Matt Cappotelli, Former WWE Tough Enough Winner, Dead at 38

Matt Cappotelli, the winner of WWE’s Tough Enough Season 3, lost his brave battle with cancer on Friday morning,

He was 38 years old.

This sad piece of news was confirmed a couple hours ago by Cappotelli’s wife, Lindsay, who wrote in a statement:

“Today my love-my strong, sweet, beautiful love-took his last breath at 3:30 a.m. and went Home to be with Jesus exactly one year after his brain surgery.

“You think you can be prepared for this when you know it’s coming, but you just can’t.

“The only person who’s comfort I want right now is the one who can’t give it to me. I miss him so much. I know where he is now is so much better, but it doesn’t change how much I miss him.”

Cappotelli underwent a second surgery to remove a brain tumor about a year ago, in June of 2017.

This procedure took place a decade after he had another one removed and, as a result, was forced to cut his professional wrestling career short.

Tragically, though, this surgery did not solve the health problem.

In December, Cappotelli was told he had a Grade 4 tumor that was too close to his brain to operate.

He knew his days were numbered after this diagnosis.

Tough Enough, meanwhile, was a reality-type show that the WWE owned and operated.

It pitted a number of aspiring grapplers against each other, with the winner each season earning a WWE contract and a shot at true stardom.

Think American Idol, but for the wrestling world.

After winning Season 3, Cappotelli made multiple appearances on Monday Night Raw and went on work with developing talent in Ohio Valley Wrestling.

However, the Louislve resident retired professionally as a wrestler in 2007 due to these health concerns.

In response to his passing, numerous WWE stars and others who knew Matt well paid him tribute on Twitter.

Matt Cappotelli,

WWE star Kassius Ohno wrote:

“Crushed to hear about the passing of Matt Cappotelli. He was talented, passionate & possessed a heart of GOLD.

“Everyone should fight as hard as Matt fought. Condolences to his friends, family & the countless others he touched on his journey. Rest In Peace Capp.”

And then there was this from Bill DeMott:

“I’m heart broken with the news of the passing of Matt Cappotelli. He is an inspiring young man that touched so many with his smile, his heart, and his faith.

“My love and prayers go out to Matts wife Lindsay and the family. #TeamCapp #RIPMAtt.”

Cappotelli’s passing comes just about a week after WWE legend Vader also passed away.

May Matt Cappotelli rest in peace.

Ben Higgins Breaks Silence on "Tough" Lauren Bushnell Split

In speaking about his recent break-up from Lauren Bushnell, Ben Higgins went ahead this week and channeled his inner Boyz II Men.

Despite constant chatter over the state of his relationship with his chosen suitor, the ex-Bachelor said on a podcast Wednesday that it’s so very hard to say goodbye to yesterday.

In a clip from the podcast obtained by People Magazine, Higgins delved into the end of his romance with Bushnell and explained that both sides simply knew it was time to call it quits.

“Just to be as politically correct as possible but to also be as truthful as possible, Lauren will always be one of my best friends,” said Higgins.

He continued:

“It’s tough.

“It’s hard to say goodbye to somebody that you spent so much time with and it’s hard to say goodbye to somebody that you really did believe was the one for you.”

Just how strongly did Higgins believe Bushnell was the one for him?

He called off the couple’s relationship engagement during an episode of their Freeform reality show last summer.

Higgins made Bushnell cry at the time, but insisted he was still dedicated to her in the long run.

But this is no longer the case.

“I’m sad. I’m a little confused, a little lost, but I’m doing alright,” Higgins told fellow Bachelor alumnus Ashley Iaconetti on the podcast.

Throughout the past few months, the couple had been plagued by breakup rumors.

Where did it all go wrong for Bushnell and Higgins? Why did the end finally arrive?

Bushnell moved to Denver to be with Higgins and many insiders have said she lost her identity in doing so.

