Jeremy Piven dropped some cuss words last week in front of what might have been the wrong crowd, but some guests say it certainly wasn’t as shocking as it’s been made out to be. Piven hosted a fundraising gala this past weekend for…

Jenelle Evans: I"m Actually Going to Quit Teen Mom 2, Dude, I Swear to God!
Jenelle Evans knows how to throw a fit.
If there"s one thing in this whole entire world she knows, it"s that.
Well, it"s that or proper bong maintenance.
Yep, Jenelle can throw a fit like it"s her job, because in a way, it is. She"s definitely brought the drama during her many years on Teen Mom 2, and we"re all so thankful for that.
Unfortunately, all good things must come to an end, and while her brand of drama was never exactly good, we can probably all agree that it"s gotten uncomfortably terrible at this point.
So it might actually be for the best that all signs are pointing to Jenelle being done with MTV.
For real this time.
1. Where to Begin?
2. As Always, Poor Kaiser
3. Here We Go
4. Too Sad
5. Go, Doris!

Lindsay Lohan: I"m Normal and Nice Now! I Swear!
Once America’s favorite troubled teen, treated with scorn and sexism, Lindsay Lohan is now our greatest export and is in a better place than ever before.
So teases the sub-headline of a New York Times profile of Lohan, who was actually once a very famous singer and actress.
It’s true!
That was eons ago, of course, as Lohan has been known far more for many years as someone who drives drunks; writes poems to ISIS; and yearns for Mean Girls 2 to get made so she can be hired again.
In this New York Times profile, however, Lohan swears she’s a new and improved person.
She’s living far away from the spotlight in Dubai, she explains, and loving every milisecond of it.
“I’m a normal, nice person. A good person. I don’t have any bad intentions. And my past has to stay in the past,” Lohan says, adding for emphasis:
“Like, people have to just let go of it and stop bringing it up because it’s not – it’s gone. It’s dead. And that’s the most important thing to me.”
It certainly is accurate that Lohan hasn’t gotten into trouble in a very long time.
She hasn’t been relevant, either.
She could have been arrested six times in March and would anyone really have noticed?
But Lindsay says this hasn’t been the case at all, and that she’s content just sitting back and overseeing the Lohan Beach House on Mykonos.
“There’s a business side to my life now,” she tells the Times, proving as much by demanding extra money for the photo shoot that accompanied this article.
The actress-turned-entrepreneur says Dubai is “the safest place” for her.
It actually doesn’t allow paparazzi-type folks to snap random pictures, so she likely has a point there.
“It’s less demanding. America is always like, ‘Go go go go go!’ I don’t have to turn on the news and see about the Kardashians,” Lohan adds, taking a swipe at a frequent foe and adding:
“I don’t have to see anything anymore. I choose what I want to see and how I want to live.”
Apparently Tiffany Trump will be visiting Lohan in Greece next month, which led to a question about her Presidential father and Lindsay’s take on politics.
“Here’s the thing: very simple with politics,” she said. “He’s the president. No matter what anyone says, he’s still the president. I have no feeling. I have no emotion.”
Okay, fine.
But what about her mother and father, both of whom she’s feuded with hard in the past?
“I’m not in control of my family,” she says. “I’m only in control of myself. We’re all friends. My mom and dad are friends, everyone’s good.”
About two years ago, Lohan was the victim of domestic violence, claiming at the time that boyfriend Egor Tarabasov strangled her and tried to kill her.
From that point on, she says, Lohan has vowed to take back control of her life.
“I think success is the best revenge – and silence, as a presence,” she explains, concluding of the aforementioned awful incident:
“It happened, here in Mykonos, on the beach. And that was the moment where I switched and I was like, ‘I’m going to take control of my life completely, and fire everyone and just rehire them when I’m ready.’
“And that’s why I’m here today, because it was on that beach where I got hit. I said, ‘You know what? If there’s anything I can do, I’m going to get that beach.
“It’s going to be my beach.”

Stassi Schroeder: I Swear I"m Not as Racist As I Seem!
It"s been a tough season for just about everyone on Vanderpump Rules, but it"s possible that no one has had such a rough go of it as Stassi Schroeder.
We know what you"re thinking – Brittany Cartwright got cheated on, and Lala Kent got screamed at about pasta, but Stassi has been pelted with criticism for a week straight now, and it must be getting really old.
To be clear: Stassi deserves almost all of the trash-talk that"s come her way, and she"s guilty of many, many counts of being a clueless dumbass.
