Presidential Alert Sent to 225 Million Irritated Cell Phone Users
We don"t often think this, but…
…thank goodness for social media.
On Wednesday, October 3, the first-ever test of the national Presidential Alert system meant that about 225 million individuals received a message from the White House.
It read as follows:
THIS IS A TEST of the National Wireless Emergency Alert System. No action is needed.
Considering who lives in the White House these days, such a message sowed chaos, confusion, annoyance and fear across this great country.
But it also sowed some hilarious reactions on Twitter, many of which we"ve collected below…
1. Wait, What Was This?!?
2. Here is the Alert
3. The Internet Reacts!
4. U Up?
5. Who Knew Trump was a Fan?

Jeremy Roloff: Cell Phones are Satan"s Creation!
Jeremy Roloff believes that cell phones may be a detriment to your health.
Not your actual health. He’s not among those who think these devices may give you cancer.
But the Little People, Big World star is convinced that the use of one’s cell phone may prove fatal to one’s… love life?
Yes.
“Phones are ruining our love stories. I believe that the single most lethal problem concerning our love stories is our phones,” Jeremy wrote on Instagram last week.
We’d point out here that Jeremy most likely wrote this statement on a cell phone.
And also that a majority of his followers, on whom he relies for various business purposes, likely read that statement on a cell phone.
But we don’t need to — because a handful of these same followers already pointed out the delicious irony at work here.
“Ummm…U do realize that you’d have like half as many followers without phone, right?” asked @ldwyer69.
Added @yeaheboos13: “Where would beating50percent be without our phones?!?”
(This is a reference to Audrey and Jeremy’s “marriage blog,” on which they sell many types of merchandise.)
Jeremy tried to defend his anti-cell phone stance as follows:
“They are increasingly stealing our conversations, our romance, our contentment, our time, our special moments, and our attention. Which is everything healthy relationships need.”
The TLC star went on to say:
“It’s a tragedy. It’s something we must control. And it’s immediate.”
Many people have hearkened back here to the time that Audrey Roloff told fans Jesus wanted them to be on the Internet less frequently…
… in a message she wrote while using the Internet.
We don’t doubt that the Roloffs have positive intentions here.
There’s certainly something to be said for checking one’s phone less often and appreciating the moment while in the moment more often.
But it’s a tad extreme to say that the “single most lethal problem concerning our love stories is our phones,” as Jeremy does in this Instagram entry.
It’s also a tad hypocritical when Audrey and Jeremy are on their phones ALL the time.
They are constantly updating their social media pages with photos of daughter Ember — and, don’t get us wrong, we’re VERY happy they do this.
That little girl is such a cutie!
We very much appreciate how candid Jeremy and Audrey can be online, but they need to come down off their soapbox at times.
They don’t know EVERYthing about life and love and religion. They just don’t.
“I just posted over on @beating50 about boundaries and phone usage,” concluded Jeremy.
“If you want some good ideas on where to begin with controlling your phone instead of it controlling you – read the comments. Do you have phone boundaries?
“We’ll be sharing ours later this week.”

