Tyler Baltierra Details Mental Illness in Powerful New Poem
Teen Mom OG star Tyler Baltierra struggles with his mental health, and has to defend himself and explain to fans that his mental illness doesn’t make him a bad parent.
He’s absolutely right. He has coping mechanisms, and one of those is expressing himself through poetry.
In a powerful and evocative new poem, he explains what it’s like to endure the fog of depression and anxiety on a daily basis.
On Instagram, Tyler Baltierra shared a somewhat freeform poem that, at first, might resemble prose.
“Living with this depression & anxiety causes hurt.” Tyler’s poem begins. “Its brain is like an alien stuck in a foreign body.”
A lot of people can feel that way. Particularly those who endure a chronic battle with an illness.
“That body just keeps getting up,” Tyler continues. “it keeps putting on these clothes & it goes about the day doing whatever is required.”
It sounds like he is describing an empty routine that feels devoid of meaning.
“But It barely eats,” Tyler laments. “It’s always weak & it’s always tired.”
Many feel betrayed by their flesh prisons, and Tyler is no exception.
“But I’m so confused,” Tyler writes. “I just don’t get it, because if it’s so weak & it’s so tired, then why can’t it sleep when it’s time for its mind to retire.”
Insomnia is a special kind of torment that adds insult to injury for those enduring the chronic fatigue that can accompany depression.
“It’s like its mind is this tire that keeps spinning in circles & it gets lost every time it takes a spin while driving on that thin of a wire.”
By this point, you have no doubt noted that retire and wire rhyme with some earlier words. There’s a lot of that going on.
“But even though it lacks the ability to see what is required,” Tyler says. “That doesn’t mean It’s not allowed to desire the love & compassion every other human being desires.”
“It feels like it’s a conspire to not have known this information prior,” Tyler writes.
He means a conspiracy, but he’s using poetic license to play with the word.
“Because now all these thoughts in its brain caused by all these demons inside won’t stop talking with such an evil tone that’s dire…”
To be clear, he’s not talking about delusions of demons. He’s talking about the horror of intrusive thoughts.
(On their own, intrustive thoughts are supposed to be prompts to do things that we don’t want to do, so that our horrified internal reactions reinforce our resistance to those impulses. Mental illness can make that much worse)
Tyler writes: “& that tone distracts it from ever being able to see the positivity in this life it could actually acquire.”
That’s depression for you.
Tyler Baltierra ends his poem with the tag: “#PoetryIsMyBrainsFreedom.”
The Teen Mom OG star has opened up about his mental health struggles in the past.
Recently, he shared a heartbreaking poem that he wrote while battling suicidal ideation after getting the news of his father, Butch Baltierra, once again going to jail.
A person’s parent’s screw-ups, as a parent or as a human being, can haunt their children well into adulthood.
Tyler has explained that he shares all of this, not only because expressing himself through poetry is therapeutic, but because he hopes to help people.
Sometimes, the most powerful thing that you can do for someone is to make them understand that they are truly not alone.
The comments under Tyler’s poem were filled with expressions of support and sympathy.
A number of followers mentioned that they very personally understood his experiences.
Others recommended CBD oil, which they say can alleviate anxiety and depression like marijuana without producing the high.
It is always heartwarming to see people come together with solutions that worked for them, but not every solution is universal.

Catelynn Lowell Addresses Haters: Mental Illness Does NOT Make Me a Bad Mom!
Over the course of the past 18 months, Catelynn Lowell has checked into rehab three times.
Sadly, she’s taken a fair bit of flak from insensitive fans as a result of her struggles with mental illness.
While it certainly wasn’t her intention when she first decided to seek help, Catelynn has become a sort of spokesperson for young mothers struggling with mental health issues.
Most have applauded Lowell for her willingness to share her struggle with Teen Mom OG fans.
But as is always the case in 2018, haters have come out of the woodwork with the apparent goal of raining on Lowell’s parade.
Fortunately, Cate has no patience for their trash-talk:
“You’re not the only parent struggling with mental health issues,” a Twitter user wrote this week.
“I am a single parent with mental health issues BUT, I still have to provide for my family and be there when my children need me.”
Catelynn was quick to clap back by pointing out that in seeking treatment, she was doing what was best for her family:
“I wasn’t ‘running away from my problems. I was FIXING them! Working HARD & getting on the right medication,” she tweeted.