We"re just saying that being repeatedly roasted by thousands of strangers on Twitter is worse than having James Kennedy drunkenly shout at you about tortellini.
Schroeder"s current streak of genuinely WTF?! behavior began when she posted a photo of herself sporting a "Nazi chic" look on Instagram.
It continued when Ariana Madix called her out as a racist on a recent episode of Vanderpump.
Since then, Stassi has been running damage control, but she"s learning the hard lesson that the internet doesn"t forgive or forget anything in 2018.
Earlier this week, she appeared on Andy Cohen"s Watch What Happens Live and as a reminder that call-in shows are designed for maximum awkwardness, one viewer asked bluntly, "Why are you such a racist?"
"Obviously I"m not, and it"s a frustrating thing that I feel like I have to deal with, but no, I don"t have to deal with it, meaning I"m not a victim in any way of what I"ve said," Stassi replied.
"I say things that I don"t realize will hurt people"s feelings sometimes, but I think my actions speak louder than the stupid comments that I make sometimes. And I"m learning how to be better."
A good response – but we think Stassi still has a long way to go before she finds the forgiveness she"s seeking.

Olivia Munn Texts Anna Faris: I"m Not Dating Chris Pratt! I Swear!
A couple of weeks ago, a report came out that Olivia Munn and Chris Pratt are dating. Both stars had plenty of time to confirm-or-deny, yet seemed content to stay quiet.
Until now. Olivia Munn tweeted out not one response, but several. In list form.
Also, Olivia took it upon herself to text Anna Faris about it. And she’s sharing that conversation with the world.
So, if rumor is to be believed, Chris Pratt and Olivia Munn are dating.
It makes sense. They’re both beautiful.
Both recently split from their famous exes
Last April, Olivia Munn split from Aaron Rodgers after three years together.
Almost exactly four months later, Chris Pratt and Anna Faris separated. Because love is dead, that’s why.
More to the point, they’re both close friends who’ve been spending a lot of time together.
Per the report of their relationship, it began with that friendship after they had both had their breakups, and then grow into something more.
But Olivia Munn took to Twitter to respond to some of these reports. In list form.
“1. Not every woman is scorned and upset after a breakup.”
That’s true. Many rumors suggested that Anna Faris was embittered.
“2. Not every woman is ‘furious’ at another woman for dating her ex.”
Also true. And we kind of get the feeling that Olivia Munn is more bothered by rumors that she’s feuding with Anna than she is by the dating rumors.
“3. So even if I [were] dating @prattprattpratt, some tabloids got me and @annafaris all wrong.”
“4. Women respect and love each other a lot more than some people like to think.”
True! The sooner that people get past the mindset that woman are automatically rivals or “dramatic,” the better.
“5. Chris and I would have a horrible celebrity name. Crolivia. Prunn. Chrisivia. Olipratt.”
She’s … really got a point. I can think of some fusion names better than that, but they’re still not great.
Note how nothing on that list actually confirmed or denied that the two of them are banging each other’s brains out.
However, Olivia Munn did respond to those questions … but texting Anna Faris.
How do we know this? Because she included a screenshot of her conversation.
Olivia texted:
“Sooo… I would never respond to random tabloid stories, but since we know each other I wanted to reach out to you personally to tell you the story about me and Chris dating has 0% truth.”
She also added:
“I’m sure you already know it’s not true, or maybe you didn’t care either way, but I just wanted to reach out personally to tell you it’s not true.”
And the screenshot reveals Anna Faris’ response.
“Hi!!!! Oh my god-this town is so f–king crazy. You are so sweet to text.”
Hey, even well outside of Hollywood, this kind of situation would attract attention. Let’s not blame this on geography.
“I love you. Having said that if you were my new sister in law I would be thrilled! -lets please catch up soon”
While we’re not sure that we’ve ever heard someone’s ex-husband’s new girlfriend referred to as a sister-in-law before, we think that everybody gets the idea.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle: ENGAGED! For Real! We Swear!
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are engaged to be married.
This is not a drill. This is not mere speculation. This is not an unconfirmed piece of gossip from yet another supermarket tabloid.
This is really happening:
PRINCE HARRY AND MEGHAN MARKLE ARE ENGAGED TO BE MARRIED!!!!!!!!!!!
“His Royal Highness and Ms. Markle became engaged in London earlier this month,” Clarence House has said in an official statement, adding:
“Prince Harry has informed Her Majesty The Queen and other close members of his family.
