Chyna: Cause of Death Reported as "Possible Overdose"

Yesterday, WWE icon Chyna was found dead in her Redondo Beach home.

She was  45 years old.

In the 24 hours since the news of her passing went public, there has been considerable speculation about the cause of Chyna’s death.

Currently, little is known about the wrestler and actress’ final days, but it’s been rumored that friends and family were not surprised to learn of her passing.

Insiders say Chyna (real name Joanie Laurer) frequently acted erratically toward the end of her life, and according to one unidentified friend, she “seemed under the influence” on the rare occasions when she left the house.

Now, new details have emerged which may shed light on the cause of Laurer’s tragic passing.

First, a video of Chyna rambling and sporting a black eye emerged online:

Shortly thereafter, several media outlets reported that Chyna’s cause of death was reported as a “possible overdose,” thus somewhat confirming the suspicions of her loved ones.

The results of Chyna’s autopsy and toxicology report will not be released until next week, and the authorities were careful to note that no cause has been determined as of yet:

“Officers arrived on scene and discovered a deceased female inside the location,” Redondo Beach police Sgt. Shawn Freeman said in a news release Thursday.

“There are no indications or signs that the death was a result of foul play. From the preliminary investigation, it appears that the deceased passed away prior to being discovered by the friend.”

“Possible overdose” was a description in the report taken by an officer at the scene, but Sgt. Freeman noted in his statement that authorities have yet “to determine if the death was natural or accidental.”

We’ll have further updates on this story as more information becomes available.
