Chris Rock to Host 2016 Academy Awards

Over a decade later, Chris Rock is ready to run it back.


The comedian and actor has confirmed that he’ll host the 2016 Academy Awards.



“I’m so glad to be hosting the Oscars,” the 50-year-old, who also emceed the 2005 ceremony, said in a simple statement. “It’s great to be back.”


Added David Hill & Reginald Hudlin, who will produce the event:


“Chris Rock is truly the MVP of the entertainment industry. Comedian, actor, writer, producer, director, documentarian – he’s done it all.


“He’s going to be a phenomenal Oscar host!”


The 2016 Academy Awards will air on February 28 from Los Angeles.


Rock also shared the photo above on Twitter, writing as a caption: “Look who’s back. #Oscars.”


Neil Patrick Harris hosted the 2014 Oscars, with Rock now joining a list of other previous hosts that include Billy Crystal, Jon Stewart, David Letterman and Ellen DeGeneres.
