Phaedra Parks Finally Reaches Divorce Settlement With Apollo Nida

Phaedra Parks can finally move on with her life, while Apollo Nida can continue to move on with new romance, Sherien Almufti

Yes, Parks and Nida have finally reached a divorce settlement. It only took them around three years, but it’s finally over.

It sure seemed like the divorce was going to be raging on until the end of time, but we’re happy to report they have now found a way to end their marriage.

According to TMZ, the settlement includes a parenting plan, so at least the former couple is covering all bases when it comes to bidding adieu to one another.

It was reported previously that Phaedra had a prenup. Prenups are generally in place to protect one or both parties from destroying their net worth if the marriage goes south.

The couple decided via the legal document how they would divide everything. That was in 2009, and now things are obviously not very good between the former power couple.

It was also reported just a few weeks ago that Apollo wanted the prenup voided. Now, it’s entirely plausible that his wealth has taken a nose dive in the aftermath of him being put in the slammer for money fraud.

Considering the fact that Phaedra became a fixture on The Real Housewives of Atlanta shortly after the marriage, and the drama surrounding Apollo’s money fraud scam, it seems evident Apollo is trying to ensure he has a decent pay packet to come out of the slammer with.

Obviously, we have no clue about what they did in the end. No details have been revealed, but what we do know is that they can move on with their lives.

Interestingly, with Phaedra Parks out of the show that made her a household name, there is no need for Sherien Almufti or Apollo Nida to appear on it again.

Let’s just say the new couple will probably go the Marriage Boot Camp route before long.

We have no idea what Phaedra will get up to now, but we’re sure she’ll be feeling a sigh of relief right about now.

What do you think about all of this?

Scheana Marie on Divorce Settlement: I Hate Giving Money to an Addict!

If you watch Vanderpump Rules online, then you’re likely aware that the brief marriage between Scheana Marie and Mike Shay didn’t exactly end on amicable terms.

Scheana and Shay’s divorce became public knowledge before we saw it fall apart on the show, but in the Vanderpump Season 5 finale (and the show’s 47-part reunion show), we finally found out just how ugly things really got.

Obviously, one of the main issues was Shay’s drug problem, but there were other factors in Scheana’s decision to split, as well.

For starters, it seems Shay had decided to devote his free time (which, as an unemployed dude, he had a lot of) to sexting other women and making terrible music with Nicole Arbour.

Unfortunately for Scheana, the divorce came just as she was starting to make some serious bank from her reality TV career.

She and Shay never signed a prenup, so naturally, she was forced to shell out a goodly amount of cash in the divorce, but it seems she feels it was all worth it in order to be free of a dude that was only dragging her down:

“Well, he got paid last year, so I would assume that’s already gone,” Scheana said in a recent discussion with WWE star Sean “X-Pac” Waltman (we live in strange times).

She added:

“He wasn’t a person who was ever really good with money. It was very amicable, and as much as I didn’t want to give $ 50 thousand to a person with a drug problem, I felt like… I don’t know, like he deserved it for just, you know, being a part of the show for so long and my life and my story.”

That’s actually awfully mature of Scheana.

Of course, these days she’s reportedly making close to half a million a season for Vanderpump (just one of her many revenue streams), so forking over 50 G’s to make a problem go away probably wasn’t all that hard on her.

She went on to say that she hoped Mike would be smart with the money – but she now fears he’s already blown it:

“And I’m like, look, I’m not trying to cut you out and leave you high and dry so like, here’s how much we have, is this OK? And he agreed,” Scheana said.

“And I was just like I recommend that you put $ 10 thousand into like SEP-IRA, start a retirement account or something that you know you can start getting interest on. And he was like, yeah that’s a great idea. I doubt he did that.”

She added:

“I don’t know, but I just hope that he’s doing something useful with it and not just wasting it like he wasted a lot of mine.”

Money aside, Scheana has indisputably “won” the divorce.

She’s already dating actor Robert Valletta, and she now gets to take the high road with meme-worthy comments about how she hopes he finds the contentment he’s searching for:

“I just wanted him to be happy,” Scheana told the wrestling dude.

“I put my life and my career on hold for the last couple years ‘cause I just wanted him to be happy. I wanted him to have everything, and I think that, I don’t know, maybe I did that a little too much.”

That comment is basically the divorce equivalent of a Mortal Kombat finishing move. #FlawlessVictory

Amber Heard: Stiffing Charities Out of Johnny Depp Divorce Settlement Cash?!

Shortly after Amber Heard filed for divorce from Johnny Depp, it became clear that the situation would be much uglier than your typical celebrity split.

Depp was accused of domestic violence, and Heard’s camp painted a picture of the beloved actor as a drunken abusive monster.

As is often the case in high-profile celebrity breakups, Heard was accused of going after Depp’s bank account.

