes me think….

Jax does his sussing, too, which is hardly noteworth because he’s Jax.

Tom Schwartz has booked so many modeling gigs that he’s finally got enough (almost) saved for a ring (no string) for Katie.

He shows up at Rubber Duckie Productions for a modeling gig, and attempts to hug the photographer as a “good to work with you again” greeting.

The interaction results in an awkward side hug, and I’m forced to look away.

Schwartz is adorable with the models; rather than flirt with his co-workers, Schwartz grills them for proposal advice, and the whole thing makes me almost forget that when he’s angry at women, he pours drinks on them.

For me, the highlight of this episode was watching the dumb dumbs at Sur get schooled by the wait staff at Pump.

Lisa thought it a good idea to give the spoiled brats at Sur a refresher course in serving, as well as teach the bartenders how to make drinks created at her newer, shinier, smarter (literally) restaurant.

Jax, who has no business challenging anyone because he’s Jax, was furious about being trained by Eric from Pump, even though Eric from Pump is smarter, sharper and probably a better human than Jax (which is not saying much).

So, Ken Todd put the fear of God in Jax with a simple, “you’ll do as you’re told or you can go peddling for tail on the mean streets of Hollywood.”

It was wonderful.  Jax looked like he was going to cry.  ILY, Ken.

The training was Lisa’s way of assuring viewers that she understands what she’s working with at Sur, and Pump is proof that she actually knows how to hire a proper restaurant staff.
