Donald Trump Breaks Silence on Roseanne Cancellation, Makes It About Him

Roseanne Barr’s very public and not-so-shocking racism got Roseanne canceled

Though Roseanne is an outspoken Trump supporter and the show’s reboot shocked former fans and writers with its conservative slant, Trump did not initially speak out.

But Trump did break his silence on the cancelation. And he’s making it all about him.

Trump being Trump, he took to Twitter to lash out over Roseanne’s cancelation.

“Bob Iger of ABC called Valerie Jarrett to let her know that “ABC does not tolerate comments like those” made by Roseanne Barr.”

We know that Trump jumbles things a lot and it’s easy to be desensitized to that, but it took him all of four words to be wrong about something.

Bob Iger hasn’t been President of ABC since the 1990s. He’s the CEO of Disney, which owns ABC. We’re not splitting hairs; Trump is just showing his age.

“Gee, he never called President Donald J. Trump to apologize for the HORRIBLE statements made and said about me on ABC.”

Please don’t refer to yourself in the third person.

“Maybe I just didn’t get the call?”

Trump Tweet about Roseanne

It’s kind of amazing — though not surprising — that he manages to make the cancelation about him.

Roseanne’s unabashed bigotry cost about 200 people their jobs. Many are hopeful that the series can continue in a spin-off without Roseanne.

But the real issue with Trump’s tweet is that he continues to misunderstand the difference between absolutely depraved, indecent racism and … saying unkind things.

It’s like how n Thursday morning, some conservatives took to Twitter to attempt to raise a fuss about comedian and host Samantha Bee, who said unkind things about Ivanka Trump.

Whatever you may think about Ivanka, there is a difference between saying something that might hurt someone’s feelings and, say, using classic racist insults.

You can absolutely say unkind things about someone — even if those things are unfair.

But when we’re talking about Trump, his complaints about ABC News are basically just that they report the things that he says and does.

That’s not even an insult — that’s their job.

Roseanne was not just a Trump-supporter personally. The show’s reboot turned the original series on its head, politically speaking.

Many saw the reboot of Roseanne as almost a surrogate for Trump on television.

While many may have tuned into the pilot out of curiosity or nostalgia, others tuned in explicitly because they wanted a Trump-friendly sitcom.

(Many shows have, of course, integrated or acknowledged Trump in some way, but this is usually negative. Black Lightning has a villain say “make America great again” explicitly, while other shows like Star Trek: Discovery have subtler references to the ominous slogan)

Trump himself said that he called Roseanne Barr to congratulate her on her show’s pilot’s success.

After 18 million viewers turned out, the show was immediately renewed for another season.

Until Roseanne ruined it.

Of course, as many have pointed out, Roseanne has a history of making awful statements.

Prior to comparing Valerie Jarrett to an ape, she accused George Soros, who is both Jewish and was a child during World War II, of having been a Nazi collaborator.

Roseanne has also, through her social media activity, suggested that she believes that Trump is carrying out secret arrests of Illuminati pedophile rings by using secret courts.

She also combines her bigotry and conspiracy theories, saying things about “Jewish mind control.”

Critics say that ABC allowed to Roseanne reboot in the first place as a cynical ploy to attract viewers from Trump’s base, who would watch the series out of spite if nothing else.

Some even wonder if FOX canceling a number of shows with good racial and LGBT+ representation but renewing the canceled Last Man Standing was their attempt to get a piece of the “deplorable” viewership pie.

Roseanne was perhaps canceled because ABC’s leadership has certain lines that they are unwilling to cross.

But given that she was given a show to begin with — and had made similar comments about other former members of the Obama administration — many people have noted that it was the outcry that got the show canceled.

Sponsors notice outcry on social media. Networks take notice when sponsors pull out of a show.

Did Trump take her cancelation as a personal attack? Possibly.

It remains to be seen — and will not be seen until November of 2020 — whether enough of the American people will hold Trump to the same standards to which ABC held Roseanne Barr.

The Biggest Loser: Legal Documents Confirm Show"s Cancellation!

The Biggest Loser was a show that helped contestants lose weight through various exercises and a healthier diet.

However, the show has been inundated with scandal allegations over the course of its seventeen season run, but one of those sticks out more than others and has resulted in the series’ cancellation.

