Tori Spelling Says Wildfires Forced Her to Evacuate; Fire Marshal Says She"s Lying

As you’ve no doubt heard by now, dozens have lost their lives and millions of dollars in property has been destroyed, as California continues to battle the deadliest wildfires in the state’s history.

Numerous celebrities have lost their homes, including Miley Cyrus, Gerard Butler, and Robin Thicke.

Those stars have received an outpouring of support from fan,s and it seems Tori Spelling may have taken one look at the tidal wave of sympathy and thought, how can I get in on that?!

Tori took to Instagram this week and told a tale of being evacuated just as the fires made their way to her neighborhood:

“My big brood and I were evacuated last night. My eyes swell with happy tears when I reflect on how many friends immediately reached out and offered their homes to us,” the actress said.

“No small offer when you are talking about a family of seven. Some I don’t even know that well but as part of our school community they stepped up. Thank you all!”

Fans were quick to rally behind Tori with words of love and support.

“Praying for you and your family,” commented one follower.

“I’m so sad and sorry this is happening! Praying for you all,” wrote another.

It’s great that Spelling has such caring friends and fans … but it looks like those folks may have been bamboozled by the notoriously unstable actress.

“I haven’t heard anything about Mulholland Drive [where Spelling resides] being affected,” a Los Angeles County fire marshal tells Radar Online.

“I can tell you that I was just sent from Miracle Mile and we’re here in Woodland Hills in kind of a standby mode. We have been dispatched to different place across the city. We have different pools of fire engines kind of in a standby mode.”

The unidentified firefighter went on to say that there’s a possibility Spelling’s neighborhood could be affected by the fires — but it definitely hasn’t happened yet:

“We still have high winds and there is danger, so there could be spots and new fires that can break out. So we are sieging resources to get ready for that,” says the fire marshal.

It’s possible there’s some confusion here, or that Spelling and her family made the decision to evacuate on their own out of an abundance of caution.

But if it turns out Tori is lying, we think it’s safe to say this incident won’t do any wonders for her already battered reputation.

It’s anyone’s guess as to why she would concoct such a story.

Spelling’s financial troubles have been well-documented, so it’s possible she exaggerated her situation in hope of a handout.

Insiders who know the actress say Tori seems to lie compulsively, and they’ve learned to take everything she says with a grain of salt.

Here’s hoping Tori will provide soon post an update clarifying that this has all been one big misunderstanding.

Otherwise, she may have just reached a new rock bottom in a career that’s been filled with them.

Kanye West & Nicki Minaj Forced to Flee After SHOTS FIRED at Studio!

It would be a massive understatement to say it’s been a frightening 24 hours for the members of the Kardashian-West clan.

As we reported this morning, wildfires forced Kim Kardashian to flee her home last night, and it now looks as though her husband experienced his own brush with death.

Radar Online is reporting that Kanye West, Nicki Minaj, and Tekashi69 were all forced to flee the set of a music video they were filming together when an unidentified assailant opened fire.

“I can confirm that at 10:25 pm Beverly Hills Police were called to the 900 block of Alpine Drive in Beverly Hills over reports that shots were fired,” a spokesman for the Beverly Hills Police Department tells Radar.

“Once on the scene, officers confirmed that multiple shots were, indeed, fired at a building or residence at the 900 Block of Alpine Drive.

“At this time it is believed to be a drive-by. No one was injured, and the investigation is ongoing.”

The shooting took place at what TMZ calls one of the most “exclusive, expensive streets” in Beverly Hills, and Tekashi’s team had rented out a multimillion-dollar mansion for his video.

So it’s a safe bet that the assailants were targeting the rapper specifically.

Sure, everyone who was there last night has been involved in high-profile feuds:

After all, it wasn’t all that long ago that Cardi B threw a shoe at Nicki Minaj.

And who could forget Kanye’s feud with Taylor Swift?

We bring these beefs up only to point out how unlikely it is that this attack wasn’t orchestrated by Cardi and Taylor.

No, police say it’s clear that Tekashi was the target here, and unfortunately, his list of enemies is so long that it hasn’t been easy to narrow down the suspects.

The good news is, no one was injured in the frightening attack.

