Music and fashion icon Prince was rushed to the hospital Friday morning after his plane made an emergency landing in Illinois, reports TMZ.
According to the site, the singer’s jet made an unscheduled landing at Quad City International Airport in Rock Island County, Illinois around 1 a.m. on Friday.
After touching down, he was taken to an area hospital in an ambulance.
The “Purple Rain” singer had performed a concert in Atlanta on Thursday evening before boarding the plane.
While the nature of the emergency was unclear at first, sources now say that Prince had been battling the flu for a number of weeks.
He had canceled two concerts last week but was determined to play the show in Atlanta, even though he was still ill.
Once in the air, he began to feel much worse, so the private jet made the emergency landing.
The 57-year-old was reportedly treated and released after three hours, and then hopped back on the plane.
He is now resting at home.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer released his latest album, HITnRUN Phase One, in September 2015.
Prince has updated his Twitter account in the hours following the incident, writing “I am #transformed” just eight hours ago.