“I wouldn’t wish this crap on my worst enemy! But I guess I’ll have haters no matter what! Just glad I got myself better and if ppl r mad then be mad I guess.”
Catelynn further confirmed that her health is on the upswing these days by posting the photo below on Instagram:
“I love you so much!!!” she captioned the pic, in apparent tribute to her husband, Tyler Baltierra.
“And for all you haters vows say —in SICKNESS and in health . . . remember that . . . Because this man has done that for me beyond what could imagine.”
We’re sure Catelyn understands the frustrations of moms who are struggling but can’t afford in-patient treatment.
But at the end of the day, she’s making no apologies for taking steps to ensure her own health and the happiness of her husband and daughter.
Watch Teen Mom OG online for more of Catelynn’s courageous struggle.

Farrah Abraham Shuts Down Mental Illness Claim: My Mom is Pure Evil!
In a recent interview, zero-time mom-of-the-year Debra Danielsen claimed that Farrah Abraham is suffering from multiple mental illnesses.
While mental illness doesn’t deserve its stigma, offering an armchair diagnosis of your famous daughter is … inexcusable.
Farrah is now responding by firing back at her mother.
As you may recall, Debra shared her “compassionate” words about Farrah in an interview.
“If you have Borderline Personality Disorder, if you have narcissism, any of these kinds of things, they’re all highly treatable.”
Whether or not you imagine that someone is having symptoms of something, it’s irresponsible to assign them a diagnosis. Um, especially in an interview.
“All is not lost, but I will say that deep down inside I know my daughter. She is kind, loving and she is sweet and very compassionate.”
Despite her upbringing, we guess.
“I think she works extremely hard, I think she just needs to step back a moment, and take some time and get healthy and take time for her so she can heal.”
Farrah tells People that it is “sad to hear my own mother would say these untrue things about her own child.”
We should keep in mind that Farrah has claimed that Debra has Asperger’s … which is also not an okay thing to guess in an interview, and seems better designed to malign the autistic community than anything else.
But Farrah goes in on her mother’s words.
“It’s evil and alarming. After all these years, I still have her best interests at heart.”
Evil is a very strong word, but honestly … people don’t use it enough. Not for the right things, anyway.
Farrah is perhaps not the best judge of what is and is not reasonable, but she’s right about this being a crappy stunt to pull on her mother’s part.
Farrah goes on to reveal how she views her mental health.
“Clinically & honestly, none of my TV show therapists & personal therapist have all said I’m balanced.”
That’s … an interestingly worded statement, but we think that she means to say that her therapists all say that she’s fine.
We’re not saying that they really said that, we’re just saying that this is what Farrah meant to say. Obviously, we don’t know what her therapists have told her, only how she’s apparently interpreted it.
“I started therapy in my past at the age of 14 due to my mother and I not getting along as our family therapist sided with me about my safety and my life choices that my mother has never been supportive or caring to help guide her own children.”
In the past, Farrah has accused her mother of terrible abuse. Which might explain some of Farrah’s … quirks … but not excuse things like Farrah’s race-fueled rants.
Farrah then shares that her therapists “have come to the conclusion my mother is jealous” of Farrah.
“I always wish my mother the best as I attended her wedding supporting her.”
As Farrah continues to talk about her mother, her sentence structure takes on exciting new forms.
“Saying horrible things about your own child after I’m the only one who has ever strived to overlook her demons she fights daily against.”
You know, Farrah’s said that she’s going into scripted television now that she was fired from Teen Mom OG. “Farrah Abraham: Demon-Slayer” sounds like an amazing trainwreck that I would watch every week. Just saying.
Farrah continues.
“This brings sadness to our family and I wish her all the best for the sake of my health & safety I wish her all the best.”
So … she wishes her mother the best … for the sake of her own health. Not very selfless, but that probably is healthy if Farrah means it.
That said, Farrah says that she and her daughter are getting the hell out of Dodge.
“I hope she has enjoyed the Teen Mom MTV ride that Sophia brought to her life as I’m moving on from that toxic environment she dwells in.”
In other words, Farrah plans to cut off Debra from her granddaughter after this.
“I hope she ceases talking about me since she does not love me she does not need to speak about me to stay relevant in a disgustingly hateful way. God Bless.”
