Alyssa Milano Destroys Matt Damon Over Sexual Harassment Comments

When it comes to the debate on sexual harassment and misconduct in Hollywood, Alyssa Milano has just made it very clear:

She’s the boss.

The actress – who has been as responsible as anyone for promoting the #MeToo movement and who has been a vocal supporter of every woman who has recently spoken out – took to Twitter on Friday night and straight up owned Matt Damon.

The typically beloved star has been criticized mightily over the past 24 hours.

He spoke to Peter Travers of ABC News this week and made far too many attempts to parse the differences between various acts that have gotten men in trouble of late.

From Al Franken resigning from the Senate for grabbing the butts of women… to Louis CK admitting he masturbated in front of women… to Matt Lauer being fired for alleged rape and other heinous behavior, countless stars have gotten in major trouble for treating women with disrespect.

Asked about this watershed moment in the country, Damon initially told Travers:

“I think it’s great. I think it’s wonderful that women are feeling empowered to tell their stories – and it’s totally necessary.”

But then he kept going, sticking his foot deeper and deeper into his mouth.

“I do believe there’s a spectrum of behavior,” he said, stating the obvious and missing the point of the #MeToo movement.

“There’s a difference between patting someone on the butt and rape or child molestation, right?

“Both of those behaviors need to be confronted and eradicated without question, but they shouldn’t be conflated.”

Minnie Driver, who co-starred with Damon in Good Will Hunting, immediately shook her head over Damon’s comments.

“There are so many men I love who do NOT frame the differentiation between sexual misconduct assault and rape as an excuse or worse- our problem. Such bollocks,” Driver Tweeted.

But Milano went even further.

Focusing especially on Damon’s assertion that men are being punished these days because we live in a “culture of outrage,” the actress took the actor to school.

She also explained why rape and the occasional sexist comment may be different, but they contribute to the same thing.

“Dear Matt Damon, It’s the micro that makes the macro,” Milano wrote to open her response.

milano tweet

Continued Milano:

“We are in a ‘culture of outrage’ because the magnitude of rage is, in fact, overtly outrageous. And it is righteous.

“I have been a victim of each component of the sexual assault spectrum of which you speak. They all hurt.

“And they are all connected to a patriarchy intertwined with normalized, accepted–even welcomed– misogyny.”

We really can’t say any of this better than Milano, so we’re just gonna let her keep going…

We are not outraged because someone grabbed our asses in a picture. We are outraged because we were made to feel this was normal.

We are outraged because we have been gaslighted. We are outraged because we were silenced for so long.

There are different stages of cancer. Some more treatable than others. But it’s still cancer.

Sexual harassment, misconduct, assault and violence is a systemic disease. The tumor is being cut out right now with no anesthesia. Please send flowers. #MeToo

BOOM, right?

Game, set, match, Alyssa Milano.

Most people seem to agree that Damon meant no harm with his comments and that he was just trying to be understanding.

The thing is, he was trying to be understanding of the men, not the women.

The best thing men can do in this climate right now is simply listen.

The worst thing they can do, even the well-intentioned ones? Pretend they know best, as Damon did here.

Matt Damon Gets Dragged by Entire Internet for Sexual Misconduct Comments

Matt Damon is generally considered one of the nicest, least controversial actors in Hollywood.

But the star has gone ahead and stuck his typically-genial foot directly into his very handsome mouth.

On Wednesday’s episode of ABC News’ Popcorn With Peter Travers, the actor shared his take on the influx of sexual misconduct allegations that continue to hit the entertainment profession.

And, in doing so, Damon opened himself up to criticism from… well… pretty much everyone.

“I think we’re in this watershed moment,” he said early in the interview, adding:

“I think it’s great. I think it’s wonderful that women are feeling empowered to tell their stories – and it’s totally necessary.”

There you go. Perfect. Damon could have just stopped there and no one would be talking about him right now.

But he didn’t stop there.

With sexual misconduct allegations derailing the careers of such stars as Louis CK, Kevin Spacey, Matt Lauer, Mario Batali and MANY others, Damon made many attempts to parse various situations.

Referring to a “spectrum of behavior,” he said:

“There’s a difference between, you know, patting someone on the butt and rape or child molestation, right?”

In this case, Damon was citing scandals that have enveloped politicians Al Franken (butt patting) and Roy Moore (alleged child molestation).

“Both of those behaviors need to be confronted and eradicated without question, but they shouldn’t be conflated, right?” Damon continued, saying he would have “preferred if they had an Ethics Committee investigation.”