She responded to those accusations in deft fashion by promising to donate her divorce settlement to two charities: the ACLU and Los Angeles Children’s Hospital.

The move was interpreted by many as a middle finger to both Depp and his supporters, Heard’s way of deflecting criticism and sending a clear, unmistakable message that she wasn’t in this for the money.

There were even reports that Heard was broke and essentially homeless as a result of her pledge, but remained unwavering in her intentions.

Now, however, TMZ is reporting that more than three months after the divorce was settled, neither charity has received the $ 7 million that Heard was awarded.

The site claims that each organization did receive an initial installment of $ 200,000, but that money was apparently sent to them directly by Depp, not Heard.

After Heard declared her plan to donate her settlement, Depp’s lawyers stated that the actor would cut out the middle man by issuing checks directly to the Children’s Hospital and the ACLU.

Heard was reportedly furious, as she not only felt that the move was Depp’s way of making himself out to be the good guy, she also saw it as an effort to score a massive tax write off.

Her attorneys put the kibosh on Depp’s plan to donate the cash himself, and neither organization has seen a dime in the months since.

It remains unclear, however, if the money dried up because it’s in Amber’s possession, or because it’s tied up in the appeals process.

Heard’s lawyers claim the couple has not signed settlement deal, but that they’re expected to do so this week.

After months of PR nightmares, we’re sure they’ll be signing some iron-clad non-disclosure agreements, as well, so we may never find out exactly how this plays out.

But whatever the case, two worthy organizations are about to receive two very large checks.

Student Who Knocked Up Teacher Awarded $6 Million Settlement

A former student who impregnated a high school teacher was awarded $ 6 million in a settlement, officials in Redlands, Calif., confirmed.

Vince Finaldi, an attorney for the former student, said the egregious conduct of the Redlands Unified School District warranted the payment.

“The size of this settlement represents the gravity of the damage done to this young victim and his family,” he said in a statement.

“It also highlights the extreme malfeasance and neglect by school officials who turned a blind eye to the criminal conduct of a teacher.”

Administrators, he reiterated, “failed to protect a student.”

Laura Whitehurst, 29, was arrested in July 2013 and charged with 41 felony counts of unlawful sex acts. Yes. Forty-one felony charges.

That could have meant up to 29 years in prison.

Ultimately, she pleaded guilty to four counts of unlawful sexual intercourse and two counts of oral copulation with a person under 18.

Her sexual dalliances involved three boys at Citrus Valley and Redlands high schools during her tenure as a teacher in both locations.

As part of a plea bargain in which she admitted having the student’s baby, she was sentenced to a year in jail and released after six months.

On probation, she is a registered sex offender.

Laura Whitehurst shares custody of the love child with the former high school student, who is now 21, according to the victim’s attorneys.

In the lawsuit, attorneys for the student alleged that school officials knew of his romance with Whitehurst and failed to warn his family.

The lawsuit also claimed that a colleague of Whitehurst’s was aware of the relationship and that school officials questioned her about it.

Despite the huge payment, district officials said they were admitting no wrongdoing by settling the lawsuit, blaming Whitehurst alone.

Spokesman Tom DeLapp said the district is “not pleased with this” but settled “this tragic case once and for all so we can move forward.”

“We felt there could be serious damage to the reputation of a very fine school district” if the legal case were to be drawn out, he added.

Throwing a bit of shade, he said they ended this before “the plaintiff’s lawyers were allowed to drag the [school] through the mud all over again.”

“In the long run, $ 6 million is high, but it could have been much higher if this had been left to an empathetic jury in another city.”

DeLapp feared a jury “looking past the facts” to find a “financial scapegoat for the unprofessional, criminal actions of one individual.”

He cited the explosion of media attention, noting “there was a picture of her in the birthing suite circulated to people at the school with the boy.”

The former student who fathered Laura Whitehurst’s baby said the relationship started in 2012 when he was 16 and lasted for a year.

He told authorities Whitehurst began driving him home from school functions and spending long hours with him away from the school.

On a trip to Disneyland, she grabbed his hand and told him she wanted to kiss him, and shortly after the trip, things escalated. Hard.

She and the boy began having repeated sexual intercourse at her apartment, he said, and Whitehurst gave birth to their child in June 2013.

The boy was in attendance for the birth.

He said later that Whitehurst gave him alcohol and told him it was a “miracle pregnancy” as she did not believe she could get pregnant.

As if that weren’t a bizarre enough series of events, she even gave him a Bible on his 17th birthday and took him to church, he said.

Oksana Grigorieva Loses $14.75M of Settlement For Leaking Mel Gibson Tapes

Oksana Grigorieva was originally supposed to receive $ 15 million in her settlement with Mel Gibson, but will only be getting 1/60 of that.