Don’t worry, Debra … at least you’ll always have your bond with Amber Portwood, right?

Tyler Baltierra: Catelynn Lowell"s Mental Illness is Not My Fault!
Hasn’t Tyler Baltierra been through enough lately?
In case you haven’t been keeping score, he really, really has.
Things have been ridiculously rough for the past couple of months, as we’ve been seeing on Teen Mom OG and as he and Catelynn Lowell have been revealing on social media.
Last fall, he and Cate began trying for another baby, and she quickly became pregnant, but as we’ll see in next week’s episode, she had a miscarriage not long after they began announcing the good news to family.
We don’t know the exact timeline yet — we assume it’ll all become more clear as the season goes on — but it’s easy to imagine that the miscarriage led to her worsening depression.
In November, she made a statement about how she’d been thinking of various ways to kill herself, and afterwards she checked into a treatment center.
Tyler was extremely supportive of her decision, but just before all this happened, he sent his father, Butch, off to rehab for his lifelong struggles with addiction.
So all during that time, he was concerned about his father and his wife, he was dealing with all the emotions from the miscarriage, and he was also taking care of his and Cate’s daughter, Nova, by himself.
It can’t be easy for him right now.
And unfortunately it looks like some people are going out of their way to make things even harder.
OK, so Jenelle did an interview on a podcast last weekend with some people named Vince and Noel — this is the interview in which she admitted to doing drugs during her last pregnancy.
We’re not sure if they talked about Catelynn and Tyler during the podcast, but it looks like Noel made this post on Facebook last month:
As you can see, she’s making light of Cate’s depression, which simply is not cool, especially not now that Cate is having such a hard time with it.
Earlier this week, Tyler saw the screenshots of the post and tweeted them, writing that “This is the most ignorant, vile & insensitive thing I have ever seen. To mock my wife’s suicidal ideation & depression is just sickening to the core!”
He tagged Noel and the other people involved in the podcast and told them that “you’re part of the reason Mental Health has the stigma that it does.”
She defended herself by saying that she has depression herself, and that she uses that kind of humor to deal with it, which kind of makes sense.
But still, she doesn’t know Catelynn, and she was joking about her on social media. It’s understandable why Tyler was so upset.
After Tyler’s tweet, he and Noel had an exchange, and it seems like she deleted some of her tweets. Here’s a screenshot of part of one:
So that part where she wrote “Do you want to take responsibility for Cait’s mental health?”, that’s the part we’re going to talk about now.
She attached a shot of Tyler’s infamous comments about not wanting a “heifer for a wife,” which, yes, was obviously not his greatest moment.
And he responded with a lengthy statement of his own.
“I take full responsibility for what I say,” he began. “This conversation was constructively edited to appear more insensitive than it actually was. We have addressed this many times before, but I will explain it once again.”
Tyler said that during that conversation, Catelynn told him that “she doesn’t desire a ‘muscle headed tool’ because that’s not attractive to her & I responded.”
“We started a diet together,” he continued, “and asked to hold each other accountable to our commitments. We have been together for 12 years, so there isn’t too much we won’t say to each other.”
“Yes, I can be abrasive with my delivery. Yes, I can be ignorant with how my delivery impacts other people. Yes, I make mistakes. But I own up to them.”
But still, Tyler said, “to state that I am the cause of her mental health struggles is yet again, another very ignorant opinion.”
“Her mental health struggles derive from the chaotic and unstable upbringing we both endured. We are both actively working on those struggles.”
He finished by telling Noel that he understands she’s getting a lot of hate for her comments, “but attempting to play ‘tit for tat’ & scorekeeper with me is quite a pathetic approach to justify your insensitivity.”
It’s a pretty great statement, right?
And he’s definitely right — for anyone to try to say it’s his fault that Catelynn has depression is just completely ignorant and hurtful.
Good on him for standing up for himself, and for explaining that perhaps we don’t know the ins and outs of his marriage or Catelynn’s complex mental health problems.
It’s just sad that some people need that explanation.
Wendy Williams Announces Illness, Leave of Absence
We often make fun of Wendy Williams.
And for mostly a very good reason:
She really does suck a whole lot.
This is someone who spends every single talk show saying cruel things about other celebrities.