We recently reported that multiple media reports claimed the show is over after it emerged that contestants were apparently urged to take diet pills and Adderall

Various former contestants have come forward to allege that Dr. Huizenga and trainer Bob Harper were the ones orchestrating all of the drama in the hopes of the contestants losing more weight.

Former contestant, Joelle Gwynn turned to the New York Post last year to reveal that she was told to participate in dangerous exercises and pop pills.

Adderall is a drug used to treat ADHD, but it’s also a very well known appetite suppressant. So, the contestants were allegedly eating less than they should have been.

Gwynn told the newspaper last year:

“People chastise Bill Cosby for allegedly offering meds to women, but it’s acceptable to do to fat people to make them lose weight.”

“I feel like we got raped, too.”

When the report emerged, Dr. Huizenga clapped back at Gwynn with a lawsuit he filed against her. He is claiming that Gwynn’s story is “fabricated, fictitious and outright libelous.”

He said that he only promotes “safe and effective weight loss methods.”

“Ms. Gwynn’s outrageous accusations, which resulted in the cancellation of ‘The Biggest Loser’ and Dr. Huizenga losing two other opportunities on television, are particularly egregious given Dr. Huizenga’s strict life-long anti-drug beliefs and strict anti-drug policy on ‘The Biggest Loser,’ where he did not even permit contestants to take legal, over-the-counter caffeine pills or drink more than one cup of coffee, much less illegal drugs,” the court papers state.

It’s not uncommon for reality TV shows to be hit with claims of things being manipulated, and if this is the case, the show will likely never return to the air again.

Earlier this year, six former contestants took to The Big Fat Truth to discuss the fact that they gained all of their weight back after they left the show.

Is there a chance they were more disciplined while in front of the cameras, or could the above claims have anything to do with it?

We don’t know for sure, but we do know for sure that the series will not be airing on NBC again.

The Real Housewives of New York: Close to Cancellation?!?

Could The Real Housewives of New York City Season 9 signal the end of the popular Bravo reality series?

If Radar is to be believed, then probably

“They have been filming for weeks and still have no show,” the source said.

“It is starting to feel like a disaster.”

Apparently, the issue with the stars of the series. They’re not as dramatic as they once were and are not giving enough material to create a solid narrative.

“The problem is that no one except Countess LuAnn has a storyline,” the source said.

“Bethenny’s divorce has been going on so long that it is no longer interesting. Carole’s book with her boyfriend looks like it’s never going to get published, and Sonja is still talking about launching a Tipsy Girl cocktail.”

Now, it’s pretty crazy to rule the season a disaster when you consider that crazy trailer that was released just over a week ago.

The trailer (below)  included the introduction of Tinsley Mortimer and Bethenny Frankel apologizing to Tom D’Agostino for comments she made.

A few scenes later, Frankel was wailing at LuAnn De Lesseps because she felt she was making a mistake for marrying Tom.

Turns out, Bethenny is not the only one who is in the know about Tom’s past, but will it become the main attraction on the season?

Quite possibly, but don’t expect the wedding to be featured on the show.

“The only story that they have is LuAnn’s big wedding, and she didn’t allow the show’s cameras inside to film it,” the source continued to tell Radar.

It’s a huge blow not to have one of the biggest storylines featured heavily, but Radar has been known to exaggerate in the past.

Ratings for the series may be down, but the show still rates solidly enough to continue for more seasons.

If the housewives do become boring, that’s something the producers will take into consideration when preparations get underway for Season 10.

The very notion that the series is close to cancellation is hilarious is pretty hilarious because it’s simply not true.

The series returns in April for what is sure to be a season filled with drama.

What do you think about all of this?

T.I. & Tiny: Divorce Drama Saves show from Cancellation!

VH1 is not quite ready to let go of T.I. & Tiny: The Family Hustle

Apparently, the network met with the producers with the intention of canceling the show, but the producers pretty much sold their soul to get the show back on the air.

Kidding aside, the network’s 180 was down to the fact the producers promised the show would be filled with a lot of drama now that T.I and Tiny are divorcing.

In December, Tiny filed for divorce from T.I. after six years of marriage. Viewers were not impressed that it was foreshadowed by the couple filming most of Season 5 separately.

We are now hearing that part of the deal included the couple shooting more scenes together. That is not entirely a bad thing.

Viewers love to watch the drama unfold on reality TV so that could result in increased ratings for the show. The show has never reached the mass appeal or recognition of the Love & Hip Hop franchise.