Yes, one-sixtieth. She has only herself to blame, too.

The Russian model and mother to the one-time couple’s six-year-old daughter, Lucia, will only receive $ 250,000 from the Oscar winner.

Domestic abuse claims she made in an interview on The Howard Stern Show in 2013 cost her $ 14,750,000, according to court documents.

Gibson pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor charge of battery (saving him jail time), originally agreeing to a custody settlement of $ 15 million.

The only stipulation was a big one, and clear:

If Grigorieva vowed not to release damning information about the actor and director to the public, then she would receive that amount.

Didn’t happen.

Oksana told police just months later that Gibson had punched her as well as threatened her life and brandished a gun around Lucia.

Subsequently, the Mel Gibson tapes surfaced.

In a series of disturbing audio recordings, the actor sounded deranged as he told her she “deserved” the assault he allegedly committed.

He added that he would “bury” her and burn down her residence, as well as the fact that she sucks at music and various other insults.

It was bad. Very bad. But it cost her too.

After a year of legal wrangling, they settled on a much more modest $ 750,000, which Gibson agreed to dole out to her in three installments.

He was set to pay $ 250,000 after the releases were signed, $ 250,000 by September 2013 and a final installment by September 2016.

The judge warned her not to speak publicly about the case or any of the allegations against Mel, or that settlement would be void as well.

Again, she didn’t listen.

Gibson had paid the first of the $ 250,000 installments, but the California Court of Appeals ruled that he won’t have to pay the other $ 500,000.

Thus, Grigorieva will only receive 1/60 of the original $ 15 million she left on the table, thanks to leaking the tapes and talking to Stern.

Totally worth it.

Kaley Cuoco STICKS IT to Ryan Sweeting in Divorce Settlement!

Even though Kaley Cuoco and Ryan Sweeting got divorced after less than two years of marriage, it was widely believed that the former tennis pro would make out like a bandit in terms of spousal support.

After all, it was just a few months after their wedding that Kaley signed a $ 90 million contract for three more seasons of The Big Bang Theory, thus making her one of the highest paid actresses in TV history.

Unfortunately for the unemployed Mr. Sweeting, it seems Kaley spent a large chunk of that fortune on hiring the best divorce lawyers money can buy.

TMZ is reporting today that Sweeting will get next to nothing from Cuoco thanks to an ironclad prenup.

In fact, it seems that all of the cash in that record-breaking contract will remain in Kaley’s bank account.

That’s right – Ryan won’t see a cent of the sweet TBBT money that’ll allow Kaley to retire at 35 if she wants to.

Instead, Sweeting walks away with a lump sum payment of $ 165,000 and whatever “cash and gift certificates” are already in his possession.

Kaley has also agreed to pay the $ 195,000 bill for his two personal trainers.

Sounds like a decent deal by regular non-celebrity standards, but you have to remember that Ryan probably thought he would never have to work again.

$ 165,000 is a nice chunk of change, but it’s not “go live out the rest of your days playing shuffleboard in Cabo” money.

The fact that Kaley sicced her legal team on Sweerting in such ruthless fashion has been taken by some as an indication that the split wasn’t as amicable as the ex-couple initially pretended.

Whatever the case, we think it’s safe to say Ryan will probably no longer watch The Big Bang Theory online after the settlement is finalized.

Meadow Walker Awarded $10 Million in Settlement Over Father"s Death

Meadow Walker, daughter of the late actor Paul Walker, was awarded $ 10.1 in a settlement with Roger Rodas’ estate.

Roger Rodas was the driver of the Porsche involved in the accident that killed both Walker and Rodas in 2013, which left fans shocked and devastated.

Jeffrey Milam, Meadow’s attorney, released the following statement:

“The amount paid by the estate of Roger Rodas into a trust for Meadow Walker only covers a fraction of what her father would have earned as an international movie star had his life not tragically been cut short.

“Through his estate, Mr. Rodas, the driver of the car, took partial responsibility for the crash. Meadow’s lawsuit against Porsche AG—a $ 13 billion corporation—intends to hold the company responsibly for producing a vehicle that was defective and caused Paul Walker’s death.”

Earlier this week, Rodas’ widow lost her lawsuit against Porsche, which included allegations of negligence, wrongful death and product liability.

Speaking on the Rodas case, Milam pointed out that the cases were too different to compare.

“The issues in the cases are very different,” he told E! News. “The federal case was filed on behalf of Roger Rodas, who was the driver of the Porsche Carrera GT and was killed instantly upon impact.”

“Meadow’s father, Paul Walker, was a passenger in the car. He survived the crash but was trapped and burned to death because of the vehicle’s defects.”

Last Father’s Day, Meadow, who is now 17, shared a sweet throwback photo of herself as a baby embracing her late father.