And not just cruel thing, but REALLY cruel things that have no basis in fact.
She just speculates wildly about stars and topics in the news, even saying at one recent point that she is sick of the #MeToo Movement and slamming Kylie Jenner’s baby as ugly.
Williams just does not come across as a very good person.
All that said, we don’t wish her any kind of physical harm. We aren’t monsters, folks.
This is why we’d like to send Wendy our best wishes in light of the news she shared this morning with her studio audience.
Williams has confirmed a diagnosis of hyperthyroidism and Graves’ disease for herself.
As a result, you won’t be seeing her on the small screen any time in the near future.
“My doctor has prescribed – are you ready? – three weeks of vacation,” she told viewers after detailing her symptoms, which include difficulty sleeping and irritability.
She added: “I was pissed. Encore performances, really?”
Hey, Wendy, one’s health always comes first. Remember that.
Williams explained that Graves’ disease squeezes the muscles behind the eyeballs and said she thinks she experienced this symptom because she was focusing on her work AND on her son’s college applications.
She is such a trooper.
“I’ll be back in two [weeks],” Williams added, saying randomly and annoyingly:
“I’m not an heiress – who is going to pay my bills? Are you serious? I’m just saying, I come from working class.”
Yeah. You’re a millionaire, Wendy. Just shut up already.
In a statement to various entertainment news outlets, the talk show said the following:
Wendy is a true champion and has never missed a day of work. But her health and well-being must be put before all else.
Wendy has been openly dealing with her Graves’ disease for many years in addition to hyperthyroidism. Yesterday, Wendy’s doctor prescribed a necessary three weeks of rest to get her levels and medication in sync.
The show will be in repeats during this unplanned hiatus. A live show was produced today so that Wendy could speak directly to her fans and explain her condition.
Williams concluded her message by again stating that Oprah is fat.
Just kidding.
She instead told women (not men, just women) to insure they always have an eye on their health.
“What I want to say to women, more than men, is stop putting everyone first because if we’re not good, they’re not good.”
What a weird thing to say, right?
Williams previously had a health scare in October of last year, when she fainted during her live Halloween episode.
Producers rushed to the stage as the broadcast cut to a commercial.
When Wendy returned a few minutes later, she explained that she was dehydrated and overheated in her Statue of Liberty costume.

Amanda Bynes: "Struggling" Amidst Mental Illness Relapse, Source Claims
For Amanda Bynes, the road to recovery has been a long and difficult one with many potholes and detours along the way.
Bynes’ struggle with mental illness played out in the public eye, and when she began to show signs of recovery earlier this year, fans rejoiced at the thought of having “the old Amanda” back.
Now, it seems their celebrations may have been premature.
Sources close to Bynes tell In Touch Weekly that the actress has suffered a “major relapse” and that she’s “struggling to regain control of her life. “
The news comes on the heels of a promising upswing, during which Bynes seemed to be getting the help she needed to repair her career and public image.
The positive changes in her Bynes’ behavior began earlier this year.
In April, Bynes returned to Twitter following an extended absence from the social media site.
Shortly thereafter, she gave her first interview in four years, during which she stated that she’s “doing great,” keeping busy, and looking forward to returning to acting.
“I’ve been going to school lately, fashion school, FIDM [the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising], and I love it. I’ve learned how to sew, I make patterns, and I want to start a clothing line in the future,” Bynes said.
“Other than that,” she continued, “I hike, I go spinning, take spinning classes, and I feed the homeless, and that’s been really interesting and fun.”
Sources verified that Bynes was once again pursuing an education after taking an extended hiatus:
“She began taking classes in the fall, even though she was kicked out before for showing up high as a kite,” said one fellow student.
“She seemed upbeat and talked about returning to TV.”
Unfortunately, the return to television never took place, and insiders say it’s Bynes’ inability to find work that touched off her latest meltdown.
The 31-year-old’s comeback came around the fifth anniversary of DUI arrest that seemed to trigger an extended downward spiral for Bynes.
In the months that followed, her drug use increased, and her behavior became more erratic, a pattern that culminated in Bynes being placed on a 5150 psychiatric hold and hospitalized for several months.
Here’s hoping Amanda can somehow regain that momentum and get back on the road to recovery.

Vicki Gunvalson Mocked for Illness by Frenemies: She"s Just Dramatic!