Prince Harry has also sought and received the blessing of Ms. Markle’s parents.”
According to Clarence House, “the couple will live in Nottingham Cottage at Kensington Palace.”
But that’s not all…
Clarence House also confirms the wedding will take place in the spring of 2018.
That’s just a few months away!
Look for the event to be the most publicized and scrutinized royal nuptials since Prince William exchanged vows with Kate Middleton in 2011.
This will also the first time a direct heir to the throne has been set to wed an American citizen since King Edward III abdicated to marry Wallis Simpson in 1937.
(For the record: Harry is fifth in line to rule England, behind his father, Prince Charles; William; and William and Kate’s children, Prince George and Princess Charlotte.)
In a statement, Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip said they were “delighted for the couple and wish them every happiness.”
As you can see below, rumors of a proposal have been floating around the celebrity gossip universe for months.
There’s been specific talk, for instance, of how Harry would present Markle with a very special ring that has a connection to his late mother.
But no details regarding the rock have been made public yet.
“We are very excited for Harry and Meghan,” said Prince William and Middleton through Kensington Palace.
“It has been wonderful getting to know Meghan and to see how happy she and Harry are together.”
Markle’s parents, Thomas and Doria, also issued a statement.
It reads as follows:
“We are incredibly happy for Meghan and Harry.
“Our daughter has always been a kind and loving person. To see her union with Harry, who shares the same qualities, is a source of great joy for us as parents.
“We wish them a lifetime of happiness and are very excited for their future together.”
The famous couple met in in the spring of 2016 at a charity event, although Markle explained to Vanity Fair that they “were very quietly dating for about six months before it became news.”
Aside from this interview, neither Harry nor his bride-to-be have talked much about the romance with the outside world.
But chatter has been swirling around them since they fell in love.
We know, for example, that Markle will quit her work on Suits in order to live full-time in London as a Royal.
We’ve also heard, upon their union, that Prince Harry will be made the Duke of Sussex.
This distinction would make Meghan the Duchess of Sussex, mirroring Kate’s title of the Duchess of Cambridge.
How exciting!
Please join us in sending Harry and Meghan your very best wishes.
And strap in, folks: The craziness surrounding this couple is only just beginning!

Nelly: I"m Innocent, I Swear I Never Raped Anyone!
Time has not been kind to Nelly.
And, if we’re to believe recent accusations against him, Nelly has not been kind to others in return.
Early yesterday morning, he was arrested for allegedly raping a woman on his tour bus.
He’s currently on tour with Florida Georgia Line, and the arrest happened a few hours after a show in Washington on Friday night.
According to a statement from local police, a woman called 911 at nearly 4:00 AM and reported that Nelly had sexually assaulted her.
After officers arrived on the scene and did some investigating, there was apparently enough evidence to make an arrest, and Nelly was taken into custody.
There wasn’t enough evidence to hold him though, and a few hours later he was released.
His lawyer then made a statement saying that “Nelly is the victim of a completely fabricated allegation.”
“Our initial investigation,” he explained, “clearly establishes the allegation is devoid of credibility and is motivated by greed and vindictiveness.”
“I am confident, once the scurrilous accusation is thoroughly investigated, there will be no charges.”
The lawyer added that “Nelly is prepared to pursue all legal avenues to redress any damage caused by this clearly false allegation.”
So far it’s obviously a pretty serious case of he-said, she-said, right?
But now Nelly is speaking on his own behalf.
Shortly after the news broke of his arrest, he hopped on Twitter to defend himself.
“Let me say that I am beyond shocked that I have been targeted with this false allegation,” he began. “I am completely innocent.”
“I am confident that once the facts are looked at, it will be very clear that I am the victim of a false allegation.”
“I do want to apologize to my loved ones for the embarrassment and for putting myself in a situation where I could be victimized by this false and defaming allegation,” he wrote.
Nelly also thought it was important “to thank my fans for their unwavering support.”
“They know me,” he said. “I assure you I will be vindicated. And I assure you, I will pursue every legal option to address this defaming claim.”
“Thank you.”
And just in case you didn’t follow that statement his lawyer wrote for him, he added “In other words y’all know damm well I ain’t do no dumm S^*t like this..!! Love ..!!!!”
About an hour after making those tweets, he logged back on to clear up an extra bit of confusion.
“To be absolutely clear,” he wrote, “I have not been charged with a crime therefore no bail was required. I was released, pending further investigation.”
At this point, it’s hard to say who’s telling the truth.