Jordin Sparks: Stepsister Dies After Battle with Sickle Cell Anemia
Not even the saying, “when it rains, it pours,” is equipped to describe this situation.
Jordin Sparks and her family are suffering from an incalculable loss. Jordin herself has lost four loved ones in one week.
One of them was her younger stepsister, who has passed away at just 16.
This should be a happy time in Jordin Sparks’ life.
After all, she just got secretly married … and she’s pregnant!
Unfortunately, Jordin’s step-sister, Bryanna Jackson-Frias, has died at 16 from complications resulting from sickle-cell anemia.
If you’re not familiar, sickle cell anemia involves red blood cells adhering to the walls of blood vessels. This obstructs blood from reaching tissues sufficiently, which can cut off oxygen.
As you can imagine, the results can be damaged tissues as well as serious pain. Bryanna knew this battle for her entire life.
But now that fight is over.
Jordin Sparks’ mother, Jodi Jackson, announced the sad news on social media:
“Bry went peacefully to Heaven. I can’t help to think [that] she’s smiling just like this. Thank you all for your prayers.”
That is heartbreaking.
Before Bryanna passed away, Jordin Sparks had taken to Instagram to share a plea with her followers.
Following the tragic news of Bryanna’s passing, Jordin once again shared her pain with fans.
“Four Angels in a week. My heart is just so heavy & broken. I’m in shock, numb and feel everything all at the same time.”
Because her step-sister is not the only loved one she lost.
“Leah & Rasual (one of my closest friends and her amazing other half who also was a great friend), Bryanna (my step sister) and Q (my little cousin), you were such bright lights in this crazy world.”
We mentioned that Rasual Butler and his wife died in a car wreck.
The idea of losing so many people in one week is devastating. Especially when it’s so sudden. And especially when two of them are family.
Jordin’s post continues.
“You made everyone better just by knowing them. And your smiles made anyone’s day better. The world is less sparkly without you in it.”
Devastating to lose them in such rapid succession that she can’t even single them out to speak about them.
“Rest In Peace and Power. I love you forever. Find Miles and hug him for me. [black heart emoji]”
No one should have to grapple with this degree of loss in one year, let alone one week.
Jordin Sparks ends her post with a plea to her fans and followers:
“Tomorrow is not promised to any of us. Don’t ever skip a chance to tell someone you appreciate them or how much you love them.”
She’s absolutely right.
“Please, please continue to cover their families and our family with thoughts and prayers. #unicornsdontdie #sicklecellsux”
Clearly, Jordin and her entire family — and everyone else who loved these four souls — need support now more than ever.
Grief is a long, complicated process that can sour every other experience.
We wish all of their loved ones all of the comfort that they deserve.

Aaron Hernandez Asked to Share Cell with Male Lover, Attorney Confirms
A new piece of information regarding the life and recent death of former NFL standout Aaron Hernandez has surfaced.
And it centers around his alleged gay lover.
As previously reported, multiple outlets have claimed that Hernandez lived somewhat of a double life over the years.
He was engaged to Shayanna Jenkins, with whom the convicted killer shared a four-year old daughter.
But he also may have been a bisexual, possibly even murdering Odin Lloyd in 2013 to keep this sexual preference a secret.
There hadn’t been any rumblings about Hernandez being attracted to both men and women during his trial for Lloyd’s murder or his subsequent trial for a double murder in 2012 (for which he was acquitted).
But a bombshell report surfaced late last week that claimed Hernandez penned three suicide notes prior to hanging himself inside a Massachusetts:
1. To Jenkins.
2. To his daughter.
3. To his prison boyfriend, a man named Kyle Kennedy.
And now a lawyer for Kennedy has spoken out about the slew of reports linking him to the one-time New England Patriots star.
Kennedy’s attorney alleges that Aaron requested to prison officials that he be placed in the same cell as his fellow inmate and purported lover.
“Aaron Hernandez had requested to the prison that my client, Kyle Kennedy, be his cellmate,” said Larry Army Jr. to The Daily Mail.
Army works as the managing partner of the Boston firm Army & Roche.
The attorney added that Kennedy (pictured above) was open to the idea, telling the British newspaper:
“If he was going to be in with someone else, why not Aaron Hernandez?”
The Daily Mail writes that it has reached out to Massachusetts Corrections Department spokesman Christopher Fallon for corroboration of this request.
The office has yet to comment on this report.
Kennedy, meanwhile, was imprisoned in 2015 for using a knife to rob a Cumberland Farms store in Northbridge, Massachusetts.
He pleaded down an original charge of armed and masked robbery to the lesser charge of armed robbery and received a sentence of three to five years.
Army says his client has not seen the suicide note Hernandez reportedly wrote to him.
Hernandez hanged himself in prison last Wednesday, April 19.
He had been serving a lifetime sentence behind bars, with no possibility for parole, due to his shooting of Lloyd.
Said a prison spokesman shortly after his death:
“Mr. Hernandez [hanged] himself utilizing a bed sheet that he attached to his cell window. [He] was in a single cell in a general population unit.”
“Mr. Hernandez also attempted to block his door from the inside by jamming the door with various items,” the spokesman said.
He also scrawled Bible verse John 3:16 on himself.
The former star tight end’s body was found around 3 a.m. and he was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital an hour later.
In the face of initial questions by some close to Hernandez over how he ended his once-promising life, the Worcester District Attorney’s Office has issued the following statement:
“Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Henry N. Nields performed an autopsy on Mr. Hernandez on Wednesday.
“[Neilds] concluded today that the manner of death was suicide and the cause asphyxia by hanging.”
The office added that investigators also discovered “cardboard jammed into the door tracks of his single-inmate cell to impede entry into the cell.”
Despite rumors circulating that suggested Aaron was murdered – which is own attorney implied – officials reached the following conclusion:
“There were no signs of a struggle, and investigators determined that Mr. Hernandez was alone at the time of the hanging.”