“Thank you for everyone’s prayers. Our family is safe and close,” Kanye tweeted today.

The bad news is, gunplay is still an unfortunate party of hip-hop culture, and Tekashi’s would-be assassins are still out there.

Matt Brown: Forced Into Rehab After Family Intervention

As we reported last week, Alaskan Bush People star Matt Brown entered rehab.

While it was a brave choice to take that step to address his drinking, it was not necessarily his choice. Not his first one, anyway.

Apparently, Matt’s family confronted him with an intervention.

36-year-old Matt Brown has entered a 90-day inpatient stint at rehab.

RadarOnline reports that Matt Brown’s family staged an intervention in order to nudge him along.

“Matt’s decision to enter treatment came after a family intervention,” their inside source reveals.

Sometimes, it takes a little bit of difficult confrontation from loved ones to admit that you have a problem.

In Matt’s case, it reportedly also required an ultimatum.

Apparently, when the Browns spoke to Matt about his drinking, they presented him with a choice.

“Matt was told he could either go and get help,” the insider says.

“Or,” the source continues. “He could face losing his contract with the show.”

He would lose that paycheck, the insider explains, “as well as the support of  his family.”

That might look like a choice on paper, but in real life, that’s no choice at all.

That intervention may have been something that Matt feared for a while.

According to the source, Matt “was desperately attempting to hide his drinking.”

That suggests that he knew that it was a problem, but did not want his loved ones to make a big deal about it or to worry.

They found out about it anyway, the insider says.

That is no real surprise. He was around family, and, well, people are seldom as good at hiding their drinking as people think.

Matt may be in rehab, but he isn’t cut off from the outside world.

“He has spoken to his brothers,” the insider reveals.

“And,” the source continues, Matt has “told them that he is doing okay.”

Just a few days into a rehab stint, okay is actually pretty good.

“He is very tired and worn down,” the insider shares. “But he will be alright.”

Struggles with drinking and addiction are often heartbreaking.

In many cases, they can be a form of self-medicating.

With Matt Brown, it is no exception.

This drinking was brought about by his mother’s health battle.

Ami Brown’s cancer battle took its toll on her, but also on her entire family.

Matt has been in rehab before, in 2016.

At the time, he and his family had become aware of a “downward spiral.”

Addiction — and the behaviors to which is leads — can be very complicated and difficult to defeat.

When your life receives a new stressor — such as Ami’s lung cancer and a move to another state — it can create a huge setback.

In Matt’s case, that meant a relapse.

Alaskan Bush People just had its Season 8 finale — so soon after its premiere.

Just before the finale episode, we saw Matt get injured in what Gabe called a worst-case scenario for their family.

That was … a little dramatic. We hope that Matt’s knee has recovered, though.

Right now, we hope that rehab proves effective.

Matt is not the only member of his family who struggles with mental health.

Sean Hannity to Jimmy Kimmel: I Accept Your Forced Apology! Come on My Show!

After making some jokes that many viewed as homophobic, Jimmy Kimmel has apologized to the LGBT+ community.

And it appears that he"s trying to quash his long-running beef with Sean Hannity at the same time. And, as the video below shows, it may have worked.

Hannity appears to have accepted Kimmel"s apology — even though he calls it "forced" — and he"s even inviting Kimmel to his show.

After rehashing the back-and-forth that"s been going on between himself and Kimmel, Hannity says this of Kimmel"s apology:

"On the surface, to be honest, it feels more like a forced Disney corporate apology directed more towards the LBGTQ community rather than about Kimmel’s comments about the first lady."

He seems to be pretending to say "LGBTQ" awkwardly, as if he doesn"t read that acronym all of the time as part of his job, but whatever. His viewers will eat that up.

Hannity continues, saying:

"I believe everyone should accept apologies, that’s how I was raised, that’s what my religion teaches me, and I’m going to assume he’s sincere."

 

"But, from my perspective, I do really kind of enjoy a good fight, and I do agree with Jimmy in the sense that it’s time to move on."

Of course, Hannity knows where his bread is buttered, so he naturally pivots to a familiar topic for Trump fans.

"For me, it was never about Hannity vs. Jimmy Kimmel. It’s a lot bigger than that for me."