Apparently, Tiny is in no rush to finalize the divorce, so this could be the proof VH1 needed that there is going to be a lot of drama ahead for the pair.

It’s unclear whether the new season will continue to go for bigger episode orders, or if the network opted for a shorter order to judge how audiences react to the new dynamics.

T.I. and Tiny kicked off their relationship way back in 2001. They got married in 2010 and have three children together.

The pair will be ecstatic about the renewal.

The show will help keep both of them in the public eye, and they will probably get a lot more recognition now that they’re going the divorce route.

Hey, they need to do something to keep them being talked about.

What do you think about all of this?

Sister Wives: Facing Cancellation! Robyn Threatens To Leave Kody!

Kody Brown has outdone himself.

Not only is he reportedly searching for two new wives to add to his family, but he’s also said to be low on finances.

Naturally, this sort of thing happens when you have four wives and eighteen children.

Former family friend Kendra Pollard-Parra told Life & Style that as soon as Sister Wives season finale aired in June, Brown was on the hunt.

This infuriates his legal wife, Robyn, with whom he has two children.

Brown’s other “spiritual” wives, Christine, Meri and Janelle, are past the point of caring, and two have allegedly already started dating.

“If he takes on new wives, she said she’ll leave,” Pollard told the tabloid. “This isn’t what she signed up for.”

It’s believed that Brown is so desperate to keep making money following the success of the TLC series.

However, the show does not have a premiere date for season eight, which has fans thinking that if the show ends, so will Brown’s marriages.

“It’s unfortunate, but I can guarantee you that you’re going to see wives leave,” Pollard-Parra said.

“Kody’s life is flipping upside down.”

Back in April, Pollard-Parra claimed that Brown approached her to become his fifth wife.

“The first time he met me he said, ‘You’re so pretty. I’m looking for another wife!’ Robyn was laughing, but I was like, ‘Eww!’” she told Life & Style.

Pollard-Parra believes that Brown will swap out one of his spiritual ball-and-chains for a newbie.

“He’ll most likely drop one of the other wives,” she claimed.

This, combined with the show’s popularity and Meri’s catfish scandal have created a rift between everyone.

“It’s worse than ever. The family is arguing constantly,” Pollard-Parra said.

“They pretend to be happy for the show, but the family is a mess.”

Brown doesn’t seem to care that his wives are unhappy.

“Kody’s main goal is to keep the series going and to make money. He’s a snake,” Pollard-Parra added.

And perhaps to keep ratings up, Brown’s hunt for a pretty young thing is worse than ever.

He’s “definitely seeking another wife right now,” Pollard-Parra revealed.

“He wants a younger female, basically what Robyn used to be.”

Jill & Jessa Duggar: Could Orlando Shooting Comments Lead to Cancellation?!

Ever since the world learned of the largest mass shooting in U.S. history on Saturday night, countless public figures have shared their grief and offered condolences to the families of those killed in the tragedy inside Pulse nightclub in Orlando.

Reality star Jessa Duggar and her husband, Ben Seewald, were among the celebrities who attempted to share comforting words with the victims’ loved ones…

Unfortunately, in Jessa and Ben’s case, those words came from infamous anti-gay leader Albert Mohler

In case you missed it, Mohler is the president of the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky.

He’s best known for encouraging all Christians to boycott the weddings of their LGBTQ friends and family.

Naturally, Jessa didn’t mention any of this when she posted this meme:

Along with a caption from of a quote from Mohler, reading:

“This is when we show that Christians mourn with those who mourn. May the Gospel of Jesus Christ be evident as the only power greater than a broken heart.”

Many fans were quick to point out that a quote from a man who has repeatedly and publicly condemned the gay community as a cesspool of sin and encouraged those with LGBTQ friends and family to cut ties is not the best response to a gunman killing dozens of patrons of a gay nightclub.

Given that Jessa’s reality show, Jill & Jessa: Counting On, was already facing cancellation, many believe this may be the final straw for TLC execs.

While the show has consistently received decent ratings, several advertisers have pulled their support as a result of lingering controversy over the Josh Duggar sex scandals.

TLC has not yet announced that the show has been renewed for a second season, which has led many to speculate that they’ve quietly given Counting On the axe.

However, recent activity in the network’s promotion department has resulted in rumors that the Duggars have been renewed, and the network is just waiting for a relatively controversy-free period to make the announcement.

Will this latest dust-up result in a change of heart? Only time will tell, but right now, the future is not looking bright for Jessa and her older sister/co-star.