Why are they like this?
A number of the cast members on The Real Housewives of Orange County can be real pieces of work, and Vicki Gunvalson is no exception. But nobody deserves to be mocked for being sick.
In trying to poke fun at their frenemy for her malady, Tamra Judge, Shannon Beador, and Meghan Edmonds mostly just revealed their ignorance and insensitivity for the whole world to see. Again.
If you read our latest The Real Housewives of Orange County recap, you know that in addition to talk of forgiving Kelly and some of the usual factional talk, there was a lot of talk about health.
Well … a lot of that was about plastic surgery, but not all of it.
One small portion of the episode involved Vicki Gunvalson informing her frenemies that she was sick.
Specifically, she announced that she had Influenza B.
This announcement triggered a flurry of insults as Tamra, Shannon, and Meghan jumped at the chance to ridicule Vicki.
Tamra, of course, resents Vicki for spreading gay rumors about her husband.
Shannon Beador blamed Vicki Gunvalson for making her fat, and Vicki’s shared some nasty rumors about her marriage, as well.
Meghan Edmonds asked: “How does she know what letter it is? … She got tested because she thought it was C or A? “
A lot of rich people, particularly those who are older, have great insurance and don’t mind copays and would rather know what’s wrong with them than just suffer through it.
And, oh by the way, Vicki — like the rest of her castmates — isn’t as young as she used to be.
Illnesses can get more serious as you age.
But Meghan continued. “Like why do you get it tested? All you do is you deal with it and you get better.”
Look, that’s how most of us deal with getting sick.
(Honestly, even if I had the resources of a Real Housewife, I would still probably just stay in bed with blankets and broth)
But it’s usually considered the smart thing to:
-go to the doctor
-get tested
-get official medical advice and get medication either recommended or prescribed to suit your precise needs
Tamra Judge, who hasn’t been anything close to a friend of Vicki’s for a long, long time, keeps the criticism going.
“She’s very dramatic.”
Yes … literally all of them are, or they wouldn’t be on a Real Housewives show.
But unless there was some off-camera lamenting on Vicki’s part that this flu was going to be the end of her, her dramatic tendencies aren’t relevant.
But Meghan Edmonds continued:
“The text is going to say ‘I’m dramatic as f–k and I have to make it as bad as it can possibly sound, so I’m going to put a letter next to influenza."”
Shannon Beador does her best to “burn” Vicki under the circumstances:
“She’s not Vicki anymore. Her name is ‘victim."”
Uh … nice try, Shannon.
Look, we’re not the sort to rush to Vicki’s defense, but these three were making total asses of themselves and we’re not going to pretend that they weren’t.
Unlike Influenza A, which tends to strike during the winter months, Influenza B can infect people and cause them to develop flu symptoms throughout the year.
Most of us think of the flu as an inconvenience, but Influenza B specifically is acknowledges as a potentially fatal disease that claims lives all around the globe every single year.
And that’s despite a slower mutation rate than Influenza A (which means that Influenza B has a harder time adapting)
If you’re still wondering why, aside from idle curiosity or even just being specific, it matters that Vicki Gunvalson got Influenza B …
… Influenza B can have a particularly harsh impact on children and adolescents.
Knowing that she has Influenza B might cause her to avoid contact with children even more carefully.
And, again, knowing exactly what makes you sick shouldn’t be mocked.
It’s just useful information.
Sometimes when you reach too hard for a way to put down someone else, you just look like a fool.

Troian Bellisario Opens Up About Mental Illness: It Was a Difficult Journey!
Troian Bellisario is one of the most influential actresses around, and she has not been shy about her experiences with mental illness.
The 31-year-old Pretty Little Liars graduate opened up about her experiences to Lenny Letter. For those of you who don’t know what that is, it’s a newsletter run by Lena Dunham and Jennifer Konner.
The actress opens by recalling a time in her life when she was swimming in a lake with a close friend. The lake was cold, and the star commented that she felt discomfort, yet could not remove herself from the water.
It’s a worrying visual to imagine, but that was a sign that the actress was suffering from mental health.
She opens up candidly about her body telling her to get out of the lake, but she did not want to show weakness in front of the friend.
“Here I am, 31 years old,” the actress wrote.
“And I’m still denying my body the one thing it is asking me to do: take care of it.”