The man who once blasted Obama for ordering "fancy" mustard thinks that the media is being unfair to Trump. Honestly, that"s wild.

"Just the level of hatred, vitriol against this president and his family is frankly unprecedented, as we"ve been talking about all night tonight."

He also refers to "the media" as "wholly an extension of the Democratic Party," which is almost funny for a few reasons, saying:

"What"s even worse, we have this corrupt media industrial complex. We see it all working tonight."

Uh-huh.

Hannity then decides to extend and invitation.

"You seem sincere when you talk about healthcare. You seem sincere when you talk about the country."

Kimmel certainly is. The healthcare issue really touches him, as he"d never be able to afford care for his son if he weren"t rich.

"I want to extend an invitation. You wanna come on the show, I"ll promise: no name-calling, no anger."

That will be incredibly off-brand for Hannity. Also, it implies that he can reign in his anger.

"No rehashing of the Twitter fight. You want to have a serious discussion. We can talk about the President, his policies, healthcare, comedy, political correctness. …"

That would be … interesting.

As you may recall, Jimmy Kimmel and Sean Hannity have had some back-and-forth banter.

Hannity is sometimes regarded as the "last man standing" among long-running, big-name conservative mouthpieces at Fox News.

Kimmel has his late-night talk show on NBC and, like many Americans, blows off steam by poking fun at the endless three-ring circus known as the Trump Administration.

However, Kimmel sometimes would poke fun at Melania"s accent, something that many feel should be off-limits. She never asked to be First Lady, after all.

This sparked a crude back-and-forth between Hannity and Kimmel. 

The very back-and-forth that escalated, with Kimmel"s jokes becoming homophobic and Hannity comparing Kimmel to an alleged rapist. Yikes.

When Kimmel suggested that Hannity and Trump were in a sexual relationship, he certainly intended for it to inflame and embarrass Hannity, who is not exactly known as a friend of the LGBT+ community.

But the results are homophobic. Calling someone gay to upset them is pretty blatantly homophobic, regardless of your intentions.

So it"s good that Jimmy apologized.

For the record, though, Sean Hannity used Jimmy Kimmel"s appearance on that gross and sexist The Man Show (and yes, it was, even at the time) to compare him to Harvey Weinstein.

Those women on that show signed up to be there. That"s a far cry from, you know, the women who accuse Harvey Weinstein of harassing, threatening, and raping them.

One worries that Hannity doesn"t understand the distinction between gross behavior (for a television role) that has been unlearned and unforgivable acts of predation. 

Will he accept Hannity"s invitation? Some would wonder what the point could be. Hannity"s politics speak for themselves. Anyone still watching his show isn"t likely to be swayed.

The only likely result is the normalization of Hannity"s radically pro-Trump views and an undeserved ratings boost for Hannity.

Kind of hard to see what Kimmel has to gain from that. But he might go for it.

It"s worth noting that Hannity also threatens to further embarrass Kimmel if the latter decides to reignite their feud. 

He apparently tasked producers to come up with, we"re guessing, a lot of dumb statements and awkward moments of him goggling at women on The Man Show.

Like Hannity, I agree that it would be nice to see fewer people take shots at Barron Trump, Melania Trump, and things like Trump"s typically American diet. 

(I"m a guy who eats kale-and-chicken burgers when I "get a burger," but if someone wants to eat a bucket of KFC or whatever, more power to them)

There are so many totally fair targets for ridicule. For example, almost everything else about Donald Trump.

Jana Duggar: Forced to Do Chores Instead of Dating?!

Jana Duggar is 28 years old and single.

That may not seem like a big deal, but Jana was raised in a family that teaches children from a young age that women are put on earth to procreate.

So the fact that four of her younger sisters have now married and started families while she remains at home with mom, dad, and an ever-dwindling brood of siblings has got to weigh on Jana’s mind from time to time.

Jana has been dubbed “the Cinderella Duggar” due to her perceived ability to suffer in silence and devote herself to household chores.

But is she really suffering or is she found fulfillment in serving her family?

Complex questions, but most Duggar fans aren’t interested in seeking the answers or listening to what Jana has to say.

