The Walking Dead Season 8 Episode 1 Recap: Mercy

The war against Negan is officially a go!

On The Walking Dead Season 8 Episode 1, different factions rallied up their troops to wage war on the villain who has plagued them for a little too long.

When the episode got underway, we got to see an upset version of Rick and an old and happy version of the character. Thankfully, the older version seemed fine, which seemed to allude to the fact that he, Carl, Michonne, and Judith make it out of the war in one piece.

They were all cohabitating like a family, and the threat of the undead did not seem all that scary. Had they grown too wise to the undead or was the world in a much better place? We have no idea, but this was definitely an intriguing opening.

When we returned to the present, everyone was getting ready for the war with Negan and Maggie was glad to be along for the whole process … even if she was pregnant.

“They say you can wage war through the second trimester,” she said with a grin.

Rick and Gabriel chatted about the amount of trouble Negan had caused for everyone and how it was getting out of hand.

The group flawlessly took out the men who were on the lookout posts for the Saviors. They needed them gone in order to press on with the next stage of the operation for revenge.

Controlled explosions were carried out along a path to the Sanctuary. The group was taking the war right to Negan’s front door, and it was not a moment too soon.

Some of the group assembled right outside the Sanctuary and shot some bullets to let everyone inside know there was an express delivery.

Negan walked out with Eugene, Dwight, Simon, Gavin, and Regina. Negan was quick to point out that Rick was causing all of the trouble because he wanted to see whose penis was bigger.

Rick wanted the Saviors to know they could walk away, and not participate in a fight to the death but was not part of the plan.

Enter Gregory, who threatened the people from Hilltop with their families being shunned from the colony if they did not leave the fight.

“The Hilltop stands with Maggie!” yelled Jesus to a stunned Gregory. His reign was over, and Simon was done listening to him, so he shoved him down a flight of stairs.

Rick then pulled a Negan and counted down from ten, but decided it was time to open fire before he counted down to zero.

That moment essentially resulted in a massive gunfight and Rick blew something up near to the Sanctuary to keep the walkers on their way to wreak holy hell.

Rick almost killed Negan, but Gabriel made him step away and try to find the others because there would be time for that late. Rick made his getaway.

Gabriel’s conscience got the better of him and just when he tried to save Gregory, Gregory ditched him and stole his vehicle. Ultimately, Gabriel found himself in a horrible trailer with Negan.

“I hope you got your s—tin’ pants on,” said Negan with a smile.

“’cause you are about to s— your pants.”

What did you think of all the wild developments?

The Walking Dead Trailer: WTH is Going on with Rick?!?

Ummm… what?!?

Excuse us?!?

Can we have a few moments, please?

AMC has released the first trailer for The Walking Dead Season 8 and it features pretty much everyone teaming up against Negan.

We’re talking Rick, Team Alexandria, Maggie and Team Hilltop, along with Ezekiel and Team Kingdom, all dead set on avenging the murders of Glenn and Abraham.

"Hope you"ve got your s-itting pants on,” Negan says in the following preview, which opens, of course, with some taunting from everyone’s favorite villain.

(Seriously, how terrific is Jeffrey Dean Morgan in this role?!?)

We then see many explosions, a whole lot of fighting and even more zombies, prior to the more jarring scene of the extended trailer:

Rick, waking up in a hospital bed, with a grey beard and a cane by his side.

Like we said at the outset: Umm… WHAT?!?

Elsewhere in the promo, we see Ezekiel rallying the troops like only he can.

"When I first met him, Jesus said my world was gonna get a whole lot bigger. We found that world. We found each other. That bigger world is ours by right. Those who use and take and kill, we end them," he says at one point, adding:

"With everything we"ve beat, everything we"ve endured, everything we"ve risen above, everything we"ve become – no matter what comes next, we"ve won!

"We"ve already won!"

The Walking Dead returns on Sunday, October 22.

The Walking Dead Actor Dies in Skydiving Accident

Usually when we talk about death and The Walking Dead in the same statement, we’re talking about which beloved character has been killed off of the hit series.

Fans mourn fictional characters because they become real to you over time. Compelling stories elicit those kinds of reactions.

Unfortunately, this time it’s an actual actor with the series who’s died, and that’s hard to handle because a real person is gone from this world. The world has lost Randy Schell, who passed away in a tragic skydiving accident.

Randy Schell’s face might not look familiar to The Walking Dead‘s viewers.

But that’s because his contribution to the series was his voice.

Randy Schell was the one who said “Previously, on The Walking Dead.”

That’s the kind of line that’s so minor that people don’t always think about it.

(The fact that we can all watch a series without wondering who says a specific line or about other things happening behind the scenes is part of the magic of show business)

In fact, it’s probably safe to say that most shows have one or more castmembers say the “previously on” line.

Galavant actually had a song titled “Previously on Galavant,” but that show was a musical.

Other series, however, who don’t want to give one particular character the narrative voice, hire talented professionals like Randy Schell.

Randy Schell isn’t only known for his work on The Walking Dead, however.

He has IMDB credits for Blindspot, Dancing with the Stars, American Restoration, and Life in Pieces.

Schell also narrated nearly 500 episodes of Judge Alex.

Plus he did narrative work for major companies like McDonald’s and Geico.

Randy loved skydiving, as you can see in the above image that he’d previously used as a Facebook background.

Unfortunately, it was a skydiving accident that claimed Randy Schell’s life.

This happened around noon on what would have been “a normal Saturday afternoon of skydiving,” via a company called Skydive Spaceland.

Randy Schell and another diver collided in the air.

The collision was after both parachutes had deployed.

