The Voice Recap: The Top 8 Perform!

The Voice Season 13 is close to its conclusion, and after a double elimination last week, it became clear to the final eight contestants that they needed to up their game if they wanted to make it to finale night.

It is getting more difficult to benchmark the contestants given that the weaker competitors are out of the competitive loop.

Adam Cunningham (Team Adam) – “I’m Already There”

Adam shocked audiences last week by managing to escape the bottom three, and you could tell it instilled some confidence in him after circling the drain for so long.

Adam was told he could choose his songs, and that gave him yet another boost. It’s a real shame when some acts lose out on points because of terrible song choices.

His performance was an excellent portrayal of his talents, and proved he still has a lot left to give the competition. He should make it to next week.

Davon Fleming (Team Jennifer) – “Gravity”

Davon is one of the only competitors this season who can flawlessly execute the high notes, so it seemed odd that he went with a John Mayer song.

Maybe he wanted to show off a different side to his voice, and it worked. Everything about the performance was different from his previous ones, and that’s a good thing.

Red Marlow (Team Blake) – “Go Rest High On That Mountain”

Red has got to be one of the most consistent performers in the history of the series. His latest take on a Vince Gill classic was littered with set pieces that added to the whole performance in a positive way.

From the country vocals to the brilliant intonation, it was one of the best of the night.

Keisha Renee (Team Blake) – “What Hurts the Most”

Keisha took to the stage and owned it in winning fashion with a number that did not seem to belong to a specific genre, but it showed off her vocal prowess.

She took the feedback from Rascal Flatts to heart and that’s about all the coaches could ask for at this stage.

Chloe Kohanski (Team Blake) – “I Want to Know What Love Is”

For someone who has been killing it every week, this performance was not all that. Chloe has been receptive to feedback all season long, but it seems like she forgot the memo that you can’t try and replicate performances like the one Hunter Plake did on Season 12.

She was still one of the better performers on the night, but it was a disappointment.

Noah Mac (Team Jennifer) – “River”

Where did this performance even come from? Like, Noah has been decent and all, but this one blew me away. It was infectious, enthralling and exciting all at the same time.

If he does not make it to the final, there will likely be a whole lot of people going crazy.

Addison Agen (Team Adam) – “Both Sides Now”

In a strange twist of fate, much of the middling performers emerged as the top performers during Monday night’s telecast. Addison emerged from the pack in a big way with a Joni Mitchell classic.

She put her own spin on it, and it worked in her favor.

Brooke Simpson (Team Miley) – “Faithfully”

Leave it to Brooke to make us tear up at the close of the episode. Brook went with a Journey classic, and what she delivered was somewhat extraordinary.

Will this last-minute change of pace secure her some more votes?

What do you think about the performances?

Sound off below!

Ariana Grande: Watch The Hero We Need Perform in Paris!

Knowing how to go on with your life is one of the most important things in the face of terrible tragedies.

But it"s even more vital in the aftermath of a terrorist attack.

That"s why it"s so good to see that Ariana Grande has been able to carry on with her Dangerous Woman Tour.

The bombing attack at her Manchester concert was horrible.

22 people died, including an 8-year-old girl.

It was a vicious attack using an explosive that sent improvised shrapnel — including nails — hurtling into nearby victims.

Many of Ariana"s concert attendees are minors, including younger children. A lot of parents were also present.

The attacker no doubt chose the victims and vanue for maximum effect.

In response, Ariana had initially canceled her Dangerous Woman tour, issuing a statement about how devastated she was.

It"s so important to remember that Ariana wasn"t just feeling sorry for her fans who were dead, injured, and traumatized.

She was also there. She was also a victim and also a survivor of the attack.

That"s always going to leave an emotional mark, no matter how strong someone is.

Trauma is powerful and ugly and it can prevent people from living their lives.

Ariana"s memorial performance in Manchester featured numerous other performers, including Miley Cyrus and Justin Bieber.

One Love Manchester was an overall success and a heartwarming tribute to the victims, including both those who made it and those who did not.

It was safe and sent out a powerful message that healing is possible even in the wake of horror.

There"s something to be said about the state of the world when the likes of Justin Bieber does more to support the British people than the US President at the time.

The good news new, for multiple reasons, is that Ariana"s tour has officially resumed.

She performed in Paris, France, going through a series of current and older hits but also covering "Somewhere Over the Rainbow."

A beautiful, hopeful anthem that older people who (for whatever reason) aren"t her fans might find more accessible than, say, "Side To Side."

Here"s why that"s a good thing:

First of all, Ariana"s fans deserve to get to see her Dangerous Woman concert. Not just because they"ve been waiting for it, but because the evil deeds of evil men shouldn"t rob people all over the world of their happiness.

Second of all, it shows other aspiring terrorists, whether they"re already part of groups like Daesh or are simply disaffected losers who "self-radicalize" because they want to feel important, that their efforts won"t work.

That means that their efforts to demonize Muslims living in predominantly Christian countries won"t work.