Instead, they’d rather focus on what they believe is new evidence that the woman flat-out hates life.

Recently, the Duggars posted a video of Jana doing some gardening.

Seems innocent enough, but like everything else Jana does, it fans quickly interpreted the activity as evidence that Jana is depressed and miserably lonely.

“It’s sad to watch a 28-year-old woman raising her mother’s ‘blessings.’ Too bad she can’t use her many talents for her own life,” commented one viewer.

“Agreed… it’s horrible that Jana is forced to be the mom for all her younger siblings,” remarked another.

Like we said, the act of growing vegetables was somehow taken as further proof that 

And what does Jana have to say about all of this?

Well, not much, sadly, and her silence has been interpreted as further evidence that she’s a miserable workhorse who’s being forced to shoulder the burden of her parents’ decision to sire 19 freakin’ kids.

However, it’s not unusual that Jana’s not speaking up for herself, as Duggar women are rarely permitted to say what’s on their minds.

It’s possible that she’s miserable, but it’s equally possible that she’s decided marriage and children are simply not for her.

It’s tough to say, as most of the comments on the subject are made not by her, but by her father.

“Jana is 28 years old and still single. She’s still praying about ‘the one,’” Jim Bob Duggar told the crowd at a recent Christian leadership conference.

Jana’s own comments on the situation often sound forced or scripted.

“I know how it feels to wait for Prince Charming to come along. I’m still waiting. Waiting is not always easy,” she said in an interview back in 2016.

She’s been mostly silent on the matter ever since.

Fans are desperate for Jana to find the right man, which has led to some interesting rumors over the years.

Some of them have been absurd (like the reports that Jana is courting Tim Tebow), but others have been thoroughly believable.

But others have been entirely believable.

Most recently, it was reported that Jana was dating Caleb Williams, who – like most of her alleged suitors – is a longtime friend of the Duggar family.

Unfortunately, Wilson denied the rumors and he and Jana have not been seen in one another’s presence since.

So we guess Jana wll remain the Cinderella Duggar for the foreseeable future.

At least she’ll always have her gardening.

Jana Duggar: Is She Being Forced Into Dating Nathan Bates?!

For years now, Jana Duggar courtship rumors have been circulating non-stop on social media.

Generally, fans want what they feel is best for Jana, but at times the tone of the discussion can get more than a little overbearing.

Case in point, the current obsession with Jana and Nathan Bates.

The Duggars have been close friends with the Bates family for several years, and the two clans share an awful lot in common.

The Bates also star in a reality series that focuses on their fundamentalist lifestyle and the difficulties they experience as a family of 21.

The Bates may have never reached the same level of fame as the Duggars, but it’s not hard to see 

As you may recall, fans were previously obsessed with the idea of Jana dating Lawson Bates.

Lawson and Jana are slightly closer in age, but both parties long ago made it clear that they’re not romantically involved.

And so, fans have shifted their focus to Lawson’s younger brother, 24-year-old Nathan, and the Duggar discussion boards on Reddit are currently buzzing with speculaiton about the potential couple.

The talk comes on the heels of reports of Jana courting Caleb Williams.

That relationship never materialized, so now fans are forcing Jana and Nathan together.

There’s no rhyme or reason to it, and it’s hard to imagine that Jana isn’t at least a little creeped out by the whole thing.

Some fans have skipped right over the hope that Jana and Nathan will get together and proceeded directly to expressing their disapproval of the relationship.

A relationship that, again, doesn’t actually exist in the real world.

“He’s younger and most likely less mature,” said one Reddit user.

“I think Jana is too smart for Nathan Bates. He seems like a nice guy, but not the brightest bulb,” commented another.

It’s enough to make you wonder if Jana has anything to say about her own love life.

While she hasn’t spoken on Nathan directly, she recently made it clear that she’s unattached.

“There have been different guys come along and ask but yeah it’s just not… they haven’t been the right one,” said Jana.

“I’m not just out to get married to the first one that comes along.”

So there you have it.

That should be enough to silence the rumors on social media … for about 15 minutes.

Dog Forced Into Overhead Bin Dies on Board United Flight

United Airlines has once again made news for all the wrong reasons.

And we mean the seriously wrong, disturbing, inhumane reasons.