It sounds like the impact resulted in Randy’s chute malfunctioning.

It’s hard to imagine final moments that are more horrifying.

People who worked with Randy Schell are in mourning.

So, too, are countless fans, including those who watch The Walking Dead — a show whose fandom is known for their passion and enthusiasm.

It’s amazing how someone whose work, when done best, goes almost unnoticed can make such a difference.

Others knew Randy better, however.

His agent, Jenny Josby, describes him as having been a “consummate professional.”

He’ll also be remembered for his work in production and sound engineering.

According to Josby:

“He was a great friend, a great man, a great client.”

The other jumper survived the fall but was apparently treated for a leg injury.

This is sad for fans, but sadder for friends and family.

The Walking Dead Season 7 Episode 16 Recap: Who Died?!?

Who did not make it out of The Walking Dead Season 7 Episode 16 alive?

As is always the case with a season-ender of this successful AMC drama series, there was a big death to say goodbye. Turns out, this death may just have been a catalyst for giving the tired show a new lease of life.

When the episode got underway, the Alexandrians reacted with shock and anger to Dwight showing up and offering his help to kill Negan. Tara quizzed him about killing Denise, but he said he had to do it.

Just as Daryl was about to kill Dwight, Dwight claimed he could help with the looming war and told the group that Negan and his men were coming to take down Alexandria the next day.

He offered to help them wipe the Saviors off the face of the earth. Surprisingly, decided to take Dwight up on his offer and sent him on his way back to the Sanctuary.

The next morning, Carol took the Kingdom and Shiva towards Alexandria. On their travels, they bumped into Morgan, who was going after the Saviors alone. Carol managed to talk him into joining them.

Back in Alexandria, Jadis and her group appeared to take control of the guns, while Rosita set up bombs around the perimeter to take Negan out once and for all.

When the Saviors arrived, Sasha pressed the detonator on the bomb, but nothing happened. In a shocking turn of events, Jadis and her people were revealed to be traitors and had made a better deal with Negan.

All of her people turned their guns on the Alexandra people. After a tense bit of back and forth between Negan and Rick, the war was declared, but not before it was revealed that Sasha had killed herself in a coffin and tried to take a bite out of Negan.

This caused the three factions to fight for survival, but ultimately, Negan managed to have Carl and Rick together. He told Rick he was going to kill Carl with one swing of Lucille.

Rick told him to get on with it but warned he was still going to kill Negan. It was a bold accusation to make for someone who was about to die, but it showed just how much Rick had matured.

When Negan first struck, Rick, did not know what to do or say to stop it. Thankfully, before there any bloodshed, the Kingdom and Hilltop arrived, and the war went into full force.

Jadis’ people were pretty much made extinct, but Jadis fired a flare that found her people locking Rick’s group in and setting off bombs. In a flash, the villains had made their getaway.

Daryl got word from Dwight that he had nothing to do with Jadis’ people turning the tables, while Rick and Carl found Michonne, who had survived her ordeal.

Scenes of Sasha with all of the characters appeared sporadically through the episode. It was revealed that Sasha took the pill Eugene made for her.

Negan questioned this back at the Sanctuary, but Eugene said she ran out of oxygen. Negan then told his troops to prepare for war.

What did you think of all the drama?

The Walking Dead Season 7 Episode 15 Recap: Did Sasha Survive?

Did Sasha manage to take down Negan?

That was a key question on The Walking Dead Season 7 Episode 15 when it became apparent the end was near for some of our favorite characters.

When the episode got underway, Sasha was being held captive by Negan. David appeared in the room and tried to rape her, so she head butted him. Negan appeared and was less than impressed with his actions, so he killed him.

Negan recognized Sasha from the day he killed Glenn and Abraham and questioned whether Rick and his group were in on her plan. Negan left Sasha and the corpse in the cell, but it was not long before Eugene appeared.

Sasha was dazed and confused as her former ally tried to explain why he was not joining in the fight against Negan. This shocked Sasha who thought about joining the Saviors. Later, she revealed that she was ready to die and wanted Eugene to give her a blade to do the job.

Her hopes of making a getaway were dashed when Eugene gave her the pill he made to kill Negan a few weeks back. Sasha fell to the floor as she realized Eugene was part of the issue by joining the Saviors.

Elsewhere, Tara and the Alexandrians made their way to Oceanside to steal their weapons. Tara managed to get into the compound undetected. She went straight for Tonya, but she did not agree to join them.

Sindy felt betrayed that Tara would show up like that after promising she would not say a word to anyone. Tara was quick to point out that the Saviors are taking all over the other groups out.

Bombs started going off outside the compound. It was all part of Tara’s plan to scare them into joining the battle against Negan. When walkers appeared, the two teams joined forces to take the walkers down.

Tonya disappeared to lay down, but Sindy said she wanted to join the fight and take the Saviors down once and for all. The Alexandrians took the guns and vowed to bring them back when the war was over.

Sindy thanked Tara for being so brave and going to war. Tara smiled as she left the compound with her people and saying she did not feel bad about the guns.

To be fair, she had a point. She and her people were going to make Atlanta safe once again from the villains.

At Hilltop, Gregory got ready to stick the knife in Maggie’s back when she was not looking, but he decided against it because he was scared.

When the walkers appeared, Maggie was the one who saved him. Gregory looked pathetic as other members of his group looked on in disgust at a pregnant woman saving his life.

Finally, the group returned to Alexandria to find Rosita with Dwight. Daryl tried to kill him, but he said he wanted to join them to get away from the Saviors.

Oh, the drama.

What did you think of all the drama?