What we love about Troian is that she is an inspiration. She does not hide anything from fans and opens up whenever she’s given the opportunity.
She moved on to chat about a difficult time filming Pretty Little Liars when she was faced with harsh Canadian weather.
“I looked around: Lucy [Hale], Ashley [Benson] and Shay [Mitchell] all seemed cold but fine; they looked professional, powerful,” Bellisario wrote.
“Was I not cut out for this? I pushed that thought out of my mind. Suck it up, Bellisario, do your job.”
Bellisario then opened up about her experience writing, producing and starring in her film Feed. She wanted to create a project out of her struggles; one that would hopefully help other people.
She even goes as far as saying that the movie helped her differentiate herself from her mental illness,
“It was a difficult journey finding my way back to health,” the actress wrote.
“Through hard introspection, intense medical and mental care, a supportive family, friends and patient and loving partner, I survived, which is rare.”
The actress opened up last month to Interview Magazine about her struggles with an eating disorder.
“I couldn’t get anyone — even the people who loved me the most, even my boyfriend or my mother or my father — to understand what that experience was truly like for me,” she said at the time.
Troian has been keeping busy since her seven-year-stint on Pretty Little Liars came to a close, and has booked a role on Richard Linklater’s latest project, Where’d You Go, Bernadette.

Elton John Cancels Weeks of Vegas Shows Due to Illness
Elton John has canceled multiple shows due to an illness that has dogged him for several months … sources familiar with the situation tell TMZ. We’re told Elton has canceled shows between now and May 5 at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Vegas,…
Erin Moran Cause of Death: Secret Illness Revealed?
Yesterday, we learned the sad news that Happy Days and Joanie Loves Chachi star Erin Moran had passed away at the age of 56.
Speculation about the cause of Erin Moran’s death has been rampant, but early on, there was not much in the way of definitive news.
That may have just changed.
The actress was fed through a gastrointestinal tube, or GI tube, at home with her mother-in-law, according to the coroner’s office.
Moran had been receiving treatment for Stage 4 cancer, with the tube in her throat to keep her alive during her tragic final days.
The source of this detail asked to remain anonymous pending further details to be released by the Harrison County Sheriff’s Dept.
However, they said the coroner found a GI tube during the examination, as well as “ample” evidence that Moran succumbed to Stage 4 cancer.
The specific type of cancer was not immediately clear.
“It was indicative when they did the autopsy that she was receiving medical care,” the source tells People, which reported the story.
A GI tube is usually inserted into the stomach by a physician to provide vital nutrients to patients who cannot feed themselves.
It can also be used to reverse the process, removing fluids from a person’s body when a patient is unable to perform the task.
The Sheriff’s office said the investigation is ongoing:
“Standard toxicology tests were performed and results are pending, however no illegal narcotics were found at the residence.”
“There were no illicit substances or anything to suggest foul play,” however, officials conducting the investigation reiterated.
If true, this would contradict earlier reports and speculation that Moran, who battled addiction for years, died of an overdose.
One of those who fueled that theory was her Joanie Loves Chachi co-star himself, Scott Baio, who spoke out in the wake of her death.
Baio appeared on the Bernie & Sid radio show today and wound up weighing in on the subject in a manner he may later regret.
Asked how he’s holding up, Scott says he’s not surprised she died: “I’m OK, a little shocked but not completely shocked that this happened.”
“My thing is … I feel bad because her whole life, she was troubled, she could never find what made her happy and content.”
“For me, you do drugs or drink, you’re gonna die.”
Baio then tried to walk back that comment somewhat, saying, “I’m sorry if that’s cold, but God gave you a brain, gave you the will to live and thrive.”
“You gotta take care of yourself,” he added.
“I’m saddened by what happened. I don’t know if it was drugs that killed her, I read one report said it might have been and I hope …”
“I don’t know what I hope. It’s what it is.”
Moran was troubled by substance abuse issues throughout her life, that much is not in doubt; Baio may have jumped the gun, though.
Erin was pronounced dead Saturday at the trailer Moran shared in rural New Salisbury, Indiana, with her husband’s mother.
“To my knowledge, they had their own room,” the source said.
Both Moran’s husband, Steven Fleischmann, and his mother, Donna Woods, have remained out of the public eye since her passing.