Consider yourselves warned: the following story is truly horrifying…

Multiple news outlets are reporting that a family’s 10-month old French Bulldog died on board a flight from Houston to New York on Monday after a stewardess forced its owner to place the canine in an overhead bin.

The dog belonged to a woman named Catalina Castano, her 11-year-old daughter and her two-month-old son, who were traveling from Texas to LaGuardia Airport after visiting their father and husband, Brayan.

Per Buzzfeed, Castano carried her puppy, Kokito, with her in a standard pet carrier and at first placed the pet under the seat in front of her.

Brayan Castano says his wife paid the pet carrier fee ahead of time, yet a flight attendant still insisted that the dog reside in the overhead bin throughout the trip.

“My wife repeatedly asked her to let her keep the dog by her feet,” Brayan Castano says, adding:

“She then asked her if the dog would be OK. The flight attendant wouldn’t let her keep Kokito by her feet and assured her that he would be fine. Witnesses can attest to that.”

Indeed, witnesses have attested to that.

Maggie Gremminger was seated behind Castano and her kids and told People Magazine the following:

After the flight attendant asked her to move [the bag] above, the woman adamantly refused, communicating her dog was in the bag. There was some back and forth before finally the flight attendant convinced her to move the carrier to the bin above.

Gremminger says the dog barked during takeoff and then frequently during initial turbulence.

After 30 minutes or so, however, the dog grew silent.

When the plane landed and Castano retrieved her bag… the dog was dead inside of it.

Gremminger relayed the subsequent awful scene to People:

“A stranger offered to hold her newborn while she sat on the floor, there in the airplane aisle. She was holding her dog and rocking back and forth. Her daughter was also crying.

“People who could not see what was happening were confused as to what was going on.

“I tried to encourage people to let them off first but it was confusing and so we waited for the rows to filter out. It was absolutely horrible.”

With this story having gone viral, airline spokesperson Maggie Schmerin has provided the following statement to the press:

This was a tragic accident that should never have occurred, as pets should never be placed in the overhead bin.

We assume full responsibility for this tragedy and express our deepest condolences to the family and are committed to supporting them.

We are thoroughly investigating what occurred to prevent this from ever happening again.

Brayan Castano tells Buzzfeed that his family is crushed by the loss of their dog, who would have turned a year old on April 30.

He says his wife and daughter haven’t stopped crying, concluding:

“This type of ‘accident’ should never happen.

“Why is it that the flight attendant didn’t know the airline in cabin pet policy? We feel we’ve lost a family member. Nothing can remedy that.”

Back in April, United was also in the news after a passenger was left battered and bruised after being forcibly removed from his seat.

This same airline also booted a girl off a flight last year because she was wearing leggings.

Student Claims Airline Forced Her to Flush Emotional Support Hamster Down Toilet

A Florida college student says she was left in tears late last year after a Spirit Airlines employee said she wasn’t permitted to bring her emotional support hamster on board a flight.

Yes, her emotional support hamster.

Before you laugh at this story, however, keep reading down below. It’s actually pretty sad…

According to The Miami Herald, Belen Aldecosea, a 21-year old from South Florida, was flying home from college due to an urgent medical issue in November.

She says she checked with Spirit on multiple occasions prior to the day of her flight and was assured that the hamster, Pebbles, would be allowed on the plane.

(Yes, Belen also says, a doctor certified the hamster as an emotional support companion. We assume this means she had a note from the physician.)

However, upon arriving at the Baltimore airport, Aldecosea was told the opposite.

She was told that Pebbles could not accompany her on her trip.

With no friends or family members anywhere in the area, and being too young to rent a car, Aldecosea says she was at a loss about how to proceed.

She claims an airline employee suggested she flush Pebbles down a toilet.

“One of the representatives started giving me little tips like, ‘Oh you should just leave her, or flush her down the toilet,’” Aldecosea told The Herald.

She didn’t want to murder little Pebbles, but Aldecosea explained to the newspaper that she didn’t have “any other options.”

Therefore, crying uncontrollably, she went through with the recommended act, figuring it was more humane than releasing Pebbles outside, only for him to eventually get hit by a car.