Nelly and his team could be right, this woman could have made up this whole story.
But then again, Nelly could be doing his best to cover up his crimes — let’s be real, it’s not exactly unprecedented for a celebrity to use his fame as a way to prey on women like this.
Guess we’ll just have to wait and see how this plays out.

Amy Roloff: Look! I Really Do Love My Granddaughter! I Swear!
Amy Roloff would like to set the record straight.
The Little People, Big World star has found herself at the center of an unexpected controversy after she took a road trip with her boyfriend right around the time her daughter-in-law was due to give birth.
Many fans couldn’t believe it.
They didn’t understand how Amy could risk not being nearby when her second grandchild entered the world.
From there, Instagram followers took issue with Roloff after Ember Jean was born to Audrey and Jeremy Roloff…
… and yet instead of sharing precious baby photos, Amy chose instead to shill for various products online.
Of course, we now know that Audrey has been suffering from some postpartum depression and that she and Jeremy have chosen to keep their private lives mostly private until they adjust to life as a new parents.
In other words:
Of course Amy Roloff hasn’t purposely been withholding photos of Ember.
Of course she loves the latest newborn in her family.
But with questions (somehow) being raised over this fact, Amy has taken to Instagram in order to make her feelings known.
“I’m over the moon the 2nd time as a grandma. I’m thrilled seeing and visiting with my granddaughter Ember Jean (Jer and Auj daughter),” Amy wrote as a caption to the first photo shared above.
“She is so precious and beautiful. Can’t wait to post a picture or two of her soon,” she added.
That aforementioned photo, of course, is of Jackson, Tori and Zach’s four-month old son.
Amy has shared it because she’s showing respect for Audrey and Jeremy during their transition.
“In the meantime Jackson is growing up so fast,” she also wrote as a caption.
“Love his smile and laugh and wanting to grab everything. He came over to wish Grandma Amy a Happy Birthday the other day.
“#secondact #grandmaamy #grandkidsareablessing #godisgoodalway.”
We can’t wait to meet Ember, of course.
We’re excited to see as many pictures of her as possible. HOWEVER…
“While I am overflowing with love for my daughter and husband, I won’t sugar coat it… these past two weeks have been HARD,” Audrey admitted on Instagram this week.
“I was well prepared for the pain and suffering that comes with childbirth, but I was not prepared for the pain and suffering that comes afterwards,” she added.
We totally get it. We totally understand. We totally hope Audrey takes all the time she needs to heal up, both mentally and physically.
Until then, hey…we’ll settle for more Jackson Kyle pics!
The kid is a cutie patootie!

Lady Gaga: I Swear, I"m Not Faking My Disease!
It’s been a rough few months for Lady Gaga.
And, as we’re continuing to learn, it doesn’t look like things are going to get easier anytime soon.
As she revealed last week, she’s been suffering from fibromyalgia, a disorder that causes chronic pain and tiredness.
There are other symptoms, and we don’t know all the symptoms Gaga is suffering from, but she’s made it clear that, at the very least, she’s in severe pain.
And that kind of pain doesn’t really work for a woman whose job involves strutting around for hours onstage, usually in ridiculously high heels.
That’s why she had to announce earlier this week that she wouldn’t be able to perform at Rock in Rio — because she is “suffering from severe physical pain.”
Along with that announcement, she shared a photo of herself in a hospital bed with an IV in her arm.
She explained that she was “devastated” that she wouldn’t be able to perform, but “I have to take care of my body right now.”
Pretty sad, right?
But it looks like things are just getting worse for her.
Yesterday, Lady Gaga announced that she is canceling the entire European leg of her world tour.
From September 21st to October 28th, she was scheduled to roam around the continent, performing for her fans, but now that’s been pushed back to “early 2018.”
Again, the announcement stated that Gaga is “devastated” at this turn of events, but her health is preventing her from touring.
Along with the official announcement, she included a much more personal message.
“I have always been honest about my physical and mental health struggles,” she wrote. “Searching for years to get to the bottom of them.”
“It is complicated and difficult to explain, and we are trying to figure it out.”
“As I get stronger and when I feel ready,” she explained, “I will tell my story in more depth, and plan to take this on strongly so I can not only raise awareness, but expand research for others who suffer as I do, so I can help make a difference.”
She said that she doesn’t throw around that “suffer” word to get pity or attention, and that she’s been “disappointed to see people online suggest that I’m being dramatic, making this up, or playing the victim to get out of touring.”