However, Damon argued:

“We are so energized to kind of get retribution.”

Most people would not say anyone is energized to get “retribution” right now.

They would say women are energized to speak out against the many times they’ve been wronged; and this should only be applauded.

In one of his most dissected and disappointing statements, Damon said:

“We live in this culture of outrage and injury, and, you know, we’re going to have to correct enough to kind of go, ‘Wait a minute. None of us came here perfect.’

“You know what I mean?”

Not really.

One can not be perfect and also know how to treat a woman with respect at all times.

Among those who have dragged Damon for his comments is Minnie Driver, who co-starred with the actor in Good Will Hunting.

She linked to his controversial interview on Twitter and just wrote “God, God seriously?”

Others, meanwhile, have said the following:

damon tweets

Damon, who was close to Harvey Weinstein after the producer helped get Good Will Hunting made, dug himself into an even deeper hole when citing individual examples.

Admitting he doesn’t “know all the details” about Louis C.K., for example, Damon said the following:

“I don’t do deep dives on this, but I did see his statement…

“When he came out and said, ‘I did this; I did these things; these women are all telling the truth,’ I just remember thinking, ‘Well, that’s the sign of somebody who…well, we can work with that."”

Ummm…. there are two problems with this argument:

  1. CK was accused of pulling out his penis and masturbating in front of many women. Damon could have taken a few easy second to research this online.

  2. CK only released his statement AFTER reports came out that basically confirmed these actions.

Damon is concerns that “the clearer signal to men and to younger people is [to] deny it, because if you take responsibility for what you did, your life’s going to get ruined.

“I mean, look, as I said – all of that behavior needs to be confronted, but there is a continuum.

‘And on this end of the continuum where you have rape and child molestation or whatever, you know, that’s prison. Right? That’s what needs to happen. OK?”

MD

SIGH.

Look, yes, there’s a difference between outright rape and a few misguided comments. No one denies this.

But one could argue that a culture that looks past the latter on a continual basis contributes to more of the former because there because a general acceptance of women as nothing but sex objects.

Moreover, this just isn’t the time, Matt.

There have been too many instances of too much heinous behavior around Hollywood. This isn’t the time to get up on a pedestal and try to teach America about grey areas.

But Damon focused on social media in his interview and lamented today’s culture of presumed guilt, saying:

“The moment a claim is made… I would be scorched earth. I’d go, ‘I don’t care if it costs $ 10 million to fight this in court with you for 10 years; you are not taking my name from me. You are not taking my name and my reputation from me. I’ve worked too hard for it.

“And I earned it. You can’t just blow me up like that."”

“Once a claim is made, there will no longer be settlements. That’s my prediction, just based on what I’ve seen.”

“Isn’t that a good thing?” Travers countered, noting many female had been unable to share their stories because of nondisclosure agreements.

“One hundred percent,” Damon responded, adding that “every woman who’s coming forward with one of these stories needs to be listened to and heard.”

Boom. Yes. Done.

That’s all you had to say in the first place, Matt Damon.

Dr. Drew: Criticized For Idiotic Jenelle Evans Comments

As usual, there was drama aplenty at the taping of the annual Teen Mom 2 reunion show last month.

And predictably, much of the turbulence centered around the Carolina Hurricane herself, Jenelle Evans.

But remarkably, it’s Jenelle that viewers are most pissed at after watching the special, but rather the reunion’s milquetoast host, Dr. Drew Pinksy.

Now, Drew is no stranger to saying dumb things on television.

At this point in his career, idiocy is pretty much his calling card.

But the good doctor’s latest slip-up is interesting in that it’s both boneheaded and imminenlty understandable.

Allow us to explain:

While speaking with Jenelle’s long-suffering mother, Barbara Evans,

Predictably, the fan reaction on social media was not favorable:

“Dr. Drew is so bogus it’s sickening,” one viewer tweeted. “You don’t refer to abuse & controlling behavior as a good way to contain a woman. You’re supposed to be a professional. Act like one.”

“Dr. Drew saying she needs someone ‘to contain her’ is just twisted. She’s not a zoo animal,” commented another.

“Is ‘Dr’ Drew seriously implying that Barb is the bad guy here?? And David is only trying to protect and *contain*Jenelle???” asked a third.

Now, that was undeniably a poor choice of words on Pinksy’s part, and he should be chastised for saying what he said.