“She was scared. I was scared,” Aldecosea told the publication. “It was horrifying trying to put her in the toilet.”

We can only imagine.

Aldecosea has hired an attorney and is considering filing a lawsuit against Spirit Airlines for the conflicting information that she says led her to flush her emotional support pet.

In response to Aldecosea’s allegation, Spirit released the following statement on Thursday:

After researching this incident, we can say confidently that at no point did any of our agents suggest this Guest (or any other for that matter) should flush or otherwise injure an animal. It is incredibly disheartening to hear this Guest reportedly decided to end her own pet’s life.

Our reservation representative, unfortunately, did misinform the Guest that a hamster was permitted to fly as an emotional support animal on Spirit Airlines.

When the Guest appeared with the hamster at the airport, our agents offered and the Guest accepted an opportunity to take a later flight, so she had time to find other accommodations for the animal.

Our records indicate she was scheduled to take the 10:39 am flight on Nov. 21, but ended up taking the 7:42 pm flight that day.

We did offer the Guest a voucher for the inconvenience, but we never heard back from her.

This story has gone viral because… well… an emotional support hamster was involved.

But also because airlines of late have been cracking down on emotional support pets in general.

Kailyn Lowry vs. Briana DeJesus: Teen Mom 2 Co-Stars Forced to Pick Sides?!

Now that Javi Marroquin and Briana DeJesus are broken up, you might think that the feud between Briana and Kailyn Lowry would come to a close. 

But this beef started before Briana hooked up with Javi, and now it looks like it’ll continue now that the relationship is through.

Briana slammed Javi and Kailyn in an epic social media tirade last week.

It seems her tantrum was spurred by Javi’s appearance on Kailyn’s podcast, so it’s appropriate that Kail is reportedly planning on firing back on the next episode of Coffee Convos.

“Briana’s twitter meltdown was 100 percent directed at Kail,” a source close to the situation tells Radar Online.

“Javi is expected to come back on the podcast in the next couple of weeks, as well as Leah [Messer] and [Teen Mom 3 star] McKenzie [McKee],” the insider adds.

“They could not believe what was coming out of Briana’s mouth and are definitely going to defend Kail!”

Yes, it seems Briana messed with the bull and will soon receive the horns.

She may have deleted the tweets in which she instructed Kailyn to “suck my d-ck,” but it seems the damage had already been done.

Kailyn has been on Teen Mom 2 much longer than Briana, and it seems the stars from the entire franchise our choosing her side.

Sure, Briana might have Jenelle Evans in her corner, due mainly to the fact that Jenelle and Kailyn have been feuding for years, but is that really an advantage?

Apparently, what outraged Kailyn the most was the fact that Briana called her out for reaching out privately in hopes of keeping their feud off social media.

“Do not ever call my phone at 7am talking about we need to leave social media alone when it comes to our issues, yet you are the first one to use my name to gain listeners,” DeJesus tweeted.

“I’ll say suck my d-ck whenever I want to and to whoever I want.”

She may regret that remark, as Lowry is reportedly prepared to go nuclear:

“Briana started this battle and she is going to get what’s coming to her,” says the source.

“Kail’s fans are very upset over this and so is her friends. No one is going to let Briana get away with what she said,”

McKayla Maroney Sues USA Gymnastics: They Forced Me to Stay Silent!

In October, McKayla Maroney revealed that she’d been molested by her team doctor, Larry Nassar. That makes her one of more than 140 survivors who accuse him of the same thing.

From the outset, it’s been strongly hinted that there were people who knew about Nassar’s sexual predation and kept quiet.

Now, McKayla’s taking action against the people whom she accuses of covering up a monster in their midst.

McKayla is only one of many young women who have accused Dr. Nassar of molesting them when they were girls, preying upon them under the guise of “treatment.”

Dr. Nassar has been sentenced for child porn charges, and has pleaded guilty to molesting 10 girls.

Obviously, that’s just a drop in the awful bucket beside the number of women who accuse him.

Wednesday, McKayla Maroney filed a lawsuit against USA Gymnastics.for the role that she says that they played in covering up Dr. Nassar’s monstrous deeds.