“If you knew me, you would know this couldn’t be further from the truth. I’m a fighter.”
Our beloved Lady Gaga wrote “I use the word suffer not only because trauma and chronic pain have changed my life, but because they are keeping me from living a normal life.”
“They are also keeping me from what I love the most in the world: performing for my fans.”
She concluded her message by saying that she can’t wait to tour again, “but I have to be with my doctors right now so I can be strong and perform for you all for the next 60 years or more. I love you so much.”
What a gem.
And she definitely has a point — even if you’ve only kept an eye on her over the years, you’d know how seriously she takes touring.
She’s always been very close with her fans, and she’s always put on incredible shows, so to accuse her of faking an illness so that she wouldn’t have to go on tour is honestly pretty dumb.
Dumb, and also very insulting.
We know she’s a hard worker, we know she genuinely loves music, and there’s no literally no reason to believe that she’d lie about something this serious for any reason at all.
Come on now, people.

Scott Disick: I"m Not a Sex Addict, I Swear!
Scott Disick is, to be honest, a complete and total mess right now.
Since the beginning of this year, he’s been on a seriously scary downward spiral — one that apparently has friends concerned that he’s on the verge of killing himself.
Killing himself with booze, to be specific.
From where we’re sitting — and things could have happened differently privately, of course — the issue began back in January on the Kardashian family vacation to Costa Rica.
Before that, we’d been hearing rumors that Scott and Kourtney Kardashian may have been rekindling their romance, but for some reason, he brought along another girl for the vacation.
He tried to hide the girl in his hotel room, but Kim Kardashian found out about it, and she went off on Scott, calling him a whore and all sorts of other bad names.
He left the vacation early and went to Miami, where he was photographed with multiple women and multiple adult beverages.
And things just sort of went from there.
Scott’s been seen with countless hookups since then, including Bella Thorne, and it’s clear that he’s just not in a good place.
He’s been open about his issues with alcoholism in the past, and in response to the Costa Rica incident, he even confessed that he’s a sex addict.
But in a new interview with E! News, he’s trying to spin things in a more positive light.
“I would say I think it’s a little rude that everybody keeps addressing me as a sex addict,” he said. “I just like sex, but I’m not a sex addict.”
“I said that in a humorous, joking fashion on the show and now I’m getting billed as one, and it’s not the case. I do like sex, but I am not an addict.”
He was asked if he thought his appetite for sex was healthy, and he clarified that he does have “a gargantuan appetite,” but still, he’s “not an addict!”
Whatever you say, Scott. We’re sure all single fathers of three young children behave this way.
Oddly enough, when asked about his love life, he said “I just try to live and be decently happy … no girlfriends or anything like that.”
No girlfriends, just a never-ending string of hookups, right?
He also seemed to confirm Bella Thorne’s statement that she was never intimate with him by explaining that “We have nothing to do with each other romantically.”
As for Kourtney, he said “We love spending time together and with the kids. That’s never been a question.”
“I feel like sometimes the outside perspective thinks that maybe we are not on good terms, but we are. We stay strong for our three children, and that’s pretty much all we can do.”
He sounds good in this interview, but then again he’s never been one to be sloppy in interviews.
He usually saves it for paparazzi and Keeping Up with the Kardashians cameras.
Just … just do better, OK, Scott?

Briana DeJesus on Teen Mom 2 Cast: They All Love Me! I Swear!
If you watch Teen Mom 2 online, then you’ve probably caught wind of the relatively major shakeup that’s in store for the show’s eighth season.
Despite the fact that the show certainly wasn’t lacking in the drama department, former Teen Mom 3 star Briana DeJesus will be joining the cast in order to liven up the proceedings.
The news was met with mixed reactions from both fans and existing cast members, several of whom reportedly felt that Briana’s presence would mean less screen time to go around.
In fact, there have been rumors that much of the cast is flat-out pissed that DeJesus is joining the show, and it’s not just because they fear that their own storylines will be scaled back.
At least one cast member (Jenelle Evans, of course) has exchanged shots with Briana on social media and seems to have no qualms about revealing her distaste for her new co-star.
The Jenelle vs. Briana feud got nasty at one point, but the tweets have been deleted, and it looks as though the ladies may have made up.
These days, to hear Briana tell it, the whole business about any of the ladies objecting to her joining the show was straight-up fake news.
We’ll leave it to you to decide if her comments have been scripted by TM2 producers:
“I’ve spoken with most of the girls on the show. They’re excited to have me on. All those rumors going around the internet are completely false, none of us are beefing,” Briana said in a recent interview with Us Weekly.