Aaron Hernandez Commits Suicide in Prison Cell
Aaron Hernandez, the former New England Patriots tight end who was found guilty of first-degree murder in 2015, has committed suicide.
According to prison officials, Hernandez hanged himself via a bed sheet while inside his cell at the Souza Baranowski Correctional Center in Massachusetts.
The 27-year old was just acquitted in a double murder case a few days ago.
His attorney even stating at the time that he believed Hernandez would also see his previous murder conviction overturned.
But it seem apparent that Hernandez did not agree with this assessment.
“Mr. Hernandez was in a single cell in a general population unit.
“Mr. Hernandez [hanged] himself utilizing a bed sheet that he attached to his cell window,” a representative for the Massachusetts Department of Corrections said in a statement.
Added this rep:
“Mr. Hernandez also attempted to block his door from the inside by jamming the door with various items.”
Prison sources say that Hernandez was discovered at 3:05 a.m. on Wednesday morning; those who came across his body tried to save his life at the time.
He was transported to a nearby hospital and pronounced dead at 4:07 a.m.
State Police are investigating the suicide and his family has been notified of what transpired.
Department of Corrections spokesman Christopher Fallon said Hernandez was not on a suicide watch because there was no indication he was considering harming himself.
He had not shown the typical signs of someone considering this course of action.
“If he had made any kind of statement, he would have not been in that unit,’’ Fallon told reporters.
He went on to say that investigators are poring over Hernandez’s cell in Unit G-2, yet thus far have not found anything that resembles a suicide note.
In April of 2015, Hernandez was found guilty by a jury of his peers of first degree in the death of semi-pro football player Odin Lloyd.
The former NFL star was also found guilty on gun and ammunition possession charges, receiving an automatic sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole at the time.
In an e-mail, Patriots spokesman Stacey James wrote that the team (who is actually visiting the White House on Wednesday in celebration of this year’s Super Bowl win) was aware of the death of their former tight end.
“We are aware of the reports, but I don’t anticipate that we will be commenting today,’’ James wrote.
Last Friday, Hernandez was found not guilty for the double murder of two men on a Boston street in 2012.
About a year earlier, however, he received his sentence in the Lloyd murder case.
The victim was a former friend who dated the sister of Hernandez’s longtime fiancee, Shayanna Jenkins; he was shot numerous times by the same kind of gun security footage showed Hernandez possessed.
After the double murder verdicts were read late last week, Hernandez turned to Jenkins and mouthed, “I love you.”
“I am very, very happy,” she later told the press of what had been decided in the courtroom that day.
Hernandez was the father of a four-year old girl with Jenkins and played for the Patriots from 2010 through 2012.

