The Real Housewives of New York Season 10 Episode 10 Recap: You Broke the Penal Code

If you are not a fan of Luann de Lesseps, then The Real Housewives of New York Season 10 Episode 10 was not the episode for you.

It was all about the countess, and the aftermath of her being arrested for a myriad of reasons. Obviously, the reality TV show cameras never really stop, so there was no hiding for Luann.

Also, when you have the likes of Carole Radziwill, Ramona Singer and Bethenny Frankel in your circle of friends, you can bet your bottom dollar that the world will know all the details before long.

But how did Luann’s fellow housewives react to the whole thing?

“I assumed that she had been drinking and driving,” Radziwell told the cameras.

“I said, ‘Oh my God, she has a DUI.’ Then I Googled, and I found out that it was a little bit more complicated than that. I was scared for her, because that’s not a good place to be.”

“I was a few blocks away from where this whole thing went down,” said Tinsley Mortimer.

“And I feel badly for Luann because I know how it’s probably going to be taken in the press and go a million different directions.”

Tinsley’s reaction was right on the money. These things are blown way out of proportion, but Tinsley defended Luann all the way through the hour, saying that she was not ready to go partying.

In essence, she was not over her failed marriage to Tom D’agostino. That makes sense, it may have seemed like the biggest sham around, but Luann seemed happy.

The good thing was that Luann was all about recovery, and admitted she was seeking treatment for alcohol abuse. It was music to Dorinda Medley’s ears.

“Luann’s in rehab, she went to court, and she’s got some pretty major accusations,” Medley admitted to the cameras.

“I don’t think she is ready to be back in any kind of polite society.”

But Medley really stuck the knife into de Lesseps when she spoke to Ramona about the whole thing, saying:

“Sometimes, God stops what you’re not recognizing you need to stop. And I don’t think she was in a good place before Christmas.”

Dorinda then said that her main issue with Luann was that she went to the place she got married just a year earlier, and that’s why things went downhill.

“If I knew she was going to Palm Beach, I would have done everything in my power to stop her,” she said.

“Hey, we all can drink a little too much, have a little too much fun, but this was an out of control situation that became public. But worse than that, the police were involved, and that’s bad,” said Ramona Singer upon hearing all about it.

Then there was Bethenny, who was one of the few women who wanted Luann to know all about Tom’s past.

“I have no idea what Luann’s perspective on rehab and her arrest is,” Frankel shared with cameras.

“You know, Luann has myriad emotions. Luann could deny and blame, accept and evolve, cry and be vulnerable; there are a million ways that one can handle this.”

Yes, the episode may have been overstuffed with all the reactions, but it was still fun to see what headspace the cast was in.

What did you think of the episode?

Kate Middleton Defies Dress Code, Actually Garners Backlash

It has happened, folks.

It has finally happened.

The celebrity most impervious to criticism is actually on the receiving end of a few harsh rebukes…

… and it’s all due to the color of a dress Kate Middleton chose to wear in public over the weekend.

On Sunday night, Middleton and husband Prince William attended the British Academy Film Awards (BAFTAs), which are the British equivalent of the Academy Awards.

As always, the eyes of a nation turned to Middleton not only because she’s beautiful and fashionable and beloved – but also because she’s seven months pregnant.

What sort of outfit would she wear? Would her baby bump be visible?

The brunette bombshell chose a deep green cap-sleeved gown by Jenny Packham, and she looks gorgeous in the dress.

No one on social media dared to debate this point, as Kate also accessorized with emerald jewelry, suede Prada heels and a black clutch.

But nearly everyone else at the event went with black tuxedos or gowns.

You see, just like the Golden Globes in January, attendees of this year’s BAFTAs were strongly encouraged to wear this color in support of the Time’s Up initiative, which stands against harassment, assault and mistreatment of women.

Specifically, the organization is a legal defense fund meant to provide monetary support to those who wish to take legal action.

It was started after the #MeToo movement swept Hollywood, exposing sexual predators such as Harvey Weinstein and Matt Lauer.

Even though the Royal Family famously stays away from hot-button political issues, many fans assumed Middleton would at least show support for this cause, simply considering how non-controversial it is.

Or how non-controversial it should be, at least.