But also that their attempts to strike blows at cultural values that they don"t share won"t work.

We are all defiant in the face of terrorism, as we should be.

Not for nothing, but continuing with her tour also means that Ariana Grande herself is working through her trauma.

After everything, we would have completely understood if she"d just decided to curl up in her house for a few years.

Instead, she visited surviving victims in their hospital rooms, held a memorial concert, and is going to continue to bring joy to the world.

She truly is the hero we need.

Now, watch her moving performance — and that massive, undeterred audience.

Ariana grande terrorism wont stop my dangerous woman tour

The Schuyler Sisters Perform America the Beautiful, Honor "Sisterhood"

The Schuyler Sisters made quite the name for themselves just before the Patriots and Falcons kicked things off in Super Bowl LI.

For those unaware, The Schuyler Sisters were comprised of Renee Elise Goldsberry, Jasmine Cephas Jones and Phillipa Soo, the three actress originated the roles of Angelica, Eliza and Peggy Schuyler in the hit musical Hamilton.

Some have referred to them as the Destiny"s Child of Broadway.

Okay, maybe that"s just us.

The the talented trio was reunited Sunday in Houston during Fox’s live Super Bowl pregame show for an amazing performance of “America the Beautiful.”

As they took the podium, the three impressive stars delivered a rousing performance, replete with tight harmonies and soaring vocals.

And also with one notable addition.

The singers earned a huge round  applause when they added the word “sisterhood” to the following line:

“God shed his grace on thee/ And crown thy good with brotherhood/ From sea to shining sea!”

Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda was among those to praise his former costars on social media, writing simply "AND SISTERHOOD."

But you can expect this change to elicit a different reaction from others on Twitter and various social media platforms.

Goldsberry (who earned a Tony Award for her portrayl), Soo and Cephas Jones have all since left the already-iconic Broadway production.

Check out their "America the Beautiful" performance below. (And, while you"re here, also weigh in on Luke Bryan"s national anthem.)

Kanye West Not Asked to Perform at Trump"s Inauguration Because He"s Black?!

Don’t look now, but Donald Trump may have another scandal on his hands.

A big one. A bad one. A racist one.

OK, to set the stage for this latest monstrosity, let’s remember that Kanye West has been vocal about his support for Donald Trump these past few months.

In a concert shortly after the election, Kanye revealed that while he skipped out on voting this time around, if he had voted, he would have voted for Trump.

Then in December, Kanye met with Trump in New York for … reasons. We really don’t want to speculate too much on what could have gone down between those two.

Afterwards, they posed for photos, and Trump claimed that he and Kanye have “been friends for a long time.”

Kanye later tweeted a photo of a gift that Trump had given him: a copy of the Time’s Person of the Year issue featuring Trump that he’d signed “To Kanye: you are a great friend.”

Now that all that nonsense is fresh in your mind, let’s also remember that poor Donald had a hell of a time finding artists to perform for his inauguration.

Eventually he managed to book 3 Doors Down and Toby Keith, along with a few other acts.

There’d been some speculation that he could have gotten Kanye to perform, since they’re besties and all, and since Kanye is one of the very few notable artists willing to publicly support him.

But now, the chair of the Presidential Inaugural Committee, Tom Barrack, is explaining the issue with Kanye performing for Trump.

And it is going to get ugly in here.

Good ol’ Tom says that while Kanye has “been great,” and while “he considers himself a friend of the President-elect,” it’s imply “not the venue” for the rapper.

And that’s because “It’s going to be typically and traditionally American.”

If you deduced that Kanye wasn’t asked to perform because he’s black, well, you’re not alone on your assumptions.

Over on Twitter, people are ripping this statement apart.

“What’s traditionally American?” one person asked. “WHITE?”

“This guy isn’t even aware of how racist he sounds,” another commented.

One Twitter user pointed out that “Rap/hip hop is American music. ‘Traditionally American’ is code for not ethnic/black/urban,” and another asked “Uh, you guys know which country invented hip hop?”

“That’s a scary level of racism right there,” someone stated. “And you can tell he doesn’t think it’s racist.”

In closing, one more Twitterer said “In other words, they don’t want ya black as there lmao!”

And honestly, is there any other way to interpret that statement? Because if there is, we’re having trouble coming up with it.

Dark times ahead, everyone. Look out.

Azealia Banks to Donald Trump: PLEASE Let Me Perform at Your Inauguration!

Azealia Banks has never really delivered on her early promise as a hitmaker (In fact, she has has yet to attain “one hit wonder” status.)

Even so, she’s managed to remain relevant by starting fights with vastly more famous celebrities and genuinely behaving like a  person who’s been given a platform despite having flushed her meds several weeks ago.

Amazingly, despite the fact that she’s been screaming for attention in new and increasingly batsh-t ways for several years now, Azealia still has the power to surprise us.

Take, for example, the video she posted last month, in which she revealed that she’s a witch who sacrifices chickens in the closer of her New York City apartment.

We don’t think anyone was that coming.

And then there are Ms. Banks’ political views.