Inmates Break Out of Cell, Save Guard"s Life
We"re willing to guess you"ve never seen a video quite like this before.
Even those who watch Orange is the New Black on a regular basis.
Taken from surveillance cameras of the District Courts Building in Weatherford, Texas, it features a number of shackled inmates who break out of their basement holding cell.
But not for the reason you might think.
The clip depicts eight men walking over to a guard who has seemingly keeled over and is unconscious; it appears as if he"s suffered a heart attack.
Out of concern and panic, the prisoners bang on doors and shout to get the attention of anyone they can.
Deputies in the court located above the cell heard the commotion and nose on June 23 and quickly ran downstairs because they thought a fight had broken out, according to ABC affiliate WFAA.
They were understandably shocked to see the scene in front of them instead.
”We were worried they were going to come with guns drawn on us,” one of the inmates, Nick Kelton, told the network.
One of the inmates was found reaching for the guard’s radio, which was right next to his gun, but the deputies put everything together and realized the noble intentions taking place in that moment.
The prisoners were subsequently ushered back into the cell and one of the deputies administered CPR to his colleague.
Paramedics soon arrived and the guard – who is employed by a private contractor at the nearby Parker County jail – regained a pulse.
Pretty cool, huh?
Kelton, an admitted methamphetamine addict, said it “never crossed my mind not to help, whether he’s got a gun or a badge.”
He concluded: “If he falls down, I’m gonna help him."

Justin Bieber Sued for Alleged Cell Phone Destruction
Here’s a sentence we haven’t written in awhile:
Justin Bieber is in trouble with the law.
The artist is being sued for $ 100,000 by someone named Robert Earl Morgan because he claims The Biebs destroyed his cell phone during a party at Cle nightclub in Houston last month.
According to Morgan’s filed legal documents, he started filming Bieber with his phone once the superstar started chugging a beer bong.
Clearly an amateur at this move, Justin reportedly spilled beer all over himself and then grew angry when he saw Morgan capturing the embarrassing incident on camera.
Morgan alleges that Bieber grabbed his property and forcibly threw it to the ground, smashing it into pieces.
TMZ writes that Morgan is seeking up to $ 100,000 in damages because his SIM card was ruined in this act of vandalism.
This caused him to lose valuable business contacts, as well as sentimental picture.
Morgan also says the loss of his professional contacts has hurt him financially.
Neither Bieber nor anyone in his camp has commented on this allegation.
Back in 2014, Bieber often faced similar accusations.
He supposedly stole a woman’s cell phone in May of that year because she had snapped photos of him at a miniature golf course.
He was also once accused of battery against a member of the paparazzi because, again, that man was taking pictures of the star.
This latest alleged incident, meanwhile, occurred on the same night that Post Malone was accused of choking Bieber.
It later came out, however, that the two friends were just joking around.
But there’s nothing funny about the destruction of personal property… if Bieber really did do what he’s accused of doing here.
It’s the second time in a matter of days that Justin is at the center of a scandal.
PETA is also unhappy with the artist after he was caught stroking the fur of a chained-up tiger at his father’s engagement party last week.
Yes, Justin Bieber’s father had a chained-up tiger at his engagement party.
Might this go a long way toward explaining why Justin sometimes acts the way he sometimes acts?

Anonymous Releases Donald Trump"s Cell Phone & Social Security Numbers, Threatens Additional Attacks
Thus far, the Republican establishment and a slew of rival candidates have proven unable to stop Donald Trump, but it looks like the real estate mogul’s vanquished foes in the GOP will now be receiving assistance from a very unlikely source.
The loose “hacktivist” network Anonymous officially entered the fight against Trump moments ago by posting the above video which contains links to the Pastebin and Ghostbin pages containing such personal information as Trump’s cell phone and social security numbers.
“Now is the time to unite to fight fascism to show that we are very serious to stop any proposed Fourth Reich by the fascist Donald Trump,” says the ominous voice in the video.
“We have attached a gift of sorts that might be able to assist you all in independently investigating this would-be dictator. These are provided for informational purposes only.”
It’s a fitting prank, as Trump released Senator Lindsey Graham’s cell phone number back in the early days of his campaign (When we all thought he’d be a memory by the time of the Iowa caucuses! Ha!), but as a devastating data dump designed to help to bring down a presidential front-runner’s campaign, it’s a bit lame
Earlier this week, Anonymous threatened to expose a Ted Cruz prostitution scandal unless the Texas senator dropped out of the presidential race.
Obviously, Cruz remains in the race, and he has yet to suffer any consequences.
We guess when anyone can claim membership in your organization and you have no leadership structure, you run the risk of having your name associated with the occasional false promise.
But hey, you’ll always have a place in our hearts for Rick Rolling ISIS, Anonymous.