But for context, let’s review Jenelle’s behavior during the taping:

Things got off to a rocky start when the Evans-Easons went hard at the pre-party, and the night came to a premature end due to David Eason drunkenly stabbing baloons in the lobby.

During the taping itself, Jenelle caused a brawl backstage when she attacked the girlfriend of her ex, Nathan Griffith.

Evans was not arrested for the assault, but if she had been, it would’ve brought her one step closer to the 20-mugshot mark, a milestone that usually eludes even the most self-destructive celebrities.

So yeah, Jenelle could probably use some sort of stabilizing influence in her life.

But it doesn’t need to be a domineering man, and it’s certainly not David Eason, who only appears to be exacerbating the situation.

So Dr. Drew just added his name to the list of dumbass dudes attempting to “fix” Jenelle and only making the situation worse.

These days, it’s a mighty long list.

Watch Teen Mom 2 online to relive Jenelle’s wildly tumultuous past.

Derick Dillard: Officially Axed by TLC Over Transgender Comments

Derick Dillard is persona non grata at TLC.

The network has gone ahead and made this official.

Back in August, the 28-year old husband of Jill Duggar made headlines when he attacked 17-year old transgender Jazz Jennings, who, like Derick’s wife and her family, has a show on TLC.

Seemingly unprompted by anything other than the fact that Jennings stars on I Am JazzDillard wrote on Instagram at the time:

“What an oxymoron… a ‘reality’ show which follows a non-reality. ‘Transgender’ is a myth. Gender is not fluid; it’s ordained by God.”

Jennings mostly took the high road in response, labeling Dillard a cyberbully and saying that she’s unfortunately accustomed to remarks from people such as him.

Fast forward to late last week and Derick was at it again, writing the following on Twitter:

I pity Jazz, 4 those who take advantage of him in order 2 promote their agenda, including the parents who allow these kinds of decisions 2 be made by a child.

It’s sad that ppl would use a juvenile this way.

Again, nothing against him, just unfortunate what’s on TV these days.

Ah yes, the classing “nothing against” the person whose lifestyle one thinks is sinful and shameful.

Derick added that “never bullied anyone,” but “just said I didn’t agree with what is being propagated on TV” and is “expressing my view of what should be treated as reality; if I say I feel like I am Nepali, that doesn’t make me so.”

In response to this most recent attack Jazz did not mention Derick by name.

But tweeted on Saturday:

“In the face of constant ignorance and hatred I prefer to disregard negative opinions and continue moving forward with love.”

TLC, meanwhile, was not as even-handed in its latest statement.

On its official Twitter account, the cable network wrote this:

We want to let our viewers know that Derick Dillard has not participated in Counting On for months and the network has no plans to feature him in the future.

We want to reiterate that Derick’s personal statements do not reflect the views of the network.

TLC is proud to share the story of Jazz Jennings and her family and will continue to do so.

tlc statement

Some Duggar/Dillard fans, naturally, have fired back, claiming Derick is simply exercising his right to “free speech.”

Which is true. He’s not about to be imprisoned for his view.

But the right to free speech doesn’t mean one can say absolutely anything without any consequences.

The general future of Counting On remains unclear.

There has been chatter of late that the series may not return for a new season, largely due to Dillard’s ongoing controversial comments.

What do you think about what Derick said and how TLC responded?

Should the network finally cut ties with this family once and truly for all?

Tom Bergeron SLAMMED for Comments About Witney Carson!

Tom Bergeron made an "odd" comment on Dancing With The Stars, and he"s taking some serious heat for it.

This started with Carrie Ann Inaba praising Witney Carson and Frankie Muniz for their waltz.

"So far for me, that was the closest thing to perfection. I mean, you are so exquisite when you dance."

Pretty standard fare stuff for Dancing With The Stars. Inaba continued: "It"s just so clean. I look for mistakes, but I don"t see them — except for when you almost lost control of Witney there."

This is when Tom Bergeron decided to chime in with one of his attempts at humor. They never go well, but this time, it was especially bad: "I"m guessing he"s not the first guy who"s lost control of Witney." Yikes!

Witney Carson looked shocked, and a lot of viewers felt the same way.

At worst, this was an implication about her personal life that may very well amount to sexual harassment. At best, it was a dumb joke and attempted compliment and Tom Bergeron just failed to communicate that. Which would make him a not-so-great TV host.

Witney says that she"s just going to "brush it off," which is totally her choice and an effective way to avoid further controversy.

Below, you"ll see fan tweets slamming Bergeron — but you"ll also see a few defending him.