As part of a financial settlement (of a reported sum of $ 1.25 million) so that McKayla could get needed psychological treatments, USA Gymnastics allegedly included a non-disclosure agreement.

Maroney’s lawyer says that USA Gymnastics forced this provision so that “it could further conceal and shield from public scrutiny, outside investigation, and law enforcement, the true nature of Nassar’s horrific sexual abuse of minors.”

Dr. Nassar’s misdeeds are not really in question. Again, this is a man who has already confessed to multiple counts of molestation.

“Plaintiff alleges that Defendant USAG had a plan to keep the sexual abuse of Nassar quiet, and allow Nassar to quietly leave USAG, further silencing his victims.”

To be fair, apparently USA Gymnastics contacted the FBI with at least some information on Larry Nassar, but allegedly failed to raise any kind of public alarm.

Which may have allowed him to find new victims.

The NDA would then appear to be a measure intended to conceal any wrongdoing by USA Gymnastics — hiding their mistake in hiring Nassar and also hoping to bury his misdeeds forever.

If you’re thinking gee, how can McKayla speak up on this if she signed a non-disclosure agreement? … well, funny thing about that.

(Funny probably isn’t the right word, here)

McKayla Maroney lives in California, where survivors of child sexual abuse — like McKayla — cannot be forced to sign NDAs as part of a settlement.

Which is probably why McKayla’s attorney, John Manly, had zero kind words to say about the agreement:

He referred to it as “hypocritical, immoral, and in this case illegal.”

We’re no legal scholars, but it sounds like he’s right.

Manly had further choice words for USA Gymnastics, and specifically for whoever among them new about Dr. Nassar but allegedly prioritized avoiding public embarrassment, allowing him to go on and find new prey at the University of Michigan.

“Those responsible for this should be removed from the Olympic movement and USA Gymnastics.”

That sounds fair. As punishment and as a deterrent, so that this will hopefully never happen again.

“If they would treat one of the most famous athletes in world like this, how poorly would they treat a recreational gymnast abused by her coach.”

That’s a really good point. McKayla Maroney is a household name. She’s met the President. (Well, the good one, from last year)

Look at how hard McKayla is having to fight for justice, and she’s a celebrity.

Someone with no celebrity status would surely be much more intimidated — by Dr. Nassar and by any attempts to shush them by USA Gymnastics.

With more and more sex monsters being exposed every day, we hope that the world will become a safer place for women and girls.

But that’s going to take time.

It’s also going to take these predatory men, and the people who helped keep their secrets, facing real consequences.

That, we think, is what McKayla aims to do.

Jennifer Hudson: My Ex Forced Our Son to SPY On Me!

When news first broke that Jennifer Hudson had split from David Otunga and filed for a restraining order, the world wondered what had happened.

Had he been abusive? Or had, as David Otunga’s defenders suggest, Jennifer Hudson made the move purely to try to secure custody of their 8-year-old.

New details about the grounds on which Jennifer Hudson sought the protective order paint a disturbing picture. And it involves their son.

At the time of the split, Jennifer Hudson’s rep told People:

“They have been in the process of ending their relationship for a number of months.”

So this wasn’t all overnight.

But what prompted the announcement?

“Today, Jennifer requested and received a protective order against her ex-fiancé. Jennifer’s actions are solely taken in the best interest of their son.”

Protective orders are no laughing matter.

But Otunga’s attorney paints a different picture:

“Mr. Otunga has never abused or harassed Ms. Hudson or their son, and it is unfortunate, especially in today’s climate, that she would feel the need to make these false allegations against him.”

Well, that’s about what you’d expect to hear from his lawyer. That’s literally the guy’s job.

“Mr. Otunga looks forward to his day in court and in being awarded the residential care of the parties’ only child.”

It sounds like David Otunga Jr. — the couple’s 8-year-old — can’t look forward to joint family outings or amicable parents.

But if Jennifer Hudson’s allegations are true, maybe that’s for the best.

RadarOnline reports that Jennifer Hudson accused David Otunga of “increasingly aggressive, threatening, and harassing behavior.”

She says that it’s not only been directed towards her, but towards the couple’s son.

Hudson had also accused Otunga of displaying a “bad temper” and going on “aggressive tirades,” displaying unpredictable behavior and even “verbal and physical abuse” during their breakup.