She doesn’t really have a job and hasn’t had a direction in life since uprooting everything for her now-ex-fiance.

“I know that they have struggled with the show and then kind of continuing on and doing their reality show and kind of where the show stopped and then where life began,” Chris Harrison told People in his remarks about the split.

Our favorite host human being added:

“They were fighting through a bunch of stuff. But I don’t know. I’ll reach out to them. I’m very sorry to hear that because I do care about them very much.”

What does Higgins have to say about the past several weeks?

“I think, mutually, Lauren and I saw that life was getting more difficult,” he tried to explain on the podcast, expounding as follows:

“I would say the joy that we felt toward our relationship at the beginning was – for some reason – slipping away, and we were both working very hard to bring that joy back.

“And it just never seemed to get there. So it was a long time coming, but it wasn’t necessarily like we dragged it out.”

Here is what Higgins and Bushnell said in a joint statement upon confirming their split:

It is with heavy hearts that we announce our decision to go our separate ways.

We feel fortunate for all the time that we had together, and we will remain friends with much love and respect for one another.

We wish nothing but the best for each other, and ask for your support and understanding at this time.

In conclusion, however, Higgins sees a positive future for both himself and his former lover.

“I believe that Lauren and I both will come out of this with a whole new season that is going to be very good for the both of us,” he said on the podcast.

The Voice Recap: Top 10 Hang Tough, But Who"s in Danger?

The Voice top 10 performers laid it all on the line once again Monday night, and the stakes are high, especially after the last two weeks.

Obviously, every week matters when you’re facing elimination, but after The Voice results last Tuesday, it’s clear that no one is safe.

It’s time to run down all of the performances from the episode.

Jesse Larson

Jesse Larson’s latest performance was a cut above last week’s and boy; it was needed. Singing “Jungle Love” by The time, he made me realize just how much he deserved to be in the competition.

He made the song his own and turned in a rock-solid performance. What more could I ask for?

Aliyah Moulden

Aliyah went with “Jealous” by Labyrinth, and it proved that she had the vocal range to make even a quieter song sound awesome.

All season long, she’s been singing anything that she can shout at, but this showed a completely different side to her.

Vanessa Ferguson

Vanessa opted to sing “Doo Wop” by Lauryn Hill, and it was a return to form for the star. There is absolutely nothing negative I could say about this number.

Mark Isaiah

There was something very off about Mark’s performance tonight. He went with “Sign of the Times” by Harry Styles, and it was just not all that.

The song is not a good one, and the performance suffered. I’m all for people trying to break out of their vocal range, but this was a resounding dud.

Chris Blue

“24K Magic” by Bruno Mars is a great song, and Chris is an excellent sing, so what could go wrong? A lot. Here’s the thing: Chris has a knack for hitting all the notes, but adding in a high-octane dance number meant his voice struggled.

Whether this will signal the end of his time in the competition is another story, but something tells me he may have screwed up.

Lilli Passero

Lilli went with “Unforgettable” by Nat King Cole, and it was a doozy. I’ve been critical of Lilli in the past, but she’s managed to find her groove and is not straying away from that.

More performances like this and I could Lilli on the season finale.

Lauren Duski

The country singer went with “Tell Me Why” by Wynonna Judd, and it was pretty amazing. She effortlessly hit all the notes and kept the audience intrigued.

Hunter Plake

Hunter went with “Higher Love” by Steve Winwood, and it was meh. It was such a shame because he’s been one of the ones to watch, but he’s tailed off over the past few weeks.

He needs to get it back together right about now because two people are leaving the process. Maybe he never got the memo.

TSoul

This competitor went with “At this Moment” by Billy Vera. It was great, with several portions that sounded amazing. He knows his style, and he sticks to it.

Brennley Brown

Brennley has been a frontrunner since the start of the season. Singing “Anyway” by Martina McBride definitely kept that going.

She will be in the final 8.

Who do you think should get the chop?