And you"ll see what Tom Bergeron had to say when he finally addressed the issue.

1. Like we said, Bergeron is getting slammed

Dwts 01

This tweeter was not the first or last to mention #MeToo and the inappropriate things that so many women hear in the workplace.

2. This one’s nice and concise

Dwts 02

Some aren’t sure if it was sexual harassment, but most can agree that whatever Bergeron was trying to say wasn’t appropriate

3. He really stepped in it this time

Dwts 03

Another #MeToo reference, though perhaps we should let Witney herself decide if this is a #MeToo situation

4. This one has a good sense of empathy

Dwts 04

Weird comments are bad enough at work, but at work on national television? Yikes.

5. We’re always here for a good Saved By The Bell reference

Dwts 05

But seriously, folks, we wonder what was going through Bergeron’s mind

6. Some wondered if they misheard

Dwts 06

It’s a little unlikely that everyone “misheard” the same thing

Miley Cyrus Claps Back, Defends Texas Shooting Comments

Miley Cyrus is not one to withhold her opinion.

This is true about marijuana. This is true about her boobs.

And this is also true about mass shootings in America.

On Sunday morning, 26 people were killed inside a church in Texas after an assailant opened fire with a semi-automatic weapon.

In response, Cyrus expressed shock, anger and outrage.

The artist took to Instagram to emphasize that the “terrorist act” was performed by a “WHITE AMERICAN MAN.”

Here is what the singer wrote in full after learning about this horrible attack:

My dreams have become nightmares & those nightmares , reality … This isn’t fair , this isn’t right , this isn’t just , this isn’t human!

This is a TERRORIST act by a WHITE AMERICAN MAN! I am heartbroken & embarrassed.

Mortified by our country & its shitty system , lack of control/laws! This does NOT HAVE or NEED to happen! It’s devastatingly disgusting!

This is exactly why the lyrics of Bad Mood were so important for me to share on a major platform. I wanted to bring awareness to the fact that everyday we are waking up to more terrifyingly painful information that makes it nearly impossible to feel optimistic that things are going to change!

They say it gets worst before it gets better in some cases & I wish on every star that this is the worst of it!

I continue to be hopeful that enough is enough and the eyes of the ignorant will open and realize that (gun) VIOLENCE has to stop! This assholes Facebook profile photo was a fucking riffle !

“I don’t know how much more it can take!” #FuckGuns #FuckViolence

cyrus reply

Cyrus quickly came under fire for these comments, specifically for highlighting that the shooter was a “WHITE AMERICAN MALE.”

Her point, as it should have been clear to any level-headed individual, is that white people are very much capable of committing terrorist acts.

In fact, a majority of terrorist acts in America are committed by white males with guns. This is simply a fact.

However, some people (such as the President of the United States) only connect terrorism with Muslims, as evidenced by the fact that President Trump barely even denounced the man who killed 26 people in Texas.

He cited “mental health” as the basis for the act and made it clear he won’t move to enact any kind of gun control.

Following the backlash against her emotional Instagram message, Miley shared ANOTHER emotional Instagram message.

It was included as a caption to this photo.

heart texas

And it read as follows:

I’d like to believe that EVERY person who takes the life of another being is ” mentally ill ” …. it’s hard to conceptualize that a sane human could commit such a hideous crime.

BUT I am sorry Donald Trump this absolutely is a ” GUNS SITUATION”

I am aghast by the reaction of my latest post , it is completely amazing to me how defensive and in denial this country really is!

You are not focused on the horrific tragedy I addressed but more angered that I am putting a BIG bright spotlight on the fact it was a “WHITE AMERICAN MALE” terrorist that walked in & killed 26 people (including children) leaving 20 severely injured !

All of a sudden …. ” we are all equal ” “human is human” “skin color doesn’t matter ” (NOW neither does gender) “makes no difference if they were male or female” ……

BUT those things absolutely matter when … someone completely legitimate is running for president (versus someone who isn’t) , when a car runs over innocent people while professing their love to a GOD different from yours , it sure matters to the cops when they beat or even kill innocent people of color.

it even matters at the airport/on an airplane or in immigration when folks are completely profiled & judged for their background . NOW it doesn’t matter if someone is a man or woman?

Well that’s news to me and the HH foundation because it’s been years of fighting for gender equality and the right to be the sex you identify with or marry the one you love!

There has ALWAYS been an issue with these subjects until NOW. So since this tragedy has occurred (coming off the cusp of Vegas, another terroristic act by a white American male) DONT START to be all innocent!