As a result of Middleton’s decision to don green, therefore, these folks felt let down by their duchess.

“Disappointed in #KateMiddleton #DuchessofCambridge not wearing black to the #EEBAFTAs It’s not a political thing. It’s a woman thing!” wrote one disgruntled Internet user.

Added another:

“I know the Royals aren’t supposed to get involved with “protests” or anything… but would it really have been THAT bad for Kate Middleton to wear black??? #BAFTAs2018.”

angry at kate

Middleton, of course, has a lot going on these days.

She’s due to give birth in just a few weeks, possibly to a PAIR OF BABIES.

It’s conceivable, albeit unlikely, that she was unaware that stars had been asked to wear black in honor of this initiative.

Without citing any specific cause, she has spoken up in the past about motherhood and feminism.

“Personally, becoming a mother has been such a rewarding and wonderful experience,” she said in a speech last year, adding at the time:

“However, at times it has also been a huge challenge. Even for me who has support at home that most mothers do not.

“It’s full of complex emotions of joy, exhaustion, love, and worry, all mixed together.”

The crux of this speech wasn’t really political, but it did tackle the subject of mental health, proving that Middleton isn’t afraid to at least touch on topics that mean a lot to her.

“It is right to talk about motherhood as a wonderful thing,” she said.

“But we also need to talk about its stresses and strains. It’s okay not to find it easy, and asking for help should not be seen as a sign of weakness.

“If any of us caught a fever during pregnancy, we would seek advice and support from a doctor. Getting help with our mental health is no different.”

These words were met with strong virtual applause across the Internet.

Many just wish Kate, when faced with the opportunity, had said something similar about the ongoing female empowerment movement taking over the film industry as well.

Kate Middleton Breaks BAFTA"s Time"s Up All-Black Dress Code with Green Dress

Michelle Duggar: Slammed For Violating Her Own Dress Code!

We suppose it was inevitable that the Duggar women would eventually rebel against the uber-strict dress code and draconian rules of conduct that have held them down for decades.

We just didn’t think it would all happen so quickly.

First, Jinger Duggar wore shorts.

(Between Jinge and the NFL protests, this has been a huge year for woke knees!)

Shortly thereafter, we learned that her older sister had also broken her floor-length denim chains, thanks to an Instagram photo that showed Jessa Duggar wearing pants.

From that point on, there was no stopping the Duggar women’s momentum.

Joy-Anna Duggar got pregnant out of wedlock (allegedly) defying the “courtship” rules that have done as much to make her family famous as the sheer size of Michelle and Jim Bob’s brood.

Just yesterday, we bore witness to another bombshell act of defiance in the form of Jill Duggar’s tattoo.

No doubt a deeply-frustrated Jim Bob pounds his fists on a lot of flat surfaces these days, especially since the latest rebel is none other than his wife, Michelle Duggar.

Now, in this case, “rebel” should definitely be in quotes, but in her own small way, Michelle is joining in on her daughters’ efforts to take their power back.

The photo above, which shows Michelle and Jim Bob in what appears to be a throwback vacation photo, was posted to the Duggars’ official Facebook page yesterday.

“Dreaming about warmer days when my love and I were on the beach!” Michelle captioned the pic.

Now, it may seem innocent enough (and it certainly is) but as many fans pointed out, Michelle is violating her own rules in at least two ways in this photo.

For one thing, she’s showing some leg.

While the Duggar girls are only required to wear skirts that extend past their knees, Michelle typically goes the extra mile with legwear that does all the way to the floor.

So the sight of Michelle flashing even a few inches of calf was enough to throw some fans for a loop.’

On top of that, the Duggars typically avoid beaches and public pools, due to the “immodest” attire sported by their fellow swimmers.

“Wait, I thought you didn’t go to the beach,” commented one fan.

“Scandalous, look at all that leg,” joked another.

“I wish they could wear normal bathing attire,” a third commented. “Those clothes are just going to be hot and heavy and miserable.”

Yes, this isn’t our first glance at Duggar swimwear.

A memorable photo of Jessa Duggar in a swimsuit is often cited as evidence of just how far her family will go in the name of modesty.

Thankfully, it’s a trend that seems to be very slowly dying away.

The Duggar women are serving as their own silence breakers in subtle, but important ways.

