There is no right or wrong way to come out as gay.
Announcements do not get much more personal than this.
But Gina, a 16-year old from California, has now raised the coming-out game to creative, impressive, original levels.
Scroll through the following photo gallery to learn how she told her parents about this part of her life…
1. Meet Gina
Gina tells Buzzfeed that she has known about her sexuality for awhile, but did not know how to reveal her homosexuality to her parents or brother.
2. A Plan is Hatched…
“I am not the type of person to have a deep, sit-down conversation, so I wanted to tell them in a lighthearted and fun way,” Gina explained.
3. A-HA!
So Gina went ahead came up with what she referred to as the “perfect” idea: She made a sign saying “I’m gay!” and took it on a trip to Disneyland. She then posed with said sign as she was riding Splash Mountain with her mom.
4. The Reaction?
Gina says her mother saw the picture and then sent it to her dad and brother. She said her family’s reaction was “so positive.”
5. Et Tu, Twitter?
Gina then shared the same photo on Twitter and included the caption above. It has been re-Tweeted over 5,000 times.
6. A Viral Sensation
“I never expected it to blow up like this,” Gina says of the overall reaction. “This Twitter account was just my spam account where I posted random fangirl stuff but I decided it couldn’t hurt to post it and the result was absolutely amazing.”