Gender , race , & religion HAS and continues to matter for all the wrong reasons & that’s only the beginning of how backwards this country is!

All of you are so focused on protecting yourself, you’ve completely forgotten that you’re not the only one that has to live in this country or on this planet!

Aren’t you exhausted?

Because to be honest I am fucking sick and tired of starting everyday with tears and in mourning!

Let’s unite! Trump never needed to build a wall for us , we’ve done it ourselves! Love!

mileydad

In conclusion, Cyrus shared photos of “a few of [her] favorite white American males,” including her father, Billy Ray Cyrus, and her brothers, Braison Cyrus and Trace Cyrus.

“I do NOT & refuse to generalize or stereotype! Facts are Facts,” she wrote as a caption to the image above, adding:

“You are all correct to believe every human deserves the same respect …. but please keep that in mind when you’re judging others.

“NOT just with the race , religion , gender , or sexuality which YOU identify with. Deal?”

It’s a deal, Miley.

You tell ‘em.

Perez Hilton Tries, Fails to Walk Back Kylie Jenner Abortion Comments

When you"re a celebrity and you screw up in public, a follow-up is a great opportunity to apologize, reassure your fans, and to quiet down your haters.

Or, you know, you can just dig that hole even deeper.

And that, it seems, is what Perez Hilton has chosen to do in the video below.

Kylie jenner perez hilton splitPerez hilton says some things

So, Kylie Jenner is pregnant with Travis Scott"s baby. Because 2017 is nuts anyway, so this might as well happen. Sure.

Reportedly, she"s expecting a baby girl who"s due in February of 2018.

Kylie hasn"t seen fit to confirm the news. No one in the family has, which is … frustrating.

It"s also frustrating news to a lot of fans who hate to see Kylie make what they believe is such a poor choice.

After all, Kylie is only 20, even if, yeah, she has basically unlimited resources and also a large family.

And then there"s the fact that Travis Scott is Kylie"s rebound guy — after she finished dating Tyga for what felt like decades.

Most people limit their comments to "yikes" or "lol" or basically anything other than what Perez Hilton opted to do.

Kylie jenner on her side

Perez Hilton basically said that Kylie Jenner should get an abortion. Because … ugh. Of course he did.

In fact, let"s not paraphrase — here were his exact words:

"If I were Kris Jenner, I would tell that girl to get an abortion!"

It was part of a lengthy video post (oh gosh, Perez"s videos are so long … like, I talk a lot, but even Perez"s "short" videos are way too long), but that was obviously the standout line.

As you can imagine, he got a huge backlash, and not just from the anti-abortion crowd.

Because literally the whole point of "my body my choice" is that nobody should get told what to do with their own damn uterus.

Anyway, the clapback was well-deserved, and Perez really should have been thinking carefully about his posts.

Like, this was barely a week after he stirred up controversy by inviting followers to body-shame Bella Thorne.

Some might accuse him of having a fondness for cyberbullying celebrities who are too young to drink.

Perez hilton sucks

So, Perez decided to "clarify things" in a video below.

He rambles about anti-abortion politicians (who are not relevant to this conversation at all) and talks about fatherhood and being a parent (which is kind of relevant)

But … as you"ll see below, he"s not doing a great job of walking back what he said.

So, before, people interpreted what he"d said as "Kylie Jenner should get an abortion!"

He said that what he actually meant was:

"What I meant to say if I didn"t say it accurately is that, if I were her mother, I would"ve told Kylie Jenner to get an abortion when they found out in July."

That"s not actually better, my guy.

Kylie jenner white robe with nails

Perez Hilton is missing the point that it"s no more Kris Jenner"s business what Kylie does with her uterus and its alleged contents than it is his.

The stage of the pregnancy and who is trying to tell her what to do with her own body doesn"t matter.

Perez Hilton is welcome to call Kylie"s potential parenting skills into question all that he likes.

(Though, honestly, in addition to a sizable family support network and enough money to buy a small army of nannies, Kylie is really good with dogs and that gives us high hopes for her maternal skills)

You can be 100% pro-choice under all circumstances (I am) and still be disgusted by a man suggesting that anyone, even Kris Jenner, should have tried to convince her child to get an abortion.

That is, to me, every bit as bad as suggesting that someone should talk her out of an abortion.

If Kylie had asked "what should I do," then sure. But you don"t volunteer an opinion about someone else"s uterus. Wait for them to ask.

Perez Hilton saw the backlash but missed the point.