Meghan Markle: Struggling With New Royal Dress Code?

As far as we know, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are not engaged yet.

But despite the lack of a ring on her finger, it seems Meghan is already feeling the pressure to conform to the royal rules of decorum.

Meghan is no stranger to being photographed on an almost-daily basis.

(When you’re the star of basic cable’s 6th highest-rated legal drama, you get accustomed to the spotlight.)

So in some ways, Markle has likely had an easier time than most with the difficult transition from civilian to royalty-in-training.

But there are some aspects of her new life that will likely present a challenge to the Suits star.

For example, the celebrated fashionista will now be strongly encouraged (read: forced) to follow a dress code of the Queen’s devising.

Obviously, one can’t show up to royal engagements in a hot wing sauce-stained bowling shirt, a la John Goodman in the 1991 film classic King Ralph.

But the dress code goes beyond the prohibition of attire that signals to the audience that you’re a working-class guy who don’t know nothing ‘bout this fancy royal stuff.

In fact, it seems the royals share at least one thing in common with reality TV’s most conservative clan, the Duggars:

Both the Queen and Jim Bob are firm believers that knees are for prayin’, not displayin’.

Yes, it seems Meghan’s days of shorts and above-the-knee skirts have come to an end.

According to Cosmo, Meghan has agreed to adhere to the royals’ strict “no knees” policy in her attire.

The rule is said to be the Queen’s invention, and while others in the family may find it a bit old-fashioned, for now at least, what QE2 says goes.

And it makes sense that Meghan wouldn’t offer any resistance.

After all, Markle needs the Queen’s approval in order to marry Harry, and fabric-covered knees are a small price to pay in exchange for a lifetime of being a freakin’ princess.

Speaking of knees, many are wondering when Harry will get down on one.

Rumors of Harry proposing to Meghan have been circulating for about a year now, but there’s still no official news of an engagement from Buckingham Palace.

It’s possible that the couple is secretly engaged.

But it’s also possible that Meghan is growing increasingly impatient.

We don’t blame her. It would suck to shell out for a bunch of floor-length dresses for nothing.

High School Senior SLAMS Sexist Dress Code with Scathing Yearbook Quote

Yearbook quotes used to just be little cute ways of being remembered or sharing jokes with friends.

Now, in the age of social media, many students hope to be able to share their sense of humor or their ingenuity with thousands of people who never attended their school. Sometimes, it works, and their photo and quote get shared all across the world.

One student’s yearbook photo has gone viral for making a hilarious point about sexist dress codes.

Tori DiPaolo

When Tori DiPaolo tweeted this photo from the yearbook, she included a caption.

“Tori: 1; Dress Code: 0.”

She wasn’t just congratulating herself for an entertaining quote that poked fun at the hypocrisy of school photos that bare those scandalous shoulders when the school itself bans them.

She’s apparently waged a lengthy battle against the school’s outrageously sexist dress code policies.

“Over the past four years, myself and many of my friends have received dress code violations for clothes that were nowhere near inappropriate.”

That’s all too common.

And while many students are quick to blame teachers for reporting them for their “offenses,” they should realize that most teachers only do so for fear of getting into trouble if they don’t report dress code violations.

“I became a bit infamous around school for fighting the administration about dress code, so I figured I’d use my senior quote as one final jab.”

Great callbacks to your reputation are a great way to use a yearbook quote.

Second only to the folks who use their yearbook quotes to come out of the closet.

“I just found it funny that the outfits for senior portraits technically violated the dress code by exposing our shoulders, so I saw my opportunity and ran with it.”

Funny, yes … but not funny haha, you know?

Dress codes can be especially onerous in the south, where soaring temperatures can combine with humidity to make even a tee shirt feel like its smothering its wearers.

But no matter the location, dress codes are clearly and aggressively based on gender discrimination.

“It’s all based on sexism, and it is completely unreasonable.”

She’s not pulling that out of nowhere.

So much of dress codes has to do with the idea that a girl’s bare shoulders or, gasp, if her tee shirt rides up, will distract the boys in the classroom.

You know, because shoulders and the small of your back have magic powers that force boys to stop paying attention.

One of my favorite anecdotes about girls responding to stupid sexist dress code enforcement was a girl who was told that her bra strap was showing so she needed to change outfits who then reached under her shirt and removed her bra.