Duggar Family Faces Cancellation AGAIN As Counting On Loses Viewers, Advertisers

After a scandal-plagued hiatus, the Duggar family returned to television back in December of 2015 with Jill & Jessa: Counting On, a three-part miniseries that proved to be an instant ratings hit for TLC.

Unfortunately, when they ordered a full season of the show, network execs failed to consider the possibility that for many viewers, a little bit of the Duggars goes a long way…

In Touch is reporting today that ratings for the series have declined more than 30 percent in the month since its March 15 premiere.

Even worse, major corporations have been pulling their ads from Counting On, often issuing scathing public statements in order to distance themselves from a family that for many people will always be associated with childhood sexual abuse.

The latest companies to add their name to the long list of anti-Duggar brands are Dole Packaged Foods and Intuit – the software designer best known for its Quicken and Turbo Tax programs.

Both companies issued statements clarifying that their ads were placed as part of a large media buy, and they were not aware that the commercials would air during Counting On.

Dole added: “The company does not run advertising on shows with content that might be offensive to our consumers.”

Several industry insiders have predicted that TLC will air remaining episodes of the series, but will not renew it for a second season.

So if you’re a fan of the Duggars, you may want to watch Jill & Jessa: Counting On online while you still can.

Jill & Jessa Duggar: Facing Cancellation Due to Angry Advertisers?

Last week, we reported that a number of prominent corporations want nothing to do with the Duggar family, and they made their feelings known by severing ties with TLC after learning that the network aired their commercials during episodes of Jill & Jessa: Counting On.

According to In Touch, fifteen more advertisers demanded that their ads not be aired during Counting On just in the past few days, with several companies issuing statements assuring the public that they do not endorse the Duggars or TLC’s decision to bring the family back to television:

Cici’s Pizza: “Cici’s prides itself on being a family-friendly restaurant…When we learned one of our ads was placed adjacent to controversial programming, we took immediate action to stop it.”

The UPS Store:  “It was not our intention to advertise on the program. This specific program is [now] on our list of exclusions as well as any other potential Duggar programming.”

Choice Hotels: “We are not a sponsor or an advertiser on any TV shows or specials about the Duggars,” Choice Hotels says. “If any ads run, it is an error of the network as our advertising agency has directed them to remove our advertising from the show.”

Verizon Wireless: “We did not have control over where the advertisement ran. We never intended to advertise on the program or on TLC.”

As you may remember, it was a lack of advertisers that eventually forced TLC to cancel 19 Kids and Counting in July of last year, after several months of quietly hoping that the Josh Duggar sex scandals would blow over.

In other words, if you’re a fan of the show, you may want to watch Jill & Jessa: Counting On online while you still can.

Ian Somerhalder: It"s Nina Dobrev"s Fault The Vampire Diaries Faces Cancellation!

The Vampire Diaries has enjoyed a successful run thus far, but with the departure of a main character, that success is waning.

Season six saw the departure of one of the show’s main characters, Elena, played by Nina Dobrev.  Her reason for leaving was to pursue film opportunities.

“I always knew I wanted Elena’s story to be a six season adventure, and within those six years I got the journey of a lifetime,” Dobrev told fans via Instagram in 2015.

Season seven of the CW series was moved to Fridays, perhaps one of the worst days of the week for a show to air (with the exception of a few).  Since it’s season premiere, ratings have fallen, and rumor has it that Dobrev’s ex-boyfriend, Ian Somerhalder is not happy.

Celebrity Dirty Laundry reports that Somerhalder blames his ex for the dip in ratings, and it’s speculated that Dobrev left the show because she didn’t want to be around Somerhalder and his wife, Nikki Reed (the couple married last April).

Reed reportedly moved to Georgia while Somerhalder filmed TVD, which made for some awkward interactions on set (again, this is speculation).

Dobrev, however, addressed the rumors that she had bad blood with the couple last May.

“When I heard about the wedding, I thought it was beautiful,” Dobrev told E! News of her ex and Reed.

“They look happy and I am happy and so I don’t see why there should be a problem with that. The drama is in the media, it’s not with us. But of course, we’re on a teen drama show, everyone’s going to look for drama.

“If there’s no drama, there’s nothing to write about. I just ignore it.”

The show hasn’t commented anything in regards to ratings, a series finale and whether or not Dobrev will return to mark the end of the show that put her on the map.