Some people change when you enter a relationship. Others wait to change until things in the relationship go south.

One disturbing (but thankfully nonviolent) incident to which Jennifer Hudson refered took place just a little over a week ago, on November 15th.

Hudson alleges that Otunga enlisted the couple’s 8-year-old son to spy on his mother, out of paranoid fears that Jennifer Hudson has been cheating with her producer.

(Of course, if the couple has been in the process of breaking up for months, it wouldn’t be cheating, now, would it?)

RadarOnline quotes Jennifer Hudson accusing David Otunga of secretly instructing their son “to scan the room with the camera on his iPad in order for David to see who was present at the recording studio with us.”

Hudson was at the Chicago Recording Company.

Jennifer Hudson’s allegations continue:

“David then said, ‘Don’t let your mom’s boyfriend f—ing touch you.”

For the record, Jennifer Hudson says that she’s not dating the producer; the two are friends and colleagues.

Quite frankly, it wouldn’t matter even if Jennifer Hudson were in a sexual relationship with her producer.

Enlisting an 8-year-old boy to spy on his mother is not appropriate under any circumstances.

Otunga’s attorney claims to RadarOnline that Jennifer Hudson is making it all up:

“Jennifer is lying about everything!”

“As far as David catching Jennifer cheating with this producer, he didn’t need to catch her cheating.”

“She has been with another man for several months. My client’s only concern was the fact that Jennifer was keeping her son out late on school nights with her and her boyfriend.”

Otunga’s lawyer has said that Jennifer Hudson is trying to portray him as aggressive, when he counters that Otunga is in fact a Harvard Law graduate.

Some people might make the classist assumption that a lawyer with an Ivy League education can’t also be an abuser. Countless people could tell you otherwise.

It sounds like this couple’s custody disagreement is going to be long and drawn-out.

Ben Affleck: Forced to Submit to Drug Testing in Order to See His Kids?

It’s been a tough month for Ben Affleck.

Already dodging rumors that he’s been drinking again following his most recent stint in rehab, Affleck now finds himself involved in the biggest scandal in recent Hollywood history.

As you’ve no doubt heard by now, famed film producer Harvey Weinstein has been accused of sexual assault by numerous women who claim he repeatedly abused his power in order to take advantage of them.

Affleck condemned Weinstein for his actions, but now, multiple women who have worked with the Oscar winner over the years say that Ben’s statement is simply part of an effort to exonerate himself from any blame.

First, Rose McGowan claimed that Affleck is lying when he says he only recently learned of Weinstein’s misconduct.

Shortly thereafter, actress Hilarie Burton accused Affleck of groping her when she was just a 20-year-old co-host on MTV’s TRL.

Affleck has yet to respond to the allegations against him, but it’s safe to assume he’s in damage control mode.

And now, it looks as though he may have suffered another high-profile setback, this one having to do with his tumultuous split from Jennifer Garner.

Though Affleck and Garner finalized their divorce over the summer, the issue of custody of the couple’s three children remains somewhat unsettled due to recent developments in Affleck’s personal life.

Sources tell Radar Online that Jen is deeply concerned about Ben’s drinking, and in order to ensure that her children will be safe while spending time at his house, she’s reportedly asked the court to force Affleck to submit to drug and alcohol testing.

“Jen has put her foot down and says either Ben submits to drug testing — or he can forget about seeing the kids for a sleepover,” an insider revealed to the site.

“It breaks her heart to see Ben in liquor stores more than he goes to church.”

A bit of a dubious comment, as Ben’s never been much of a churchgoer, as far as we know, but it’s entirely believable that Jen would demand that her ex prove he’s clean before she’ll sign off on him taking the kids for extended periods of time.

“Now she wants him to prove he’s completely clean of drugs and that he’s given up his partying ways. He was such a big party guy before, and he’s slipped up a few times since,” says the informant.

“Jen’s not taking any chances. The kids come first, as always. She’s giving Ben no excuses — or second chances.”

There’s no word on whether Affleck’s involvement in the Weinstein scandal influenced Jen’s decision, but we’re guessing the actress is none too happy about Ben’s latest controversy.