All the while without breaking eye contact with the teacher.

Not all heroes wear capes.

Or bras.

“There have been a number of incidents where I was called into the office due to what I was wearing. Whether it was my bra strap showing, or my midriff being a quarter inch exposed, administration always gave me a problem.”

Pulling her out of class and wasting her time when she could have been learning.

Shame on them.

Like, the idea of a dress code makes sense, but basically you should just need to wear clothing that wouldn’t get you banned from Instagram or, like, a McDonald’s.

That’s just part of life.

Instead, students — most of whom are in the middle of growth spurts and many of whom may not come from families who can afford to be picky about clothes — are expected to go above and beyond.

Because apparently certain parts of the human arm are just too darn sexual.

(But in ways that only impact boys)

Policies are inconsistently enforced, so a girl might only get in trouble for her attire after having worn it a dozen times before, thinking that it wasn’t a problem.

The most insidious part of how dress codes are enforced is that, in case she might distract boys from their educations, girls are called out of class or even sent home.

Which effectively prioritizes the educations of hypothetical boys who lack basic self-control skills.

The fact that girls are supposed to be responsible for their male classmates’ educations is ludicrous, but it’s enshrined in countless dress codes across the country.

That kind of thinking is only a few steps below “that witch hexed me into lusting after her!”

DiPaolo isn’t the only students or former student to have expressed these concerns or fought this battle.

There have been viral stories, like that parent of a female student who invited the school’s principal to go shopping with them to see how absurd the dress code was an how difficult it was to meet.

There are adults fighting similar battles against what’s considered inappropriate for grown women vs what men are allowed to do.

There are even cases where men are directly impacted — right now in Europe, there are numerous men wearing skirts to protest their companies’ bans on wearing shorts during soaring temperatures.

Though, honestly, skirts have to be way more comfortable.

Maybe they’ll stick with them.

And maybe society should care a little less about how people decorate their meat prisons.

The Real Housewives of Potomac Season 2 Episode 1 Recap: Don"t Let The Zip Code Fool Ya!

Have you missed the ladies of Potomac in their absence from our screens?

If so, then The Real Housewives of Potomac Season 2 Episode 1 was most definitely the episode you were craving. It had it all: Catfights, Fashion and a whole lot of shade.

When the episode got underway, Gizelle Bryant was trying on a new wig and implying she knew better than Beyonce.

“Becky and all of her good hair don’t have nothin’ on me.”

Yeah, we believe you Gizelle. If that was not self-centered enough, Gizelle then pleaded with her hairdresser to let her speak about her new boyfriend.

“Can we talk about my man? … Kevin. … I dunno if we’re gonna mingle, but we’re at least gonna give it a shot.” Um, Gizelle, it sure seems like you don’t know much about your man.

“If he comes in a short package, that’s fine. As long as not everything is short,” she concluded.

After that, we checked in with Charrisse — who was no longer reeling from the events that paved the way for her husband to ditch her.

“Charrisse last year was a very unhappy person and holding onto damaged goods. … Charrisse don’t live here anymore.”

Okay.

Charrisse also revealed that she sent a cease and desist letter to Charrisse for chatting smack about her to Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live.

Meanwhile, Ashley revealed that things between her and Michael were not good and part of that was down to their restaurant not doing good business.

“We’re eight months in, and it’s been a very difficult time. … People weren’t really digging our food.” She then opened up about their dire finances, saying, “Michael has invested over 1.5 million dollars, and he’s taking care of it until we make ends meet. It’s putting a strain on my relationship.”

That’s a whole lot of money to invest in something that appears to be failing.

Ashley was not the only cast member struggling with dire straits on the financial side of things. Robyn revealed that things were not going well.

“As a result of all of our financial challenges, our house ended up going into foreclosure.” She then opened up about her husband, Juan and his desire to become a couple again.

“Juan wants us to be a couple again, but there’s a block up that’s preventing me from looking at our situation as a relationship.”

After that, Charisse revealed that her husband wanted to part ways with her.

“He’s wanting a divorce.” She continued, “I decided that you know what? My children are what’s important. … We haven’t talked about it so much. … Hopefully, he gets a job.”