During the election the rapper’s followers were shocked to learn that Azealia is a Trump supporter.

It’s surprising in the sense that she’s expressed liberal views in the past, but so much when you consider the fact that Azealia is an angry racist.

Then it makes perfect sense.

Anyway, Banks is pissed – pissed! – that Trump’s inauguration is being headlines by 3 Doors Down and some woman who came in second on America’s Got Talent, and she would like to personally make the entire country say “Who?” by taking the stage herself:

“Saw the entertainment line for the inauguration it made me very upset. This is an EPIC moment in modern history and it should def be celebrated in style"” Banks wrote on Facebook yesterday.

“I would love to perform at the inauguration.”

Most of Azealia’s fans reacted with confusion (the guy who commented, “The devil is in this post” seemed to just about sum up the consensus), but Banks has at least one fellow Z-list Trumpeter in her corner.

Noted professional troll Milo Yiannopoulis commented that Banks is his “first, second and only choice” to perform at the inauguration.

Azealia, demonstrating the political acumen that’s made her sought-after voice of reason in troubled times, replied:

“Me and you in the front row looking MAAAAD cute omg we would break the internet.”

And people thought Trump wouldn’t bring our country together.

Already, he’s uniting bigots with nothing in common but their hatred and insecurity!

Fifth Harmony Perform for the First Time Without Camila Cabello

Fifth Harmony may have lost Camila Cabello, but they are still up there as one of the hottest groups on the planet.

The group took to the stage at the People"s Choice Awards for their first performance since the sensational departure of Cabello.

Dinah Jane, Normani Kordei, Ally Brooke Hernandez and Lauren Jauregui performed "Work from Home."

You could definitely notice the lack of Camila"s high pitched vocals throughout.

That"s not to say the performance was bad. In fact, it was pretty great.

Losing a member must have been tough on the other girls, but at least they are still able to continue on as a band.

All of the girls are super talented in the vocal department.

That"s probably why they took home the People’s Choice Award trophy for Favorite Group.

Ever since Camila quit last month, fans have wondered what would become of the group.

Her departure was hardly amicable when you consider the fact that she pretty much just disappeared from the group overnight.

Have a look at the full video of the performance below!

Rockettes: FORCED to Perform at Donald Trump Inauguration?

There have been a lot of jokes about what a horrendous year 2016 has been (Don’t talk about it in the past tense yet, or it’ll grandmother and your favorite singer in one fiery head-on collision.), but we think much of the criticism has been unfair.

After all, we already have reason to believe that 2017 will be much, much worse.

We may not know exactly what unique horrors lie in store for us in the coming 12 months, but we do know we won’t make it three weeks before Putin’s puppet pops a figurative squat on the Capitol steps and wipes with the Constitution.

Yes, whether you like it or not (statistically, you probably don’t) Donald Trump’s inauguration will take place on January 20.

Usually, entertainers consider performing on Inauguration Day to be a incredible honor, but Team Trump has had difficulty securing any talent at all, much less the yuuuuge names that Trump would like to see on stage.

Thus far, only three acts have been confirmed for the Donald’s Inauguration Day:

The Mormon Tabernacle Choir, which is surprising, considering how much Trump struggled against independent candidate Evan McMullin in Utah.

Jackie Evancho, which is also surprising, considering that by finishing in second place on her season of America’s Got Talent, Evancho joins the rest of the world on Trump’s list of losers.

And the Radio City Rockettes, who are the most surprising selection of all, as they’re basically being coerced into getting on stage to sport massive grins and get their kick-line on.

A Rockette named Phoebe Price took to Instagram to express her displeasure with being forced to perform at the inauguration, and her plea for understanding has gone viral today:

Donald Trump at the Third Debate

“I usually don’t use social media to make a political stand but I feel overwhelmed with emotion,” Price writes.

“Finding out that it has been decided for us that Rockettes will be performing at the Presidential inauguration makes me feel embarrassed and disappointed.”

“The women I work with are intelligent and are full of love and the decision of performing for a man that stands for everything we’re against is appalling,”

“I am speaking for just myself but please know that after we found out this news, we have been performing with tears in our eyes and heavy hearts #notmypresident”

An email that was sent from the Rockettes union to the performers went public today, and many have expressed shock over the group basically being informed that they have no choice but to take the stage:

“Everyone is entitled to her own political beliefs, but there is no room for this in the workplace,” the email reads.

“If you are not full time, you do not have to sign up to do this work. If you are full time, you are obligated.”

The women are further informed that any “boycott” of the event will be considered “invalid.”

Trump, meanwhile, has been tweeting about how many celebrities are clamoring to be invited to the event – without naming any names, of course:

“The so-called ‘A’ list celebrities are all wanting tixs to the inauguration, but look what they did for Hillary, NOTHING,” Trump tweeted. “I want the PEOPLE!” the President-elect tweeted this morning.

Chrissy Teigen and many other celebs have already taken to social media to inform the rest of the world that Trump is completely full of it, but you knew that already.