“Of course, it might be hard for me to come into this new group of moms because I’m the newbie, so I can understand their feelings and if they’re concerned about me coming on, but I just want to help these girls and help the girls watching us.”
But despite the lack of beef amongst the cast, Briana assured fans there will be plenty of drama, much of it involving her complex relationship with her sister:
“There are a lot of tears, some laughter and you still see the story line from the original where my sister [Brittany] had the abortion and I didn’t,” she said.
“Now you really see how our decisions affected us — the good and bad about both and the different paths we both took.”
And of course, like the just about everyone else on the show, Briana is coping with more than her fair share of baby daddy drama:
“He’s wishy-washy,” she said of daughter’s father, Devoin.
“You don’t know what to expect from him. He’ll come visit for a week straight, then I won’t hear from him for a month.”
Fortunately, it sounds like Briana and Nova are doing just fine on their own:
“Nova is so beautiful. He’s missing out on so much and she’s missing out on a real father figure,” DeJesus told Us.
We get the feeling she and her daughter will fit right in.

Kenny Chesney and Travis Tritt: We Love Beyonce! We Swear!
Two of country music’s biggest superstars have been forced to pledge their allegiances to the biggest superstar of them all.
And now all Kenny Chesney and Travis Tritt can do is pray that the Beyhive is in a forgiving mood.
Let’s start with Chesney and his perceived sin…
The artist was in attendance last Wednesday at the CMA Awards when Beyonce took to the stage alongside The Dixie Chicks fora fun rendition of her hit “Daddy Lessons.”
But camera captured Chesney’s reaction at one point during the performance and… well…
… we’ll let @TheFactsofShade sum it up for us:
“Beyoncé is SLAYING for these white folks… But Keith Chesney doesn’t seem impressed,” wrote that Twitter user.
Check out the following video to see Chesney not exactly getting down with the beat:
Made aware of the criticism coming his way, Chesney actually issued a statement that emphasized his affection for Beyonce:
“I love Beyoncé … I loved her Super Bowl performance, her sense of how to make the music hit really hard – and give it drama when she’s onstage.
“The idea her fans were so quick to judge me, or know what I was thinking, doesn’t feel like the woman I’ve always imagined Beyoncé to be — and honestly, the people who love her music, either.”
Amazing.
Only Beyonce has the power to make a fellow celebrity have to come out with an explanation for actions that appear to be a slight.
And Chesney wasn’t even the only artist forced to do so!
On Thursday, Travis Tritt took to Twitter after a concert in order to both thank his fans… and take a shot at Beyonce’s CMA Awards appearance.
“Thanks to everyone who came out to see us in Bowling Green, KY tonight,” he wrote.
“Sorry we weren’t able to do any Beyoncé for all the country fans. FYI – My band and I are gonna try to work up Beyoncé’s ‘All The Single Ladies’ for all you die hard country fans who love traditional music!”
Added the crooner:
“I want to know when the BET or SoulTrain awards are gonna ask a country artist to perform on their awards show?”
As you might expect, Beyonce fans lashed out at Tritt over these comments.
“Why don’t you do a collaboration with Beyoncé? You might generate more hits,” one user wrote, while another added:
“If you hate pop music influencing country that’s fine. Singling out Beyonce is not. Daddy Lessons actually fits the genre.”
In response to the backlash, Tritt jumped on Twitter again to clarify his initial remarks.
“As I see it, country music has appealed to millions for many years,” he wrote. “We can stand on our own and don’t need pop artists on our awards shows.
“I love honest to God country music and feel the need to stand up for it at all costs. We don’t need pop or rap artists to validate us.”
That’s not an unreasonable point.
The Beyonce appearance, sadly, also generated a lot of hate from racist trolls.
They inundated the official CMA Awards social media sites with so many negative comments that producers gave in at one point and removed references to Beyonce.
Then, a few days later, Donald Trump slammed Beyonce and Jay Z for their lyrics during a concert in support of Hillary Clinton.
Unlike Tritt and Chesney, however, the Presidential candidate may no effort to walk his insults back.
Fortunately, Natalie Maines of The Dixie Chicks summed everything up best.
She tweeted lyrics from Beyoncé’s “Formation” over the weekend, throwing subtle shade at the haters in the process:
“You know you dat Bitch when you cause all this conversation,” she wrote. “Always stay gracious best revenge is your paper.”
AMEN!