Later, Gizelle stirred up some drama for Charrisse. Robyn was trying to bring the feud to an end, but defended Charrisse in the process.

“I don’t feel like she was calling you a whore. … Didn’t she say something like, ‘I’m not going around calling you a whore?’”

“You were wrong for putting her business out there.”

However, Robyn’s words were not enough to tone down Gizelle, who went forward with some more claims about her former friend.

“She has told me she cheats on Eddie,” Gizelle claimed. Is she lying? We have no idea.

At the Manifest Your Destiny competition charity event, Gizelle tried to stir up some more drama. This time it was all down to a dancer named Teon who was grinding on Ashley.

Ashley did win first place in the competition, but Charrisse was too busy turning her attentions to Gizelle.

“I did not call you a f–king whore. Don’t let the zip code fool you, baby.” Gizelle seemed to retreat, but is she just biding her time to ruin Charrisse’s life?

We have no idea, but we’re here for the season to find out!

Fourth Grader Schools Teacher"s Math Question With Girl Code

A fourth grader schooled her teacher when answering a math problem using “girl code.”

Maddy Douglas was completing a worksheet for homework when she got to a question about high school dating patterns.

The questions proposed a precarious situation: a group of four boys and a group of four girls go on dates as varying couple combinations.

Maddy was supposed to figure out how many combinations of couples would be possible among the hypothetical group of boys and girls. But Maddy skipped the math portion of the problem and got straight to the moral quandary:

“I can’t answer this problem because my mom says acoording to girl code you shouldn’t date a friends x boyfriend,” Maddy wrote on her worksheet.

Her mom shared a picture of the question on Huffington Post’s Parent’s Facebook page with the hashtag #girlcodetrumpscommoncore.

Maddy’s mom Jenn Douglas was not thrilled about the math problem her daughter was assigned to answer.

“Maddy had never really seen me disgusted in that type of manner,” she told HuffPo. “She could see my disgust and said ‘Didn’t you tell me that you shouldn’t date your friend’s ex-boyfriend?’”

Although Douglas was proud of her daughter’s answer, she was concerned about the appropriateness of the question.

“I consider myself to be a completely open-minded type person and as a single mom, try to teach my children about equality and about different types of people they will encounter,” she stated.

“But my first reaction was it was not an appropriate question for a fourth grader or really any grade,” the mom continued.

Facebook users and her teacher responded well to Maddy’s clever answer when she turned her homework in on Friday.

Douglas told HuffPo, “Her teacher laughed at her answer and told her ‘Good point."”

Code Black Season 1 Episode 1 Recap: Did Your Pulse Race?

Code Black is the anti-Grey’s Anatomy.

We didn’t open Code Black Season 1 Episode 1 with any sex between co-workers or any profound talk on elevators; that’s not what this new CBS drama is about.

Instead, the network is aiming for the next ER, a series medical procedural that focuses more on cases than the doctors who deal with them.

Not that the doctors aren’t important, of course. We still need to like the staff members who deal with intense cases everyday at Angels Memorial Hospital.

And they are:

  • Senior nurse Jesse Sallander (Luis Guzman), who refers to himself “your mama” because there’s nothing that happens at the hospital that he doesn’t know about.

  • Dr. Leanne Rorish (Marcia Gay Harden) a risk-taking residency director who is all about tough love and who is fueled by rage after an accident three years ago.

  • Christa Lorenson (Bonnie Somerville), a resident/mother who is often serves as Rorish’s punching bag.

  • Mario Savetti (Benjamin Hollingsworth), Lorenson’s younger colleague and, we’re just guessing here, her future love interest.

  • Neal Hudson (Raza Jaffrey), who oversees the Emergency Room.

On the premiere, Christa performs an emergency C-section in an ambulance while Dr. Rorish gives her instructions over the phone. This leads to a moment in which we learn Christa lost her son to cancer.

We also learn that Rorish lost “everyone” she loves somehow.

For the record, a Code Black takes place when there are more patients than resources at the hospital.

We’re told early on that the average hospital faces five per year, while the one featured here features nearly one per day.

So viewers can prepare for a lot of action, just not the bedroom kind Grey’s Anatomy has been so successful at portraying.

Go ahead and watch Code Black online to see if you’re interested in the other type of action
